Page 255 – Messy
Looks like Sabrina didn’t nail that Ultrasplash (from last page) after all!
Sun wasn’t kidding about learning from the master. She’s got a critique for Sabrina whether she wants to hear it or not, but the girls are keeping it friendly. Sabrina has the infamous short fuse but it’d take quite a bit for her to blow up on Sun. And really Sun means well. Right? After all they are smiling…at least in the beginning of the page.
A crowd seems to be forming as Sabrina and Sun pick up the pace. Even Brooke, Krystin and now Marina are drawn to the sparring session. Like Brooke and Krystin said, this might get really good or bad.
NEW VOTING INCENTIVE!
Check out the final piece of Jenn’s masterpiece, the Definition of Technician!
Since we don’t have commentators calling the match, panel 5 is a reverse neckbreaker. Check it out here:
Oh! ‘Shinobi’ ‘Lil Dragon’ Sun Wong isn’t playing.. even on sparring session.
Love the panel 1 art.. “slide”!
Damn!! Panel 2: Cool! Ninja!!
Panel 4: Waaa!! ‘Shinobi’ ‘Lil Dragon’ Sun Wong, easily evade ‘Ultragirl’ Sabrina Mancini, then Sun executed swinging neckbreaker on Sabrina.. it’s just a sparring it’s really turning it bad.
Panel 6: Sun pinning Sabrina, not just ordinary type of pin.
Panel 7: This is a surprise.. ‘Ultragirl’ Sabrina Mancini choking Sun..
I wonder what are those two Krystin and Brooke gonna.. no no!! don’t tell me destroying the sparring between Sabrina and Sun.. I mean interfering.. I know Krystin is a grumpy spoil sport, and Brooke want to get attention, I think that they’ll do that..
I wonder why the Catgirls don’t spar at the Rival Angels training Center?
Yup, just what I thought. Tension rising, one up-manship increasing. They are friends but neither likes being upstaged in the ring. In many sports, good and firm friendships are left in the lockers and its completely different on the field, the track or in the ring and wrestling is no different.
No surprises here.
well probably its hte end of the ”Ultra-Dragon” tagteam. Saaab! Kick her assss 😛
I know I don’t post much, but it’s not my thing sorry for that. I really love your work though and this page was gold. Can’t wait to see you at fallcon and get that graphic novel.
Ahhh well now. This is getting interesting for sure! In MA terms sparing in wrestling can have its kata where you polish your moves, randori where it’s free form but not full contact. Looks like they’re moving through all that to a fight. Woot!
hmmm.. This sparring is getting more like the Sparring between Snowkitten and Brenda Rua.. hmm I don’t know
here’s one question..
Is Sun more faster, than Sabrina?
MGC, it’s true that sparring seems to be escalating, but they’re still keeping it friendly. Â They’re still talking with each other, so that’s a good sign. Glad you liked the page!
Okay Prestwick, I’d say you’d be right about the tension rising. Â Maybe a bit of one-upmanship? Â Possibly. Â With a competitive individual sport like wrestling, you’re bound to have some aggressive sparring. Â And you’re right about leaving it all back in the locker rooms. Â These two are young so it’ll be fun to see how it evolves.
Ha ha Svan! Â The end of ultra-dragon? Â I don’t know about that….then again, Monday’s coming….
Hey Patric! Â No worries, I enjoy your posts when you can. Â I look forward to FallCon too. 🙂
Great observation Champ! Â I can tell you that these two are far from over.
knew  she wouldn’t hit that wltra splash tho impressed she landed that safely. Sun has a good point in that you don’t need to play to the fans and finish it with a finisher. you go out there and catch the win when you see you can. Sabrina actally done that once vs Needles. if she taken the time to climb up for the ultra splash it would have given time for the other Dumb Belle to recover and get involed but she went for what would get her the win.maybe now that sun points that out Sabrina will smarten up but then again pure faces rarely do 😛
Enjoy viewing/looking at two pages because it show Sabrina and Sun training together.
Thats my sunny! school that showoff ninja style 😉
Great points, Jenn. Â Sabrina did win because she didn’t waste time and the fans still loved it. Â But there is a certain showmanship in any contact sport like wrestling and MMA. Â I think that there’s more to this discussion on Monday.
Adam, glad you’re digging the pages. 🙂
T-M, she intends to!
The thing is, the fans DO love someone who shows off a bit in the ring. HBK, Jeff Hardy, Mysterio, Steamboat, Undertaker . . . mostly high fliers youll note but even Triple H has been know to take time in the ring to give the fans a good show. Careers have been built on it and the fans appreciate it. I remember an interview with the enigmatic Jeff where he said that he doesnt step between the ropes just to win, he goes out there with the intention of doing the one thing that everyone there remembers when they go home.
Â
I think that he proved that more than anything, even more than in the Hardy Boyz era, a couple of years back when he was gunning for Ortons WWE title. 30ft swanton, whisper in the wind from the top of a steel cage after an excessively impressive match against Umaga. And because of things like that, Jeff is probably my favourite active wrestler, i think hes slipped a bit recently but i maintain hope
I like all business or very flashy (playing to the crowds). I tend to enjoy heels more because a great heel makes everyone better.
Sabrina and Sun is still a good match up. A way to improve the match up is someone hitting Brooke with a bus!
