Just like that, the tide of the match turns. Has Brooke done enough to put Monica away? We’ve seen her put Monica away before with less effort. The crowd is certainly out of it, if that’s any indication. Plus, you have to think that Monica is woozy from that sneaky DDT. She might be out cold! No small thanks to Amanda Breaker too with the timely trip that allowed Brooke to DDT Monica in the first place. If only the poor ref would take a look at the bigger picture…
I’m back from Mid-Ohio Con! Well, actually, I’m writing this on the Thursday before but I figure all went great, I sold a ton of books and I’m sure I’ll post some pictures in the next day or so. Rolling with Trevor and hanging out at Lora’s pad! Good times and good friends.

W00t! Back from Mid Ohio Con. It would seem that my early post came true and I didn’t even need to call the psychic hotline for it either. Great times, books were sold (hit a milestone actually) and pictures and stories to be coming. Lora put up a dynamite con report (already!) so check it out.

So ive gotta say, amanda breaker could be a very good thing for brooke here, helping her become a better wrestler, aleit a dirty one. But everyone needsa mentor and since this is the way brooke wants to wrestle, she wants to be a heel because she believes in doing everything she can to get what she wants, then amanda is as good a teacher as any.

Yes, monica is going to kick out here, but at the very least amanda is tweaking brookes technique in her own ‘subtle’ way

This would be a big victory if Brooke wins. She’d be ready for tougher competition and hopefully a big push!
I told Monica to get away from the outside of the ring as quickly as possible, but not, she had to go and taunt, hehe. Though, I’m expecting a kick-out, the Mighty Munchkin isn’t going to go down so easily again.
Also, I’m assuming that since Amanda tripped Monica on her way in, that DDT Brooke delivered was a rope-assisted one. Will that be a signature move of Aphrodite’s known as the Double D T?
i think this may be it for Monica, Brooke has the weight/leverage advantage and is actually paying attention enough to hold the arms down to the mat to avoid the cheap shoulder lift. Plus a quick squash will help Brooke’s push in the grand scheme of things. and all feds need jobbers after all. Monica can be the Mikey Whipwreck of Rival Angels til she gets her shocking big win later on down the line.
 Monica’s only hope is that the ref catches the feet on the rope/amanda assist from the outside. Monica with a RVD-esque selling of the DDT though i have to say.

Jul, I think that bad eyesight is a prereq for becoming a ref. Â It’s not that Monica wasn’t fast enough, its that Amanda is faster than she looks.
I agree, Jim. Â If Brooke can put this away, she’ll be in line for a big push and justify her ‘second chance’ in Rival Angels.
Chris, it’s true: Monica took too long on the outside after getting Brooke where she wanted her. Â Looks like a big backfire. Â Brooke is developing moves as she’s improving in the ring so we could see more of this rope assisted DDT. Â I think Double DDT is a pretty good name. 😉
jpiv, it’s not looking very good for Monica. Â With Breaker’s assist, Brooke’s got the upper hand and once again Monica might fall to the numbers game. Â Or will she? Â Just like in everything, there’s people that win/lose more than others. We know Monica can be good (she was in the TV tournament) but maybe just some bad luck against Brooke.

Not a Monica fan at all so happy to see this turn of events. Heels need to win more matches around here anyways. lol And I gotta agree with Mikko, I know what he’s referencing and his character earned that title. Haha!

tho i do like the DDt i don’t like to see no skill Brooke on the winning side of things. i yet to see her win anything by her own skills so she yet to win ANY repect from me at all. the fact she needs that over sized paper weight at ring side with ehr is juts shows how lil skill she has to back her claims up. Say what ya will abut hert being abit line Orton but atleast Orton has won matchs with his own skill even if cheating was involed it was still him.if the meat ball loses here she might as well turn in her boots cause she be just plain wash up losing that easy to Brooke.

Jenn, she hasn’t won yet, but Brooke looks like she’s on the winning side of things. Â If Monica does lose, it really won’t look good for her as far as prestige and clout goes. Â And respect.
Good to hear the con went well! I looked at the photos and something occurred to me: Sabrina’s pose with one fist close and one hand raised makes her look like a rock singer, especially in that little standup cutout you had on the table.

Amanda’s depiction is spot on; the pear like figure of big Samoan women is captured well as is her mean streak (seen in panels 4 and 6 ). Of interest is Amanda and the GoDDEss look to be about the same bust size even though Brooke is about a hundred pounds lighter…

What can I say? Jeff is… once again, Jeff. Is he totally entranced by the power of the DD’s? I get a feeling Dawn is totally… hmm… un entranced. Aphrodite doesn’t seem to have a whole lot of female fans.

honestly i think spike DDT would be a good move for brooke, she obviously needs a new approach to wrestling, shes said before that the only reason she got out of development was through – ah – extra credit . . . so her win rate there was probably comparable to her success in RA. im glad well be seeing more of brooke and amanda together, beauty and the beast is always a good combo
Great match so far, from the classic small wrestler tricks and the Brit version of flipping off that were in last panel to this ones wonderful examples of heel teamwork.

Still, I have to channel some of my favorite announcers style for a moment myself. “Poor Monica. Just as she was turning the tides, she tripped on the ropes and fell right into that DDT. And now look! Breaker at ringside is trying to keep Aphrodite from cheating by moving her feet off the ropes. Â Got to love that kind of fair play!”

It’s a throwback to the days when Jesse Ventura and Vince were the commentary team. Jesse loved to claim the cheating was somehow within the rules. Heenan would say something like ‘Monica is going back in the ring and Amanda tries to fix her laces! Oh! Too late. The midget tripped before Breaker could retie them. Poor little thing.’

And then there’s Jerry when he was a heel comentator: ‘Look! Monica is too short to make it over the bottom rope. Breaker is trying to help her get in the ring!”
Hey RDF!  Whip It wasn’t that great of a movie then?  I haven’t seen it yet, but naturally I want to. Sabrina IS  rock star. XD  Glad you like Amanda and her similarities and differences with her buddy, Brooke. lol  You would be spot on about Jeff and Dawn.  Maybe Brooke/Aphrodite sends out some sort of male ensnarement vibe or something. XD
Haha, T-M! Â Possibly, Brooke and Amanda started out like that, but we’ll find out pretty soon. Definitely plans for Brooke and Amanda to be a team unless something unforseen happens, and you can bet that Brooke’s success in developmental was not very good, even after a few years there.
Hey Salazen! Glad you caught that gesture that Brooke left for Monica last update. XD Â It seems we have the same love of wrestling announcers! Â Ventura, Hennan and Lawler are what Jeff’s built on. Â I never really cared for Vince’s commentating but expect a little of that ‘excitement’ he brought at the Heaven and Hell PPV.

have you considered giving brooke a new finisher to fit in with her new GoDDess persona? i know shes a fan of widows peak (it shows off her chest, and lets face it she needs all the help she can get theyre barely noticable)

I thought Whip It was a good movie; one problem is us older folks are the ones seeing it ( I’m on the near side of 50 and many in the audience are around my age, roller derby aficionados from waaaay back). The screenplay was written by a girl who was a derby skater and it shows.
Women’s wrestling is something a wider audience can relate to: wrestling is televised quite a bit, ( OK it’s kinda retro, but Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling went for what, four seasons in syndication? ) while roller derby is a micro niche sport that I would venture most people have no idea is going on.

All the hip young girls are seeing Zombieland. I’m not making this up. To an extent Fox messed up in marketing, Whip It is not a feel good teen comedy ( in RA, if someone messed up a TV spot they’d be fired pretty much instantly by Commish Gabby ).
