Page 288 – Switcharoo
Some of you have been calling for this for a while from the twins and here they are doing what they do best. When the ref’s back is turned, the tired York bails out of the ring and the fresh one takes over. You can see here that Franchesca is raring to go and really sticking it to Sun and you can bet she’s still a bit peeved about being misted. You may notice that she’s got some mist on her left arm.
The crowd is getting behind Sun but it might come up short if Sun’s going to be taking this kind of punishment. Will Damage Inc respond in kind? More to come on Monday!
Happy Halloween!
Enjoy the voting incentive in which we see the angels dress up as some of my favorite webcomics!
Brooke as Red from o31.net (Brooke refused to wear a wig even though her name is ‘Red.’)
Krystin as Felecity from The Dreamland Chronicles
Sabrina, wig and all, as Bea from The Dreamer
Sun as Becka of Shadowgirls
2009 Webcomics Readers Choice Awards
There’s still time to nominate Rival Angels and her characters into the 2009 WRCA Awards. This is YOUR chance to be heard and make our vote count. Some of you have already graciously nominated Rival Angels and I really appreciate it. Did you see Brooke and Chloe are on the nomination list for Best Antagonist? Sun in Best Supporting Character? Even Best Art and Writing! Next month, starts the voting. Woah.
So if the ref catchs the switcheroo because of the york having mist goo on her.. then he catches sun having misted.. ahh it must be a rough job to be a ref.. getting to be in the ring with super hot, intelligent, powerful women.. a giant.. totally drag..(lucky JERK!)
Ah, the ol’ switcheroo tactics. Commonly used by “twin” tag team such as Basham Brothers, The Gymini, and lately the Bella Twins. I knew the York Sisters would use this tactic sooner or later.
my prediction? alright at the moment ima go with Sun gets pinned THEN the ref notices the mist and calls it, but i look forward to being proven wrong as usual 😛
PILEDRIVER! That’s the old way to do it too. Classic Undertaker 😀 Love the mist residue on her one wrist, great way to tell them apart but man that ref really is blind out there… Seriously, they need to result to instant replay in Wrestling. Make them automatically lose or just face Brooke for an easy win 😉
Also, I thought that the misting would stay on the face or did Josie protect her face / Sun was too high up for it to be effective…
Finally, Voting starts November 1st. I hope all the fans here vote and tell your friends. Make your votes count 🙂 Although I’m surprised that Sabrina hasn’t been nominated for Protagonist… Are they not smelling what she’s cooking in her young career? heh
Panel 1: The missile dropkick off the top rope.. worth the “York” bank account!! which means “Priceless” or in Mortal Kombat Shao Kahn will say “Superb!”
Panel 2: Most tag team switch-a roo making the tag team winning like the basham brothers.. I don’t if the bushwacker did a switch- a-roo.. I like to lay a out of the box question here.
York Twins.. didn’t even made it into Tag Team number one contender spot.. even in that tactics? is that mean that York Sisters loss to the Catgirls?
another Question here on Damage Inc..
Why aren’t they helping? I mean, if the Hell’s Belles is in Sun’s corner.. that switch- a-roo will never work.. I mean Yvonne, Kyra and Nikki are on the outside, what are they doing? Francesca is switching on without Sun noticing it, as they just let it go?
Damage Inc stable? are watcher? type stable? they don’t interfere matches? not like the Hell’s Belles? that’s makes the Hell’s Belles superior heel stable?
the referee.. why is the referee just warn Sun now? I mean, it’s didn’t hurt anyone, coz Francesca did cover her face? I agree on Sun..
the referee is high!
Panel 7: Francesca York.. is that her finisher? piledriver? I won’t countout Sun yet.. heheh!
Next update, I really like Sun executed something devastating move on Francesca.. so Josie will shout “FRANNIE!” 🙂
heheeh!!
but my vote win still remain though! I go for Josephine York!!
Voting Incentives.. Questions/ Comments
I love the 2 Halloween voting incentives..
Sabrina Mancini cosplaying as Bea! dreamer.. I would say, that Sabrina need to practice dying hair.. heheh!! than wig!! heheh!!
Brooke refuse to wear a wig? hehe!
good thing Chloe De Sade didn’t refuse to cosplay as Tychia? more Chloe like to cosplay as Tychia? that’s why she participated.. (Meci) Chloe De Sade!!
I don’t know what the behind story of the halloween photoshoot.. I think, the management just agree to put Brooke in as “Red” just because she’s an upstart.. coz they can put Jennifer Needles in it? or Rose Ryoko?
on Monday? can we expect another batch of Voting incentive?
maybe we’ll see Jennifer Needles, Katherine Smith, Monica Rumble and York Twins? hehehe!!
I really like Chloe cosplaying as Tychia..
🙂
Not to forget Brenda Rua as Amazonia.. hehe! maybe a Celt Warrior! heehee!
yes i agree that the misted arm is going to get noticed by the ref sooner or later. it’s just a matter of before the pin on Sun or after. BUT in the meantime since “Josephine” is in the ring right now there’s no reason why the rest of Damage Inc can’t go around and start beating on “Fran” outside the ring. after all “Fran’s” not in the match so the ref could care less what’s going on out there even if he does notice the beatdown.
then when he finally notices the mist and he’s busy ejecting “Josephine” for not being herself, Damage Inc tosses the carcass of “Fran” back into the ring before the ref notices and Sun picks the bones for the easy win.
the Dark Side of the switcheroo…
I think it’s coming down like jpiv said. But will that help Sun now? I dunno. She’s taken quite a pounding in short order. But there’s still the mist mark hehee. Lots of balls in the air!
Love the voting incentives boss!
Switch! I love that tactic. Also: that looked more like a jumping pile driver than the weenie tombstone. Too bad this isn’t in Mexico because Sun would have to sell the piledriver (and the Fran would be in big trouble).
Nice fist to face shot. If Sun’s not walking around with an icepack tomorrow, something’s wrong. XD
p.s. Bea told me to you that she wants her dress back from that blond hussy and that Alan would never fall for such a thing. Which sounds catty enough to make me suspect that perhaps he would. 😉
She’s got a hard head and a winning attitude. She can take ’em both! Go Sun!
Drew, all of the refs are jerks with really bad eyesight. XD
PS2kid, it was something I had planned for a while, but I didn’t want to ruin its impact too early. The Yorks are patient.
T-M, that is an interesting finish you have in mind. It would definitely be entertaining!
Kurt, instant replay is only ever used as part of a storyline. If they actually used it to call matches fairly, it’d be a long show. XD The piledriver is a classic, though Undertaker does the tombstone variety. What you see here is the ‘normal’ version yet just as effective. Fran got her hand and arm up in time to block her face from getting misted. She probably does have mist on her face but it either wiped off or not enough to show. People need to get hip to what Sabrina’s cooking and nominate her for Best Protagonist. LOL
Hey MGC, nice recap of the action. The Yorks are a very good tag team but there are a lot of good tag teams in Rival Angels. They’ll probably be in the title hunt once their free of Damage Inc. Time will tell on who the superior heel stable is, but really they both have their strengths and weaknesses. And as far as what Damage Inc retaliating, the ref happens to be looking in their direction. We’ll get a better handle on Damage Inc’s intentions as the match goes. Patience! I’m glad you love the voting incentives. You’ll especially like tomorrow’s then. If Sabrina can’t snag Alan Warren with a brunette wig then maybe she’ll consider dying her hair. XD
jpiv, that is some very dark thinking indeed! You think Damage Inc would stoop to something like that? 😉 And the ref noticing anything is just crazy talk. LOL
Thanks Champ, the voting incentives were a lot of fun. Currently, Sun is on her own and in some trouble. If I were ‘Josephine’ aka Franchesca, I’d be thinking about a pin right now and put this Damage stuff behind them.
Picky, yeah Fran put some spring into that piledriver. Sun’s lighter than most so Fran can get higher and do more damage.
Lora, don’t be surprised to see Sun walking around with a steak on her face. If she’s smiling or cranky will depend on the outcome of this match. LMAO @ Bea!
Correct-a-mundo, Trevor. Sun’s tougher than $2 steak.
Down, Bea! Sit! There’s cute dresses enough for everyone here! No, they’re not from my closet. Mine is full of flannel, now hush! My hovercraft is full of eels as well, but that’s beside the point.
Anyway, I’m gonna pull for Sun managing to pull off a finisher that takes BOTH Yorks down, just because she’s determined and mean enough to somehow make it work. Also, it’s fun to cheer for the possibly impossible. Now, if you’ll excuse me… ::goes back to drooling over his shiny new copy of The Squared Circle RPG::
LOL Cookie Ogre. I think the York girls could use a double Atomic Fission. She could do it too. 😛 How is the Squared Circle RPG? I used to play WWF tabletop RPG and it was a lot of fun.
Flannel is nice in the winter. Satin is good for the heat. Or making things hot.
But eels in your hovercraft? I DON’T what to know what’s in your tardis! Yipes!
gotta say i’m disapointed in Damage Inc. they are otu there yet evene ith 2 of them they couldn’t be bothered to stop the switch? they came to Sun about joining them but they yet to show any advange of being a member. i don’t count Sun out just yet but if she does lose this match its may be a big sign to her that she better off on her own if they can”t even help her.
Yay, Madame Champion is somewhat geeky! Eels in my hovercraft is a Monty Python reference, and my TARDIS is full of chocolate pudding at the moment. It’s in hygienic sealed containers, though, want some?
As for Squared Circle, I just got it last night so I’m still crunching the system, but aside from some muddled formatting and a few unclear rule explanations, it has possibility. I do like that it has explanations of many wrestling terms and descriptions of how each move is performed, this is very helpful for a guy like me who has only a cursory knowledge of wrestling and I expect to be consulting it frequently as I read RA. If you want to know, I’ll post my feelings on how the game system actually plays once I’ve tested it more. Currently I’m in the midst of creating a stable of performers for my home-built promotion (Valhalla Wrestling Federation) rather than just using the one provided in the book. I’m geeky that way.
I thought for sure Sun was going to get Crotched on the turnbuckle while her attention was on Francine. She still got one hell of an ass kicking. I looking forward to see how Damage Inc. will aide her in this match. So much head trauma in this one,
a tomb stone is chest to chest.. thats a good old jerry the king lawyer “we don’t care if we put you out of wrestling” standard seated pile driver.. but yea like albone said.. sun is what 105.. maybe 115.. thats a hell of a oomph she put on that. I think back to the old old school switcheroo’s.. I didn’t get to see much of them but I knew how BRUTAL the Moondogs were (hardcore 20 years before ECW even exisited the first time).. wonder if they ever used it
Got a feeling that misting might lead to a DQ…for the York Sisters! Because if Sun misted the gal who’s not supposed to be in the ring, and the ref notices the mark on the one who IS in the ring…or have I given the game away? 😉
Hey Ogre! I’d like to hear more about that system.
And pudding? Chocolate? You want the tardis setting for my place?
To misquote Shakespeare, perhaps the lady doth tempt too much. Sadly, if my understanding of TARDIS operation is accurate, wherever you intend it to go is usually the least likely place you’ll end up. So if I set it for your coordinates, I’d probably wind up in Kurt Angle’s dressing room instead. Not a happy thought. 😉 I’ll look into what other means of pudding conveyance are available.
Jenn, it is a little curious that Damage Inc isn’t helping out Sun. I won’t promise an answer, but I will say that someone will bring that fact up. The allure of Damage Inc has always been ‘strength in numbers,’ so if Sun were to drop this match because of being outnumbered, she’d have something to think about.
Cookie Ogre, I’d love to know more about the game system and actually the Rival Angels forum would be a great place to post your feelings about it. Much more room to say your piece.
Rorschach, more head trauma on the way! Sun did get lucky with the top rope but would she be so lucky if she tried it again? All eyes are on Damage Inc now in what they will or won’t do next.
Haha Drew! The Moondogs were too busy chasing opponents around with their dogbones (no pun intended). Jerry Lawler and Harley Race had the best piledrivers in the business, IMO.
Darkmark, you have NOT given the game away, especially with the notorious reputation of the referees eyesight in Rival Angels. You and the announcers are going to notice the left arm misting before the ref and he’s right there. 😛
There’s one thing I’ve noticed a lot of folks asking about: why didn’t Damage Inc stop the swap?
That’s actually a simple thing to answer: tag teams almost always get a free pass to be ringside with their partners in single matches. Stables almost always get tossed from ringside with a good excuse. Therefor, if Damage Inc had rushed to stop the swap, the ref -would- have noticed and ejected them, then stood and watched to be sure they went up the ramp and out of the area, missing the double team on Sun totally as BOTH Yorks beat on her, then the fresher one stayed in the ring.
Same goes for if they jump on the hurt one now. It just buys the Yorks a free pass to beat on Sun worse.
Also, I agree. Jerry the King had the best piledriver. He’s the only guy I’ve ever seen ‘roll’ piledrivers like Eddie rolled suplexes for the Three Amigos. He did four or five piledrivers on one guy without ever letting him loose.
That’s the most pragmatic explanation to the Damagers actions yet. Expect to see Damage Inc on their best behavior for the time being. After all, they really want to see what Sun’s made of. The refs may have terrible eyesight but don’t you know that they have 20/20 vision when you least want them too? XD
We can start a piledriving admiration club. I see jackets and ascots. 😀
A good point, Albone, I’ll do that. I should get around to real play-testing this week.
ah? no update? for Nov.2?
it’s kinda late.. ehhe..
Your post here is on Nov. 1, ten minutes before Nov. 2. The update always posts at 12:01 am. We did have ‘daylight savings’ though, so maybe that’s part of the confusion?
