Just what is Sun looking for? Or rather, whom? Damage Inc girls seem pretty sincere in their happiness for Sun, if not a little bit distracted by other forms of celebration. This is Sun’s first win with Damage Inc but it’s business as usual for Damage Inc. While Damage Inc gets into their party mode back in their private locker room, it’s time to get ready for the next match. Can you recognize a certain sassy schoolgirl in the background?
The WCRA awards have come and gone and no wins this year for Rival Angels. Sad!! No worries though, it was an honor to be nominated and I thank you all who voted for Rival Angels. Big love to the winners especially Phoenix Requiem and The Dreamer.
Sometimes it’s the subtle things that count. Specifically, panel 3, where Yvonne seems to pick up that Sun is distracted. Fortunately, perhaps, to everyone involved, she is further distracted by the promises of partying.
Naturally, I’m of the belief that she was distracted wondering where Brina was to congratulate her on the win. I’d actually prefer in retrospect if she doesn’t get angry over that, but maybe a bit disappointed and a little more sinking in that she has changed the status quo and that some things are not going to be able to go back to the way they were. Namely, when DI is celebrating, Sabrina won’t be. And vice-versa.
Yvonne is impressing me as a villain here in the sense that she’s got subtlety. I have no doubt she’s picked up on the idea that Sun has some loose ends, and that trying to cut them off in a brutal manner is likely to backfire. So instead of letting her dwell on it, she’s distracting her from thinking about it in the hopes that they’ll fade on their own. It’s not ignoring the issue, I think, so much as avoiding overreacting and having it blow up in your face.
She’s already won me over more than Chloe, purely on the basis of being more cunning and patient. Me likey baddies who are genuinely clever rather than having the informed ability of such.
Sun’s celebration in the last panel is the picture of sincerity, hehe. Looks like Damage Inc. is going to have one heck of a celebration (though I wonder if they would’ve gotten some celebrating in even if Sun lost). It also seems that Sara Valentine is about to cut a promo, what will the Sassy Schoolgirl have to stay about her upcoming slobber knocker with the Definition of Technician?
Adon, I’m glad someone else prefers Yvonne to Chloe! I was thinking about this earlier in fact. Chloe is charismatic and she walks the walk very well, but when it comes to her actions, she basically seems to be a spoiled brat who is nowhere near as intelligent or as manipulative as she likes to think she is. She reminds me of Angelica from Rugrats XD Yvonne on the other hand is patient, thoughtful and takes in what’s happening around her. I can’t help but think that one day, Yvonne is going to become the leader of the top heel stable in Rival Angels – whether it’s Damage Inc or not – and Chloe just won’t have been perspicacious enough to have seen it coming. Yvonne with Kat and Needles behind her would be especially nasty!
I like the last panel’s slight visual suggestion that Damage Inc are STILL sizing Sun up, with them surrounding her and the perspective making it look like they’re all looking down on her… they’re gradually starting to accept her as one of the team, but at the same time, they’re still viewing her at least partially as a resource. I note that Sara’s pulling focus in a direction which makes it look like Kyra’s taller than Sun, even though she’s not. Very clever!
Gotta say, I’m looking forward to the next match. I do love me some good old hardcore wrestling. Tough call on whether a no-DQ environment will favour Sara’s deviousness, or Krystin’s intensity. Either way, I can see this not getting satisfactorily resolved this week… and oh look, we’re on the go-home show for the PPV! I suspect Sara and Krystin are going to meet again in Paris and when they do, at least one of them is getting busted open. Despite it being a relatively new feud, between a midcarder and a newbie, it’s just screaming out for an I Quit match. Not only does it play into Krystin’s desire to teach Sara some humility, it would allow her to show off her technical side in a way a lot of other grudge match types wouldn’t.
I Quit would also favor each of their favored styles… Krystin’s punishing joint locks and catch wrestling and Sara’s hardcore anything goes brawling, since it’s inherently a no DQ match. I like that… good way to do a rubber match which doesn’t clearly favor either side.
yeah Sun’s defintirely looking around fro Brina but notice she doesn’t seem too disappointed that she’s not there. whether it’s from the thrill of victory or the disctraction from her fellow Damagers.
Yvonne seems almost to be the Marina for the heel side in this one. while Marina’s telling Brina to calm down and focus, here’s Vyonne telling Sun to let it all out and celebrate when you can.
Time for Sun to celebrate with some boys….and booze! She worked hard, she deserves it.
To celebrate, they’re going to take Sun out and dye her hair blonde! ::grabs some munchies for the upcoming Spank the Schoolgirl match::
The important part is Sara Valentine in the final panel.
I don’t think Sun is going to fit into this Damage Inc crowd for very long… She doesn’t seem like the Boys and champagne kind of person heh. Who’s that I see in the background coming up for an interview?
Adon, I’m so glad that you picked up on the ‘little things’ that Yvonne does (or doesn’t do). I don’t think I’m ruining anything that Sun was sort of expecting/hoping Sabrina to be around and yeah, Yvonne noticed and was able to refocus our Lil Dragon. There’s going to more to their relationship as we keep moving forward. I Quit matches are pretty cool, so it’d be pretty sweet to see one at the PPV. 😉
Chris, you are on the money! Sun is sincerely happy with her win, and her team. She’s excited about the future. Kyra and Nikki love their celebrating, don’t they? lol Yep, Sassy Sara will be cutting a promo next update!
Stygimoloch, I’m happy that you and others are digging Yvonne. She’s a lot of fun to write, just like Chloe. They both have their strengths that I love to play up. Nice catch with Damage Inc and Sun. Sun’s their new member but she’s not 100% ‘in’ just yet, but that sort of thing will come with time. Remember that Kyra was sizing up Sun to be her BFF. XD I’m looking forward to the next match too! I really think it’s going to deliver and I had a lot of fun doing it.
jpiv, good catch on what Sun’s looking around for, but while Sabrina might’ve let it shown, Sun likes to play things a little cooler, a little more close to the vest. She is happy though and that last panel shows it. Great analogy with Yvonne and Marina. That is an excellent comparison.
Trevor, the Damage Inc girls know how to party and we’ll see some of that soon.

Ninja’d by Kurt! Yeah, Sun doesn’t seem like the boys and champagne kind of girl, does she? Still, one could get used to that, right? The young lady in the background of the last panel would be the Sassy Schoolgirl Sara Valentine! And she’s got a big match with Krystin coming up next.
well gotta say i’m more impress with DI and Yvonne then i ever been by Chole and her “dumb Belles”. tho they take the violent side of this Yvonne puts some thought into it while also being brutall when she takes action.i could guess DI the younger stable of the 2 cause i expect Yvonne would have made DI the top heel stable before now if they had started first.
Woot party and promo, excellllent parrrrty time, showing my age there with that reference. Nice mind reading there by Yvonne about Sun, while an upgrade in celebration is always nice, I don’t think it will assimilate her into DI and cut Sabrine from her as much as she thinks. THey still live together and until Yvonne breaks that link she will not have complete control of Sun. I am holding off final judgement of Sun’s introduction into DI until after Sabrina’s match.

Damage Inc stable, are like star stable.. party all night, while Hell’s Belles celebrate only three of them.. no boys! allowed…

Yea M.G.C. I read that first panel as being a possible bad sign if Sun crosses the boss down the line, just remember Austin’s motto D.T.A(don’t trust anyone). I also read Yvonne first comment more than motivation, still sounds like they are using Sun as a means to end then full fledge member.
Hey Jenn, glad you see the differences between Damage Inc and Hell’s Belles. However, we haven’t gotten to see a whole lot of DI and there’s still more time to go before this night is out. Good call on the younger stable being Damage Inc. The histories of both stables is something I’d like to get into but we’ll see what we have time and space for.
Jabberwocky, I like where you’re thinking about Sun and Sabrina though they still seem to be far from reconciliation. But, they will have to see each other at home and at work so they should eventually come to an understanding. Very prudent of you to hold judgement until after Sabrina’s match. 😉
Hey MGC! Glad you’re back. 😀 It’s definitely true that there is a monetary difference between Sun and the other Damagers and they do like to party. I bet Michael would love to come to their parties but Brooke might have something to say about that. Brooke in Damage Inc? It’s certainly interesting to think about. I bet Kyra would like Shemus. LOL I’m sure you will love Sara’s interview. XD
The only good thing about missing Rival Angles is getting to read a bunch all at once!
Nice work, Albone! Love the art, the plot, and the new look of the website. I think Sun’s battles are not yet over for the night… And it does appear that the other three members of Damaged Inc. are still sizing her up.
I like the way Yvonne played this match out. Sun had to prove herself by having a lot of strength to carry out the plan and also trust in Yvonne – I think that’s a big deal here – even Sabrina was ready to jump in there and help Sun.
Hey hey, Ghosteraser! Glad to have you back and glad that you’re caught up! There’s still a lot of Monday Night Meltdown left to go so you never know what will happen. Great matches and the World Championship contract signing still to come. And very good observations, btw. 😉
