Page 397 – Pain and Suffering
Jul12
What can be said but Sun taking control of the situation? I can say that this is only the 2nd F-bomb in the last 397 pages.
Topher so lost his ride.
Minor note: I draw in a 10X15 space and then reduce the size for the web and I think it’s not very clear, but in the last panel, Marina is running up the stairs, talking on her cellphone.

Mmmmh no hospital, is Marina helping Sabrina out or helping the RA corporation from a legal and publicity disaster,? Why do I have a feeling the Comish or some damage person and not police are on the receiving end of that call. This situation is getting a whole messier for RA corp and Sabrina has not been reviewed yet, that could create more chaos.
Touching episode for Sun tonight, like Sabrina, Sun like control over her situation, the “fix her” comment show how desperate she wants to regain control of the problem. Depending on what happens with Sabrina does she goes “Peter Parker Angst” like or berserk-er mode, my money is on berserk. Sun is a truly loyal and good friend, I have a feeling that loyalty is going to be tested in the coming days to the PPV. Another suspenseful episodes *looks for a Delorean to get to Wednesday faster*
Great segment boss! I can really feel the angst and tension in the art. And there’s so many questions here. Like, who’s that call too. And the Institute as opposed to the ER? I smell a cover up and that will be bad. And what are the Belles up to? I imagine they’re making a few calls too.
I think I’d take a WRX over a Delorean. It’s gonna be a long, rocky road ahead hehee
Ya, if Marina no want this public – maybe she thinking about the company image more than Sabby’s arm. I agree with Jabber and the Champ. Something is up…
Seriously, the Rival Angels Institute for Sports Medicine? That had better be the wing of a hospital. If it’s not, then the best they can do is shoot some cortisone in her and ship her off to a real hospital. I’ll give them their due as a great rehab center.
Okay, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt:
1) The wrestlers of Rival Angels are actually employees of a company, not independent contractors.
2) The medical staff of a wrestling company is able to fix a broken arm along with other serious injuries instead of just being able to deal with minor injuries while sending wrestlers who get seriously injured to the local hospital.
3) Rival Angels somehow got Dr. James Andrews just for situations like this, even though he not well known for fixing broken arms. If Sabrina ever blows out her ACL, though, she knows where to go.
4) The company’s worth can buy many small countries.
5) This “institute” has an endowment that’s bigger than all of the Ivy League schools combined.
Given all of that, why do they act like they’re the WWE when they’re really TNA? If they’re that big and can afford all of that stuff, why buy a stadium of your own when you could just tour across the US and the world?
Well, theoretically speaking, they built a location of their own so that their talent wouldn’t have to go to the ER. I mean, yes, if her arm is in fact broken and not merely in severe pain, the smart thing to do would be to send her to the ER, but you need the preliminary diagnosis first, and how many times has a person said they think something’s broken when it isn’t, only out of place and in demented pain? How many times have people broken something and failed to feel it at all? There’s no saying Sabrina’s arm is in fact broken beyond all repair and maybe Marina just has a sharp eye or something of a sixth sense about things like that. Granted, it is possible that Marina’s not calling the cops, but I wouldn’t be so quick to cry ‘CONSPIRACY!’ just yet.
Besides which you still have the fact that even if Sabrina did strike first and Marina isn’t calling the cops, the technical assault and battery or aggravated assault charge belongs to Hell’s Belles. Technically speaking, if they did ruin Heaven and Hell for everybody, including themselves what with Kat likely not getting the chance to be the first-ever Television Champion through having the shot taken away and Chloe now not being able to show to the entire world that the established competitors or true veterans still have what it takes, you also have the fact that they likely just ended their own careers, at least with Rival Angels, as well. Stupid, stupid woman, that Chloe DeSade.
Wow, all males in this comic are totally useless.
I could see this turning into a 3 vs 3. I mean have the Hell’s Belles ever gone THIS far when it comes to attacking people, not inside the ring? Wednesday can’t come soon enough! Damn you Al and your suspense filled waiting… lol
Sounds like by avoiding the hospital the police won’t be getting involved. Bad move.
I agree with ps2kid. Males are completely useless in this comic XD.
Marina knew what was up. I can tell. She is in on it.
I don’t know if there’s a conspiracy, but could be that Marina wants to avoid publicity before the Commish can decide what kind of spin to put on it.
Also, I’ll predict that Brooke is going to be very sorry for her remarks earlier and will try to bond with the Blonde One. Whether she’ll be successful or not remains to be seen.
Yeah, looks like a cover up to me, too. However, keep in mind that Vincent did call the police (or his brother-in-law the bouncer at the Dead Line, on the other side of town). Unless the hell bellies can make that security cam video disappear, there’s a record of the assault. Of course, the commissioner could probably make the video vanish much easier.
First thing, though, is to get Sabrina the medical attention she needs.
One more thing about “useless” men in this comic – Andre knows the limits of his training, AND he knows she needs a doctor. Tophat supplied the ride. And Vincent… ok, you got me. I guess Albone has a quota to fill to keep the female/male ratio less than two.
Nice work, by the way, Albone. You’ve got a lot of people hooked on this comic!
was Andre trying to avoid doing an anti-“Bones” impersonation there or was Sun’s fury turning his head to goo there? Granted Sun’s enraged but poor Andre got his head bitten off for not trying to show off and claim he knows more than he does.
i don’t think the bone is broken- looks to all be located at normal angles, though cracked bones might still be in the realm of possibility. maybe the Insitiute is closer than the hospital? but it does sound like Marina’s on damage control for the company and is probably calling Gabby as we speak in the last panel.
don’t throw the match out completely though for the PPV even with the Belles’ criminal-like ( -like added only because this is pro wrestling we’re talking about) activities. If they’re high tailing it to the airport and their personal jet they can be off to paris, where the PPV is being held (though not sure how from from this the PPV is datewise) before the cops can get after them. meaning they’d have to go through a bunch of red tape to extradite the Belles back to the states for any trial. so that might not happen until after the PPV allowing the matches to take place.
of course i claim no knowledge of law so that scenario could be 100% wrong.
hmmm!!!
Brenda said “Hell’s Belles, making a few calls!!”
now on that basis.. Hell’s Belles got backstage power, how will it work now..
Panel 1: Fix her? more like “Finish Her!!”
Hell’s Belles Wins!!!! Brutality!! “Whooopeee!!” Shao Kahn from the background said “Well Done!! buhahahah!!”
this episode is more like a Sweet Agony!!!
with that vrooomm!!! I think another car accident will be involve.. hehehe!!
I wonder what’s Brooke doing!!!

Sun is literary crying.. haha!!
crying dragon!!
jabberwocky, I think Marina is very good at thinking on her feet. On the one hand, she knows that going to their private facility has it’s advantages like a low profile, but Marina has shown that she genuinely cares for Sabrina’s career and well-being so she’s likely not sending her to some quack. I’d say you narrowed the possibilities of whom Marina is calling nicely. 😉 Sun’s pretty ramped up amidst the chaos and another good question of what Sun is going to do once the dust has settled.
Thanks Champ! Definitely a new wrinkle with going to a private facility than the ER. As for the Belles, we’re not going to wait long to see what’s up with them. I promise. 😉
DynaMoChen, it’s complicated, but yeah, something’s up. Plus, with how quickly Marina reacted, could this have been her first time in this situation?
JSN, the actual facility is NOT called the Rival Angels Institute, but if I was hoping to avoid it as the ‘ what is the Niamh Institute for Sports Medicine,’ The very next panel should help out with that. Great questions, btw. Rival Angels is set up like an NFL team where they have their own capabilities for MRI’s, X-rays, that sort of thing. The institute was modeled in more than one way after Dr. Andrews facility. 😉 As to the TV format, I based Rival Angels on the UFC, where the Ultimate Fighter is in one spot but the PPV’s travel all over. The Heaven and Hell PPV, for example is in Paris. Good catch with the stadium. I could’ve explained that better that it’s more of a ‘naming rights’ thing rather than them out and out owning their own stadium.
Tarrasque, some cool points there. From what I hear, a broken arm is not as painful as a fracture or muscle tear. Rich Franklin broke his arm against Chuck Lidell and WON and he still was landing punches with that broken arm. I’m not a lawyer but what I know from Illinois law is that even if Sabrina physically struck first, the worst she’d get wouldn’t be punishable with jail time but even then, she probably wouldn’t get anything considering the obvious threat and intent that the Belles had for Sabrina. Definitely a stupid move by a normally calculating veteran in Chloe DeSade. She got careless and these are some of the consequences.
PS2kid, I can think of 4 males that have appeared that have been very helpful, friendly and cheerful. Plus, Nick isn’t useless, he just happens to perform his role like it’s supposed to. This isn’t the Topher, Andre or Vincent’s shining moment but I’d say they were a victim of circumstance.
Hey Kurt! No, the Belles have never done anything like this before which will become evident by week’s end. 😉
Snowy, that is definitely a byproduct of avoiding the ER. The consequences and repercussions of that are going to be felt very shortly.
BBD, that is an interesting theory! We’ll find out more about Marina in a little bit when we see her next shortly.
darkmark, she is smart like that and that’s a good thought that she wants to give Gabrielle a heads up to spin the situation. Gabrielle loves almost any kind of attention that Rival Angels gets but will this be too far even for her? Good thinking with Brooke too and more on her soon as well.
Thanks GhostEraser! Vincent’s call went to Topher, which brought Krystin so that wasn’t so bad. The video is going to be icing on the cake. No one is in denial about what the Belles have done to Sabrina so it’s just a matter of catching up with them and seeing what Gabrielle’s reaction will be. Way to stick up for the guys too. 😀
jpiv, definitely the latter. XD Andre just got caught in the unintentional blast radius. Marina is a quick thinker but we’ll see if she made the right choice. I promise not to drag out the prognosis on Sabrina’s injuries. That is a wild and cool scenario for the Belles! And definitely within the realm of possibility for Chloe.
MGC, we are going to see the extent of the Belles power very soon. If Krystin’s not careful there very well could be an accident! Slow down, Def Tech. XD
Well, I have to say this is probably the most serious situation I’ve seen in this comic. I disagree with some of the comments about the broken arm. The most complicated part would be setting the arm, assuming it broke all the way through. X-rays and putting on a cast are not terribly difficult. Although I can say from experience that having it set is more painful than breaking it.
Also, Sun and Kristen came to help when Sabrina was hurt. Brooke did not. Not really a surprise at all.
They’re taking Sabrina with a possibly pulverized arm to a private facility as opposed to a regular Er?! That’s as crazy as a soup sandwich.
Why no hospital…?
Oh, so we’re avoiding publicity now, Marina? She claims to care about Sabrina, but why wouldn’t she want to get her to a hospital where she’d get the best care?
Ken, no surprise really that Brooke was ‘busy’ with something else. I promise not to keep you guys hanging on Sabrina’s prognosis. Maybe even something on Wednesday? I’ve heard the same thing about setting vs anything else.
Coel, it might be crazy but it’s currently the plan they’re going with. I think the big deal is that it avoids publicity that Gabrielle isn’t in control of. This too, with Sabrina’s best interests and what she means to Rival Angels.
Trevor, it would seem that Rival Angels has their own medical facility ala any major sports team like football and they don’t have to worry about filing any ‘unnecessary’ paperwork.
Amanda, I think there are some great hospitals out there but that doesn’t necessarily make them the best especially in this medical insurance nightmare. We’ll see how things shake out with Marina, Sabrina and the medical institution that Sabrina’s going to.
