Chapter: Chapter 16 - The Rumble Awards
Characters: Dawn Ellison, Jeff Krew
Oooooh, we have to wait until Monday to find out who the winner is. Any guesses?
Even at the Rumble Awards, Hell’s Belles attack on Sabrina overshadows the conversation.
Chicago!
Through the power of scheduled updates, I am updating the comic on Sunday, and I am currently attending Wizard World Chicago! If you happen to be around, be sure to visit me in Artist Alley at booth 3116 and say HI. I love saying’HI.’ XD
Voting Incentive!
We’ll find out the winner on Monday, but you can see by the look of the Voting Incentive that not everyone is going to be thrilled with the winner.
I am guess Sabrina will win it with Sun running a very close second, I am not Sun and Sabrina bias in my picks lol. The company is trying to make Sabrina the next big headliner so winning a an award and a possible title will do that. My swerve pick has to the “White Queen” De Sade, creates nice drama for the event, but would be bad PR for Company to award someone they just suspended for assault charges. Gotta love that “OMG giddy BFF” moment between Sun and Sabrina made me laugh.
Everyone is really trying to push Sun’s buttons lately, of course that is not hard after the last week she had. I have feeling when Xtina gets award tonight that she will be calling out a certain Dragon and bait her into a match for PPV. Great artwork, can’t wait for Sunday, and Wizard World this weekend.
I have feeling that bossman’s hint mean that either Kat or Chloe will actually win it. Though I love Sabrina’s big risk moves… The Katastrophe is a flat out POWER move and Chloe’s sleeper is classic wrestling.
So, I think I’m saying Chloe WILL get it, but Sabby shoulda’
WAITER!!!!!! Xtina’s glass is empty! some one fill it quick before she gets ninja’d!
So finally Chloe’s finisher is revealed. Too bad we won’t see it in action since Sabrina VS Chloe is cancelled.
I like Victoria’s finisher. That one looks crippling. Either hers or De Sade’s. I have never really been a fan of high flying these days since its been whored out. I blame Jeff Hardy for this.
I am rooting for Victoria then De Sade. I am just to heelish.
Oh and Xita is definitely growing on me. I love her snide remarks.
“SWEET AGONY!”
“SWEET AGONY!”
“WHITE QUEEN” CHLOE DE SADE WINS
I really love Chloe De Sade take the trophy..
and is that Sara Valentine? tapping out from the sweet agony?
I’m rooting for Sun, though I’m surprised her Dragon Breath isn’t the move that was noticed! She might do things with a flourish from time to time, but she gets the job done!
The fire spitting isn’t her finisher – it’s a desperation show off maneuver like “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert or Jerry “The King” Lawler’s fire ball to the face.
@Lora ~ Sun’s Dragon Breath is indeed cool, but it wouldn’t count as a finishing move.
Personally, my money’s on Sabrina for a few reasons, but the main one being it would be another thing to tick off De Sade, which could lead to more drama between the two in the future
Oh! You are so mean to make us wait! I’m going to git ya! Hmmm Here, have a ticket for a shoulder wheel ride ;;)
poor Sara- the demonstrate-ee of both Sun and Chloe’s finishers from what it looks like.
ironically i’m eliminating both Brina and Sun from winning this one- the old “roll out of the way” defense turns the momentum a full 180 when they crash and burn. Kat goes next, power finishers can run into trouble if you find yourself facing an Amanda Breaker (or trying to powerbomb Billy Kidman).
so it come down to Victoria and Chloe. Victoria’s looks brutal but Chloe’s- body is totally immobilized, no way to reach the ropes or even see them the way your head’s locked up upside down to add disorientation on top of everything else. Unless you’re string enough to power out of it you ain’t going anywhere.
since red X doesn;t show me the unhappy person in the VI i’m going to say Chloe wins it (seeing how the point was made that Chloe’s here). also i don’t think Chloe’s suspension is that widely known just yet outside of the Belles and Gabby but i could be wrong given the time between that being given out and the awards show. besides the voting could have been done before the suspension anyway- which appears to only affect in-ring appearances for Chloe.
Poor Sara; she’s my favorite.
I really like Chloe De Sade winning..
one: I really like to see what dress she’s wearing..
two: Chloe is my favorite.
Why is ‘Celt Warrior’ Brenda Rua’s not nominated?
I dunno. Voting Incentive’s not been showing up for me the past couple of days, but given the look on the face of the individual in the preview/teaser for the Voting Incentive, I’m willing to bet it’s either going to be Sabrina or Chloe.
Notice if you will, though, that Sara Valentine was one the recieving end of two of those moves. . . . But why five nominees? That’s kind of odd, both figuratively and literally.
Sara Valentine at least gets an appearance (two even)… though it seems she’s a mid-card JttS (jobber to the stars).
I love DeSade’s finisher – very sneaky technician heel motif. I also dig Xtina – she really never let’s things go (love her attitude).
How is sleeper a heel move? Now, HOW she sets up the move could use some rule bending.
Often times heels like DeSade have submissions as finishers. jpiv explains it very well.
The submission is a great heel finisher because of the giving up aspect as well as increading dramatic tension between the face and heel because it takes time to “break” the face.
sleeper reminds me a bit of the cobra clutch/million dollar dream. very easy to turn into or disguise a choke- sometimes the face commentators will call it that. right now the only person i think that uses the sleeper is Dolph Ziggler- a heel.
plus it works better for a heel because then the face gets to do the “almost out cold, fans get behind him/her, ref liftes the arm three times, doesn’t drop the third time, face recovers and eventually breaks out of the move” comeback routine. doesn’t work that well if you have a face applying it and the heel rallies out of it, because it makes the heel admirable in going through the comeback.
usually heels must almost always go for the rope break to get out of a submission move. the cheap escape route even though faces will do it sometimes too- generally only if the submission move is a finisher vs. a wear down move like the adominal stretch which no one uses as a finisher anymore. people always managed to escape that without using the ropes (hip tosses usually)
Picky, I wasn’t questioning the Sleeper doesn’t fit Chloe. It’s very fitting.
Chloe likes to dominate and control all aspects and the scissor/sleeper combo is perfect in that regard. I just questioned referring to it as a Heel move.
I was trying to clarify that heels in Chloe’s vein (controlling, manipulative, technicians) have submission finishers.
I think, in current wrestling thoughts, submission finishers have moved into heel territory.
Just catching up with the awards show and its a pretty neat concept thus far, I’d have to guess that Sweet Agony will get the nod here and upset some people, or maybe Sabrina will win it…Should be interesting on Monday.
voted but said page not available for preview pic! boo 🙁
Justin Riley here. Just thought I’d drop in with some comments.
The ‘Katastrophe’ could work on an Amanda Breaker……Jen Needles has got to be good for something. Heh heh.
The dominance factor was exactly what we were going for with ‘Sweet Agony’. Nice pickup, people.
As for Chloe’s appearance at the awards; The Rumble Awards are happening exactly where they fall in the story. Chloe has been suspended, but Gabrielle is smart enough to know that keeping her out of the ring and keeping her off of TV and away from the fans’ eyes are two very different things.
Don’t feel bad for Sara Valentine. She’s gotten to wrestle quality opponents without having a stellar win/loss record. Plus, there must be something about her that brings out the most photogenic aspects of the finishers she gets hit with. It’s the Rival Angels equivalent of being ‘posterized’.
Jen “Magnumn PI” is good for something . She’s a great toady and a very sound technical wrestler, not to mention being one of the dirtiest wrestlers. She sports one of the finest handlebar mustaches in all of Rival angels. She definitely has some real talent as I am sure every fan could agree on.
Waaaa!!!
‘Powergirl’ Katherine Smith!! can carry and execute ‘Katastrophe’ on Amanda Breaker?
unbelievable!!
I think he was insinuating that Amanda Breaker be the one to USE that move.
Actually, I was insinuating that Jen would help her ‘kitty Kat’ get the big ‘un up into the air. In that instance, she’d play Magnum to Kat’s Higgins.
Thanks Tarrasque
I think the nominees should have to go up there and melee brawl for the championship. Of course, that means Sabrina won’t win since theoretically no one would let her fight.
