Page 96 – Ultragirl!
And now Sabrina Ultragirl Mancini! She’s ready to put the losses to Loretta behind her, she’s ready to take the next step and get herself into the TV tournament , all the while entertaining the fans and bringing them along for the ride.
I have to say that this is my favorite page ever. Ever . I’m so happy with how panel 1 and 3 turned out, that if I could hit that look and form consistently I’d be a very happy artist. Plus, I had no idea how I was going to do the pyro in the second panel until I sat down to do it but I think it turned out well. Unfortunately, the little sparks are kind of lost on the web but I’m hoping that they show up in print.
MGC made a couple of different entrance packages for Sabrina. I’m not sure which one is better so let me know which one you prefer.
Either one is cool as hell to me.
As you can see, the fans are behind Sabrina and no matter what, we’re going to have one heck of a match up, starting next update!! Don’t ya dare miss it!
Oh yeah. So right about her. Look at the fire and energy. -That’s- the Ultragirl that was recruited to Rival Angels. Diaz is in so much trouble because this Sabrina isn’t shaken any more. Doubt it? Compare this to page 16. Just a still shot. No pyros. Not a lot of energy from her. Here, Sabrina could be setting off the fireworks just from how energized she is. This match, Ultragirl is finally going to show why she’s called that, and why she’s been called up so fast.
Firework!!! Ultracool… She really deserved fireworks. I really like Panel 2.. the titantron…
by the way, no anouncers like Lilian Garcia or Tony Chimmel?
“She Weightin in tonight at 135 pounds, She hail from Indianapolis, IN…..”Ultragirl” Sabrinaaaaaa……..Manciniiiiiii…..Mancini!!!” 😀
Panel 3: her eyes change? is like her determine to crush, destroy Loretta eyes are gone.. I think she should maintain that attitude like in episode 94.
Panel 5: Sabrina really like to give that gesture.. like on episode 69 she gave to Sun”
Sabrina hasn’t change her style.. she’s still attitude is still the same. On Sabrina’s mind “This match is for the fans and myself” it shows that Sabrina still used her heart over rage. so I think Sabrina will use same tactics, as she used too, and Sabrina will do more moves. great chances for her to win this match. Let’s say, Loretta pedigree Sabrina. 1…2…Surely she’ll kick out. So surely Sabrina will excell in this match, more moves. it will be a different “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini.. and Loretta will have a hard time. Very Very Hard Time…
Let’s say, “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini wins. I think it will have some side effects? I mean in the next match, Sabrina VS Jennifer, surely Sabrina will use same tactics, speed, and moves. but surely it won’t be in correct pattern or calculated moves. it short, She’s still not used to it as for now.
I really like “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini, with an attitude of Triple H.. “I’ll fight to gain the belt, like my life depends on it.” surely if Sabrina got that attitude, surely she’ll be “THE NEW RIVAL ANGELS HEAVYWEIGHT Champion”
I wonder why Sun, hasn’t got this match fans.. and fireworks.. and I really like the Hell’s Belle have fireworks too. maybe a Royal entrance..
I’m not a very Ultragirl fan. but just for now, I’ll go for “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini for the win.
But the way, what did Marina taught Sabrina? different moves? counters?
I think the “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini entrance is “Have a nice Day”
Coz she’s still having fan. serious type of wrestler. if maybe in the future, Sabrina had a Triple H kinda of Attitude, she can have that Oasis song.. the second..
Overall Nice Story… it’s better to see the match started on Monday than Friday..
Can I guess, this will be a squash match? this time “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini wins.. maybe a one page or two page?
I hope Sun’s next match… on Monday (Rival Angel Time) she’ll have this.. and also Hell’s Belle have this too..
I’ll still behind Sabrina for the win against Loretta Diaz. but, if it not enough.. she’s pumped up, full of heart, energy. what if it’s not enough. it’s like she fell abit short.. I mean Loretta pulling tights or using rope for leverage and which case Sabrina loss.
What will Marina say?
surely Brooke will pretend to be sad for Sabrina. but inside Brooke “Sabrina, your falling apart, your not Ultragirl” and there Brooke will gain confidence to herself
Right on Salazen, she’s fired up and ready to go!
M.G.C., it’s nice to see you’re on Ultragirl’s bandwagon, even if it’s only temporarily. I don’t think Sabrina will get a win-at-all-costs attitude, but you might be on the right track. It wouldn’t hurt for her to not play to the crowd as much. I wouldn’t want her to ignore them completely, that’s no way to treat the fans, but if she focuses on them instead of the match she’s more likely to lose.
Albone, I’m on dial-up and sometimes the more spiffy videos and stuff don’t work for me. I looked up the lyrics for “Have A Nice Day” by Bon Jovi, and it seems to be a good fit for Sabrina. However, I don’t know what the other song is so I couldn’t look it up, and, therefore, I can’t give an assessment of it. I would appreciate it if you (or anyone else) could tell me what it is. Thanks.

@A. mouse
Thanks. heheh, I just like to see Sabrina get her revenge on Loretta, for what Loretta did to her after the fatal four steelchair, and shaking Sabrina’s face.. that not cool.. and this is a huge stepping stone for Sabrina. Sabrina is facing her fear now, which is Loretta Diaz. I really like Sabrina do good here.
and about the second song.. “F***in on the bushes” by Oasis.. it’s an instrumental song.
Salazen, you’ve noticed how far Sabrina has come in the last 80 pages, from when she first made her pro debut. I’m thrilled that you are enthused with Sabrina and her chances against Loretta in this matchup.
I’m glad you liked the entrance MGC. I didn’t have enough room to put the announcers speech but you got it! 😉 I’m not sure even with Sabrina’s positive attitude, that she could kick out of Loretta’s pedigree. Getting your face slammed in like that would be a lot to take, but… you never know. But Sabrina’s as ready as she can be for this match and as you can see, she’s excited at the opportunity. No, not a squash match, not a one or two page match. 🙂 Its hard to say now what would Marina, Brooke, etc think of Sabrina if she loses this match, but more importantly, how would Sabrina take a fourth loss to Loretta and missing the tournament?
A Mouse, you’re just as fired up as Sabrina! Like MGC said, the other video has the Oasis song, FXXXing in the Bushes. Don’t let the title fool you, it’s instrumental and its what Oasis comes out to when they take the stage for a concert. Its got a good beat and Sabrina is an Oasis fan. This youtube link might work for you better though its not as cool as MGC’s version.

Looks like Have A Nice Day might be the intro music for Sabrina!
Is Loretta ticked ’cause she didn’t get fireworks?
Once again, a very kinetic page, a little from Sabrina’s actions and mostly from her feelings. Most Excellent portrayal of Sabrina’s state of mind illuminating the page through sheer force of will. Her thought boxes punctuate the presentation, the episode wouldn’t have been the same without them. I agree, the perspective in panel three is awesome, it would be a great image to use in promoting the comic.
Later in the match I just know someone is gonna show up with a steel folding chair, the only question is who.
This is the Ultragirl that has been promoted so heavily… I wonder what the commercials on the Chicago area TV stations looked like? I think they are like the ones for monster truck rallies…
I like the “Have a Nice Day” entrance. I suppose “In the Bushes” works if Sabrina is making some sort of speech.
Once again the audience is a character. Neat to see Sabrina shaking hands with the fans. I know nothing about the guy with the “Ultra Me’ sign in panel four… except he’d be a better boyfriend than Vince ‘Oh wow! I’m a wrestler too!” Creepy Stalker Fanboy.
What this leauge needs is a wrestler named Flower Power who’s dressed in psychidelic 60’s duds. her entrance song is , of course, Helen Reddy’s “I am Woman”. As a man on the near side of fifty, would I be the only one that would get it? How about a 70’s themed Disco Diva, her outfit is coverd in shiny sequins so she looks like a mirror ball? An 80’s Big Hair Girl, think the blonde singer form Heart?
Again off topic, I’m finding if I time it right I can vote three times in two days; 5 am, 10 pm and 5 am but it won’t accept another 10 pm vote on the second day. These are all Pacific time.
I’m not sure what happened in my previous post, the ‘going off topic’ warning I put in before “What this leauge needs…” didn’t show up. Is there a ‘how to use the comments’ tutorial somewhere?
how would Sabrina take a fourth loss to Loretta and missing the tournament?
-Albone
It’s True.. It’s True..how would Sabrina take a fourth loss to Loretta?
Two Types of Loss:
1. Sabrina loss, by Loretta’s dirty tactics. Like Loretta using the ropes for leverage. but the whole match, Sabrina really dominate. it’s like Sabrina let her guard down, and Loretta capitize a quick pin for the win.
here.. I think Sabrina will frustrated. with that loss, but it won’t change Sabrina. she’ll do more great in her next match.
2. Loretta squash Sabrina, from the first to the end.
here Sabrina will be in trouble.. Sabrina used all of her skill plus Marina’s advice then loss. really loss. surely Brooke will approach Sabrina. Brooke says to Sabrina “one loss isn’t that bad. admit it she’s better than you. and base on your first and second matches, all is base on luck. maybe luck went on her side”
here’s the trouble Sabrina will think that she’s not good enough in Rival Angels. self-esteem killer. in which Sabrina can’t really focus on wrestling and even entertain fans out. and even Marina tried to help out Sabrina.. Sabrina might turn on Marina. and blame her the cause of her losing.
It’s a matter how quickly Sabrina adopt Marina’s teaching here.
Either way.. Sabrina wins or loss, the story will be interesting.. Sabrina wins, she’ll gain confidence on herself in Rival Angels. but more trouble ahead of her.. surely Brooke..
Sabrina lose here, will be a dramtic, psycholigical for Sabrina. self-esteem killer will put her career in low.
Still…I’ll go for “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini for the Win.. I really like to see her get revenge on Loretta Diaz. specially that steelchair incident.
“An 80’s Big Hair Girl, think the blonde singer form Heart?”
Nah, the 80’s style contestants need to be a tag-team, names Glitter and Gold, using this as their intro music:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iocLd-Gi1pM
🙂 😉 😛
Sabrina VS Loretta..
Loretta surely got the advantage than Sabrina. in height and weight and even in wins.
Sabrina got the speed and high flying moves on her side.
For Loretta, she must do her old trick, and hope to come on newer dirty tricks. no more steelchairs, coz surely Sabrina rememebr that, and it might back fire. keep Sabrina grounded, counter her move, like when Sabrina gave Loretta a ultrakick, grab her leg and used it and execute the figure four or ankle lock. targeting Sabrina’s leg will definately chance the tide. which favors Loretta.
For Sabrina, New moves is must.. as stated “You’ve never faced this Ultragirl before, and I guarantee. That I show you something new” the problems of new moves, it’s not tested yet. or is Sabrina capable of doing it again. it might be her down fall here. find Loretta weak spot and then use it against her. just don’t over do the new moves. I suggest she’ll used more speed than high flying. surely Sabrina got a little bit of speed advantage and high flying than Loretta. use that against Loretta. Don’t let Loretta ground you. escape as possible.
Best of Luck to “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini and Loretta Diaz..
Still I go for “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini for the win.. 😀
I hope no one will interfer this match.
Hmm…
Who would be interested in interfereing in this match?
The Hell’s Belles, of course. But Chloe gave her girl the explicit order to stay out of htis fight.
And Brooke. But I must say that interferring against Sabrina at this point would be a really bad idea for Brooke. Because once she does, Sabrina will know that she can not trust Brooke any longer, so Brooke’s sweet talking “you’re my little sister” routine would immediately collapse.
On the other hand, openly antagonizing Sabrina might gain Brooke the attention of the Hell’s Belles. The Belles would probably welcome an ooportunity to harm Sabrina in a way that can not be traced back to them. So they might secretly approach Brooke and promise her covert support and later team membership in exchange for further sabotaging Sabrina’s carreer.
Roller Derby Fan, I don’t know what happened if your post got clipped. Did you include any html tags?
If Loretta were upset about not getting pyro, she’d be too cool to let anyone know but she knows that Sabrina’s in the middle of a big push, so not so angry as some others might be. Yes, indeed, the Ultragirl you’ve been waiting for has arrived!! 🙂 Thanks for weighing in on which entrance theme you like, it seems to be the popular choice. I like your suggestions for new wrestlers too! And thanks so much for voting as often as you have, I really appreciate it!
MGC, I think the bottom line here is that there’s a lot more at stake than just a shot at the TV tournament for Sabrina. We haven’t seen interference yet, so maybe we’re due for some?
LOL @ JackAce! Jem…. wow. Just wow. That was actually a comic book for a while too. I have to agree with your sentiments about Brooke and the Hell’s Belles. Back on page 70-71 the Belles talk about not interfering. They could change their mind, but I don’t see that happening. Brooke, yeah openly going against Sabrina could have some pro’s and cons, but Brooke’s going to have bigger problems than Sabrina when we see her next, which isn’t too far off.
Thanks M.G.C. and Albone for the information about the second song. It has attitude. 😀 I can definitely see Sabrina strutting her stuff to it. It reminds me of something, but I can’t remember what specifically. I think I’ve heard something like the beginning of it before on TV, but I don’t know where for sure. Anyway, it has a retro feel to it; it’s funky. I can see why Sabrina would like it, and an instrumental would be good for entrance music.
I’m glad to know I got the right “Have A Nice Day”, there were several, but that one seemed like the most likely one. Having heard both now, I can see Sabrina using either one as her entrance music, but it sounds like the ‘nice day’ one is the favorite.
Roller Derby Fan, what did you try to do to make “going off topic” look different? Some things will work one place but not another, so it would be nice to know what didn’t work here. And, maybe someone will recognize what you were trying to do and know a fix. I know of one place that uses *asterisks* to italicize words; to do that here you can use less than (<) and greater than (>) signs with an “i” in the first set to start it and a “/i” in the second set to stop it. Different sites seem to have different rules; the trial and error process can be a bit of a pain.
I like your ideas for people themed by decade, but what about the ’90s? Goth Girl? Emo Girl? Not appropriately dressed Girl? Or would that be the (double-oughts) ’00s? I’m being kind of silly about that.
And (jokingly) what ever happened to “peace and love”?
I think M.G.C. is right that Sabrina’s response to losing (if she does lose) will depend on how she did up to that point. If she fought well but lost, then she’ll probably be ok with it. If she gets defeated in a manner similar to how Brooke and Krystin, then she’ll probably have self-esteem issues.
JackAce, I haven’t seen Jem in a long time. Heck, I haven’t thought about Jem in a long time. That takes me back. I used to watch that show. One of my brothers hated it, but I liked to watch it. I can’t remember for sure about my other brother; I think he liked it, but I could be wrong about that.
I think Glitter and Gold would make a great tag team. But, why can’t there be more than one person/group per decade? The more the merrier! 😛 It could be fun to see what people could come up with. How about “Punk Rocker Girl”? Or “Glam Gal”? I could see a series of girls that take their names from different types of music, as well as the decades theme. I don’t follow wrestling that closely so if some of these ideas are already out there, and that wouldn’t surprise me.
-A. mouse
I like your ideas for people themed by decade, but what about the ’90s? Goth Girl? Emo Girl?
How about a raver?
I haven’t seen Jem in a long time. Heck, I haven’t thought about Jem in a long time.
I only rediscovered Jem very recently myself. So far I managed to find all but three episodes on Youtube and other online video sites. But the music videos are all there, even if the full episodes are not.
But, why can’t there be more than one person/group per decade? The more the merrier!
Sure. Especially if a certain decade was known for an ongoing rivalry between different subcultures.
Wow… didn’t realize I’d start a discussion on decade themed wrestlers… neat to see these ideas put forth.
I would think a goth girl would be seen as just that, the fad peaked a while back but people would know what she was. I suppose a 1920’s flapper would seem silly as would a 90’s Gibson Girl… 1890’s that is, but very daring for the era. Not Appropriately Dressed Girl? Some of the secretaries where I work did that back in the 80’s and their bosses would send them home to get better clothes.
Onward to Monday!
The disappearing text was, without the quotes, “”. I guess the ” ” signs mean ‘delete this line’ here on the comments board.
It happened again!!! They’re gone!!
The vanishing signs are the ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’ symbols that Anon Y mouse was able to post as ()
This must be a quirk…
How can Anon Mouse do this and I can’t? Greater- and less- than mean ‘vanish this text whenI type it.
Anon, you want to try it to see if it works the same way for you?
Here’s a test, a straight copy and paste of Anon’s remark:
you can use less than () signs
Don’t mean to be a board hog but I seem to have special symbol issues that others don’t. I’ll just be careful with strange text effects.
While we’re talking technicalities:
I like the new “Ultragirl vs. Loretta Grudge Match” banner. But I noticed that the link on that banner leads to page 1. Wouldn’t it be moe appropriate if it led to page 95 or 94 – the intro to the Grudge Match?
I’m not sure what’s up with the coding Roller Derby Fan. I can honestly say that I use the < > myself but I”ve only used it to italicize something. That is < i > (no spaces) and < / i > to close the italic tag. I would assume I could do the same with bolding. It may have something to do with your browser I suppose. I use Firefox and Safari.
Good looking out JackAce! I have made the change to page 95, though I might change it to Page 97 after its posted. Hmmm…
JackAce, “Raver Girl”, why didn’t I think of that? Oh, yeah, I’m not cool; never have been. 😉 Seriously though, I like your idea, too. I was joking a little bit with my ‘why can’t there be more’ question. I figured you were just throwing out examples, not saying they were the only options.
You said: “Especially if a certain decade was known for an ongoing rivalry between different subcultures.” I’m guessing you mean the ’60s or ’70s, but you could mean something else. I think most generations feel like they are fighting for their subculture, so an argument could be made for any of them. It might not be a good one, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t (or wouldn’t) be made. 😀
Regarding Jem, I’ll have to check that out sometime. But, because I’m on dial-up, it might take a while for it to load. And some sites don’t load well for me, if at all. And, while I liked it as a kid, I’m not sure how much I’d like it now. Regardless of that, thanks for telling me where I can find it.
Roller Derby Fan, first of all, thanks for starting the decade themed wrestlers discussion. It’s fun. Besides, what else do we have to do? 😉
I actually like your idea for a “Flapper Girl”, but I’m having trouble with costuming. I think it would have to be very stylized to work as a wrestling outfit. I picture a fairly flat-chested girl with a bob in an outfit with short fringe on it. I’d have the underlying outfit have shorts or have underclothing designed in a similar manner to cheerleading outfits (designed so that the ‘underwear’ can be seen without it being a problem). I think I’d make it sleeveless with a fairly short “skirt” so that it could be wrestled in easily. That’s also why I’d have the fringe be short, so that it wouldn’t be long enough that it could be used as a hand-hold. Her entrance music should be something in the 1920 style. I personally picture a brunette in yellow, but that’s definitely not a necessity.
I had to look up ‘Gibson Girl‘. Again, her outfit would probably have to be stylized. Possibly with a fake corset on the outside of the outfit and a skirt made of strips of cloth so that she could move. Depending on how far you went from the original, you could probably find something similar to that already out there. In the drawings on the site, I picture a brunette in a blue dress, but when I try and picture a wrestler I see a blonde in a black dress with the ‘ribs’ of the corset in a bright color like pink or green, which seems funny to me. :))
In regards to “Not Appropriately Dressed Girl”, I was thinking of girls who wear slips instead of dresses, and girls who wear clothing that is two sizes (or more) too small. You know, those girls that seem to be saying, <affects high-pitched voice> “I’m a full grown woman, but I’m going to wear something that’s too small for my 5-year-old to wear.” </affects high-pitched voice> *clears throat* Sheesh, that’s hard to do. Anyway, you bring up a good point; that kind of thing isn’t new. It makes me wonder what kinds of things you’re talking about that they were doing in the ’80s.
And, finally, about the greater than and less than signs; I used code that I learned about here. I typed an ampersand, lt (for less than) or gt (for greater than) and a semi-colon, like this (if this works): < = < , > = > . I wasn’t sure if they would show up otherwise. It sounds like this site tried to decode what you had written in the less than, greater than symbols, and it came up with nothing so it rendered what you wrote as nothing. If you don’t want to deal with coding you could do what JackAce did when he said, ‘While we’re talking technicalities’, and put a colon after it (and double-return if you want to); or you could say you’re ‘going off topic’ and then use a dash. (Or you could not worry about it and just type what you want to say; I’ve been on several sites where commenters go ‘off-topic’ seemingly on a whim, so it’s probably ok; and Albone would probably let you know if it wasn’t.) I’m going to type a less than sign after the colon to see if it disappears: < . I’m using Firefox right now, so if that works, then you’ll know why.
-A. mouse
Let’s see if IE works: < .
-A. mouse
MGC, why don’t you try make Sabrina’s entrance using Create-An-Entrance feature in Smackdown VS RAW game.
