Chapter: Chapter 19 - The Big Night
Characters: Sun Wong, Xtina Carpenter
Wooo, these girls are getting nasty. This match didn’t start off personal, but we got there in a hurry.
Happy Memorial Day!
For all the US readers, Memorial Day commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military. Thanks to all the veterans who sacrificed to keep us safe and sound.
Voting Incentive!
The match continues! Get a sneak peek by seeing what’s coming up on Wednesday!
War has been declared!!! Damn!
Panel 1: Sun executed flying kick onto Xtina,
Panel 2-3: Sun executed headlock take down on Xtina, then quickly did headlock takedown.
Panel 4: Xtina countered her own scissor necklock,
Panel 5: Sun escapes
Panel 6: ?
Sun said “if Brina can beat you, I’ll have your fat ass wrapped in five”
So could mean that Sun can beat Xtina in less time? nah? I doubt it..
and Sun said “fat ass”
Panel 7: Xtina called Sun “little hood rat”
hmm..
WWE
I remember Laycool called A.J. “mice!!” and tease A.J. what some cheese..
in Rival Angels, SUn do resemble like A.J.
as Monica Rumble to Jamie Keyes
Miss a week due to wedding and all hell breaks lose lol. This match is starting to break down and it just began, lets hope the med techs are resting while they can cause this gonna be a brutal one.
A hood rat is a put down based on where Sun’s from (lower class area of Detroit). Looks like this is going to be a vicious and fast match.
I- But- Well… I don’t think- That is to say- Of all the things that can be said, I think only one thing really applies here.

Kick to the Head!
I approve of this.
*nods*
GO SUN!
Hey Alan,
I’m only now catching up. Loved seeing the old Towers of Terror a few days ago.
A couple of thoughts:
1. Your coloring looks better. Are you still coloring this yourself, or are you working with someone new?
2. 535 pages is A LOT. Congrats!
3. Are you merchandising? I want a Rival Angels T-Shirt. Or, better yet, an RA biking jersey!
That’s all I got.

I wonder where is Ultragirl/Sabrina in all this ?
I mean I was hoping she would cheer on her best friend during this match ? 🙁
Well I am not sure I approve the attack to the eyes. Huring your opponent like that is way over the line as it could cause a serious injury. Just for that I hope she gets her butt kicked.
I don’t know Xitna has a way over inflated ego, and an attitude of well yeah. She needs to be taken down a few pegs.
Yeah, the eye gouge was excessive, I would have gone for a knee drop in Xtina’s midsection followed by a couple witchslaps instead, but that’s me. And I finally figured out why Xtina’s outfit bugs me, she’s missing half of her pants! Detached pant legs, seriously? Must have picked it up in Paris, from one of those “crazy designer” collections. It’s like she’s wearing chaps, but dorkier. 😉 (Yeah, Albone, I know it’s hard to keep every girl looking distinctive and awesome, just giving the character heck)
That eye rake is bad tactics. It opens the doors for retribution. And Sun can’t match what Xtina can bring when the gloves come off.
Hey, we all knew going in to this match that Sun was the “heel” so I’m not surprised by the Eye rake at all. Xtina wants to start getting personal with her insults huh? Bad move. I know from experience that that’s just going to get you a harder ass whupping. Sun just might try to kill her with a forklift
I’m not a huge fan of the eye rake either, but Sun IS supposed to be the dirty-fighting heel in this match, and the discussion between the two makes it kind of hard to tell, without hearing Jeff. I’d rather have an eye rake than Damage Inc interfering constantly.
Xtina is making it all about meanness and attitude, which is precisely what you don’t want to do against Sun. Xtina’s bigger, stronger, and more experienced than Sun, but instead the match is looking to be about sheer ruthlessness and willingness to keep hurting the other person, and that’s Sun’s THING.
Al I think Im in love with Sun
Dyna, it. Is. On. (nod to Tarrasque)
MGC, it just goes to show you that the WWE Divas read Rival Angels and get their ideas from here. XD As to Sun, it’s not so much whether or not she believes that she’s better than Sabrina. It’s reminding Xtina that she lost to one rookie and in danger of losing again.
WB jabberwocky! Glad you’re caught up and just in time too. The medical team and the security detail are at the ready…just in case. 😉
Tarrasque, I couldn’t say it better myself. lol
Hey Golden Girl! Glad you’re on the same page as Team Sun. XD
Hi Dan! Thanks for stopping by! Thanks for the coloring compliment. It’s been all me since about page 42. I’ve been banging ’em out! lol Oh man, a bike jersey would be crazy cool. I’ve gotta go see about that.
Marcus, have faith that while Sabrina is intently preparing for her match with DeSade, she is cheering and supporting Sun 100%. BFF! And we may have an Ultragirl sighting before the end. 😉
Snowy, it’s way dirty pool, but Sun never said she fights fair. Expect that line to get stomped all over.
Tiffany, I think it’s exactly what Sun is thinking too. 😉
Cookie Ogre, I totally appreciate the need to give some of the girls the ‘business.’ It does look like she’s missing half her pants, eh? lol I *think* they’re boot coverings with bikini bottoms. I don’t know for sure what they’re called but they were everywhere at Anime Central.
Brenda, as usual, you bring up a good point. It’s a hard thing to acknowledge, but Sun probably loses in a straight up wrestling affair against Xtina, in which case, it leaves no incentive for Sun to fight that way. Of course, Sun IS a former champion and just might have a surprise or two up her sleeve.
Donny, she’s just getting the preliminaries out of the way with the eye rake. You are very wise to be wary of the forklift.
Ooooh, Dragon Man! yes, Sun wins out on ruthlessness every time. But will that be enough to get her the victory. Nikki and Kyra do offer some assurances, but we know that can backfire just as easily. I don’t usually grey up the place as it concerns heel vs face, but I knew what we’d get when reader-favorite Sun goes against face Xtina. Fun times!
It’s understandable, Comichero. You can’t help it.
Fun fact: if Sun’s name was something other than Sun, that previous post of mine would’ve said “where shines.” I just couldn’t do it, though.
I’m going to say “yes” on the question of whether or not it will be enough. In real life terms, it’s because aggression and follow-through will trump size, strength, and experience every time, in situations where the ref’s not a sissy (still smarting over my own loss). In narrative terms, it’s because Xtina’s fighting the match on Sun’s terms, and is violating the “quit showboating and get the job done” principle that Sabrina’s been coached on, with her playing to the crowd.
Go Li’l Dragon!
Stupid formatting. “Where ‘wrestler’ shines” is what I meant. Couldn’t do that with a wrestler named Sun, obviously.
Heh. It’s all good. And that’s a good point about Xtina’s showboating and how it relates to the Upstarts telling Sabrina to check her showboating.
Xitna is a face only to the fans, in all do honesty her type bugs me a lot more than any others except Helle’s belle’s she’s a bitch who tries to hide how bitchy she is. She’s the type who would smile at you in front of other people, and then stab you in the back first chance she gets, probably with a poisoned dagger. Sun makes no bones about the fact that she’s willing to bend rules when it suits her purposes.
Keep going and don’t skimp on the pain. For either.
Panel 5: Always reminds me of the game Baldur’s Gate – “Go for the eyes Boo!” heh… Great action to start off, I think the more pissed Sun gets the stronger her game becomes. That or she’s just trying to prove a point and put the proverbial maple syrup on this Canuck.
When the going gets tough, someone hold my rodent!
LOL. Priceless. love it
Getting mad is generally a mistake. Sure it makes you more willing, maybe eager, to hurt. But that doesn’t make you better. Far from it. You miss things and make mistakes. If I can make someone mad then I’m deep in their head and well on the way to owning them. I’m more worried by cold calculated meaness like that of Black Widow or the Towers. So I think Lazy T is on the right track because I doubt Sun has the experience to control and direct her anger. We’ll see.
Go Lazy T!!!
Tiffany, I think I need to have a segment where we find out that Xtina and Halle Berry are friends. XD I think you nailed the differences between Xtina and Sun. It doesn’t hurt that Sun knows that there’s some heat between Xtina and Sabrina and is sticking up for her friend, so to speak.
Will do, darkmark. 😉
Kurt, I think that may be a Sun axiom. We’ve seen her explosive anger before and you could say it cost her in the rookie fatal four way. But, that was months ago in comic time. XD Yum, maple syrup!
Champ, that is outstanding! I actually had a bit where Marina was going to say almost the very same thing to Sabrina…but it got cut for time/space. Getting upset did give Sabrina an edge, but it turned against her after it wore off. Sun is a different kind of fighter, but it remains to be seen if we’ll get a different kind of outcome.
Dear 10tina, using Anime Central as your fashion guide – bad idea. 😉
ok it ate my earlier post before since i didn;t realize i wasn;t signed in for whatever reason. so far both gals playing to their strengths, Sun with the flippy stuff (and eye rakes) while Xtina’s trying to keep her grounded. I think going by the VI Sun’s going high risk a bit early in the match as Xtina hasn;t been worn down enough to not be able to do some sort of catch/backbreaker/um i forget what the move in the VI is- surfboard? combination. i feel ashamed…
Xtina’s panel 4 taunting however requires a WWE-like short term memory where everyone forgets that brina beat xtina already so the loser comment might have some legs to it. Sun alas can remember back a few hundred updates and thwart that diabolical plan.
still rooting for Sun even though i expect Xtina to win.
The “make the other person mad” strategy is insanely high risk, and best utilized if it’s technical vs technical. They’ll screw up the chess match for sure. If your opponent is just trying to smash you, it’s exactly the wrong thing to do, because it just means they’ll be hitting you harder and be less likely to show mercy. And anyway, you’ll be lending them the adrenaline to make them stronger, tougher, and more determined to win, which isn’t a good idea ever. If you want to get into somebody’s head to give yourself an advantage, try fear – make them weaker, less willing to commit, and eager to get the match over with, win or lose.
It’s POSSIBLE Xtina’s anger strategy could pay dividends against a high-flier like Sun, causing her to misjudge opportunities and set herself up for counters, but Sun doesn’t strike me as an “uncontrolled fury” sort of person. She seems more like a controlled-mean, use-the-anger-as-a-weapon type, and it’s exceedingly unwise to use head games against that sort of person.
I think you’re right about Sun as a long term potential. But she is most def not there now. She’s way too inexperienced. She hardly knows herself at this point. Just look at her history. Right now her anger makes her a tool. The only question is if Xtina has what it takes to use her.
Hey, don’t forget, Just because Sun’s a rookie to Rival Angels, that doesn’t mean that she’s a rookie to the game. She had a year in training with “Cannonball” Kyle Pallas, then was picked up by Akira Star, wrestled in Japan, and was in the Indy leagues for a bit. Sun might be new to the Company, but she’s no stranger to the game.
As someone with a temper issue, I know my bad attitude caused me some losses… usually its because I want to get right back in the momentum and not gauge the situation… or if I get the upperhand I may try and win too quickly and miss a critical move…
My worst slumps are usually when I have some bad luck or get caught off-guard and then make it worst by getting angry.
Sun has a temper… and Xtina loves to trash talk… and we saw how she lashed out during the tag-team match that she wasn’t even in!
Ouch, she totally went for the eyes. Dirty fighting, Sun. But I like it. 😉
OH!
And I was so happy to see ‘Brina and Sun make up (with hugs!) while I was unwell!
Yay for BFF!
Glad to have you back safe and sound. I know Sun and Sabrina are happy to see you too. XD
