Chapter: Chapter 19 - The Big Night
Characters: Chloe De Sade, Sabrina Mancini
Sabrina needs to sustain more of her brand of offense if she wants to win. At this rate, playing De Sade’s game is going to be counterproductive at best. We know Sabrina is already gassed from her hellacious match with Kat before. A hold like this grueling bodyscissors saps your strength and takes even more as you try to escape. Can Sabrina last?
Sabrina vs Chloe-History
In case you’d like a refresher into the history between Sabrina and Chloe, I set up a little something here. Enjoy!
Voting Incentive!
Is the beginning of the end coming up on Monday? Vote to find out!
The eternal struggle of good vs evil and foreign objects… great sequence boss… and
PS – Mo Chen said Spear!
good vs evil..
Chloe is good VS Sabrina is evil..
haha
Yep, you called it! Ka-Ching! LoL
**marks out!!** lol
You would think Sabrina would be smart enough to keep Chloe away from the bag or at least help herself to some of the toys.
Python legs?
so is that mean Chloe’s leg are big? or muscular legs?
I think it’s a joke, JGC. The coffee table in my suite has better legs *grins*
Brenda have better legs..
Sexiest Angel winner..
surely Brenda have.. hehe
Before Chloe’s sex change she was a cross country runner so big legs are not a surprise. See the unofficial history of Chloe.
Silly Dawn. Pythons don’t HAVE legs!
Having big bulgy legs no mean you have tighter scissor hold. Mo Chen leg about size of Brenda’s but aiii-yaaaa her scissors lethal. It all about the abductors and inductors…
I never look forward to getting caught by you either! I’d have more options when we roll if they weren’t so wicked!
Very nice chapter, boss! I love the rays, especially panel two. The blocks are sweet. And the last panel is hot. But I could wish Chloe had given me an ankle like that. I’d have taken it home with me.
Still, Brina is learing. She’s got a base and posture. Looks like she’s getting another lesson in the VI 😀
Well if she had gotten me in that scissor hold I would have done a double ax to her belly.
Amen Brenda and Snow. Mo Chen would have stood, hooked the legs and gone for a Boston Crab reversal. Afta’ working Chloe’s abs before – lets see how far her back bends!
The Boston Crab reversal is one of the two I thought of first, and the one I would probably go with. Good call, Mo Chen.
Keep it going!
I’m sure Albone will. I’m waiting for the movie to come out.
I would even go for an animated series….!
Block, setup, and BAM! Solid attack! The spear is awesome. I love the look on Chloe’s face, too. Nice little counteroffensive. Wish it could’ve lasted.
The scissors thing still mystifies me. I mean, I could see how being scissored by Chloe could be deadly, but more in a long-term, biological warfare sort of way. Maybe the scent is sapping Sabrina’s endurance? As far as actual grappling technique goes, though, it seems more like a method of forfeiting the match than it does something you think you’ll win because of it. I know several submissions Sabrina could easily shift to from there. At least one of which I learned from watching pro wrestling. Oh well.
Typing with a curious, newly adopted kitten in your lap is tricky.
Not that I’ve got the same criticisms about the scissors as I did the previous update. I know people use it in wrestling, and Sabrina, unfortunately, ended up perfectly positioned for it. I’m just skeptical about how effective it would really be as a submission, rather than a way to hold the opponent off and get a breather.
Indeed, Xenia Onatopp this woman ain’t.
Us Kittens can be a lot of fun. Remember now that she is letting you live with her treat her well. Oh and if it is a guy becareful, adults males tend to mark their terriority if they are not fixed.
I think scissors are great for show manship. Just think how helpless you’d like to be in those legs.
The kitten – Trouble – is a girl, and small enough and bold enough to stand on the back of my hand, front paws on my fingers, to take a swat at Camaro, my large adult male gray tabby. Trouble is a tabby as well, in brown tones. She started out hissing at Camaro a lot, which made me wonder if I’d end up keeping her, but they’re getting used to each other and starting to play. Apart from that, she’s a sweetheart. Reminds me of Camaro as a kitten.
As for how helpless I’d like to be in those legs, see my “biological warfare” and “scent” comments above. 😛 If I wanted to play with a psycho chick who speaks French, I’d have asked out this girl I know when she was between fiancees.
… And I happen to be scheduled to hang out with her and her family tonight. D’oh!
YES!
*Shadow boxes along with ‘Brina!*
That’s it…Gah!
*wince at scissor hold!
Come on ‘Brina, you got out once, you can do it again girl!
I look at the last panel and think belly kneading time!
If Sabrina had taken a massage class like me, her deep tissue instructor would’ve showed her how to take a thumb and trace a ligament descending from a floating rib (I’m up late and I can’t remember the exact wording). It feels like you’re being knifed.
It would be fun to hear how loud Chloe can scream.
Sounds good to me. Hold still Chloe while I find a pressure point.
It just takes a quick swipe of hand, hon.
I wonder if Chloe will do that to a fan.. namely a number one Chloe De Sade fan?
I am sure she would be more than glad to beat you with her chain. The hard part might be getting her to wear her leather outfit while she does it.
Man, if she wouldn’t even spend the time to have dinner with her fanclub in her home town, her #1 fan getting between her legs is pretty much a pipe dream. *pats your back* Sorry to have to tell you.
ITS NOT GREAT. De Sade should not have that level of talent or skill. To me it feels forced like oh suddenly de sade is a decent wrestler nothing we’ve seen has shown her to have any kind of skill level to suddenly come up with it now strains belivability by a lot. Sabrina should have caught her with that kick and bam match over. De Sade just shouldn’t have the skill level to go toe to toe with sabrina if she did she would have actually won more of her matches..
Then again you are not taking into account that Sabrina had the snot kicked out of her earlier that day.
This is not a remarkable level of talent or skill. Quickly applying the guard or half-guard when in trouble is the first ground fighting skill I acquired. It took me about two seconds to learn, in my first ground-fighting lesson in judo class. Chloe doing it isn’t a show of incredible skill, but a reflection of the fact that she’s seen the inside of a training facility at some point in the past.
Having the presence of mind to do it immediately after she’s been speared isn’t bad, but then, Chloe’s not a complete rookie either. I’m with you in thinking that she’s surely not as skilled as the other top-ranked Angels, but she did actually have to get there. I’m not terribly surprised that she can apply some basics in a bad situation.
Give Chloe the credit of being at least good enough to be in the ring long enough to cheat against the best, at some point in her career. If you try to take that away from her, you’re shaming all of Chloe’s past opponents and the whole organization.
I dunno, my impression has always been that Chloe can be a pretty good grappler — but only when she -has- to be. Despite her cocky demeanor, it’s looking like she might actually have a game plan (aside from the tote bag full of heel goodies, that is). She’s using a lot of moves to wear Sabrina down, particularly in the areas she knows have been weakened (arm, back). That’s probably good strategy for this type of match. The preview for Monday looks like a continuation of that, but of course we’ll see if she can keep it up or if Ultragirl has an answer for it.
PS – I note there’s still a portion of the crowd chanting for Chloe. Sabrina is running on adrenalin right now, but I do have to wonder how well that will hold out if she loses the crowd, since she’s used to drawing on them for support. No the biggest factor in the match, but definitely something to consider.
That was a fairly indytastic wrestiling exchange right there.
Even without all of the wrestling-style counters, Chloe is in a perfect position to be tickled senseless. It’s an “I Quit” match, every tactic is legal – even the silly and humiliating ones!
I like how you think, Mr Ogre! *grins*
Hmmmm… I’m beginning to think that Chloe is an OK wrestler, with enough experience to make it a draw with Sabrina, but – and this is a but the size of Amanda Breaker – she doesn’t have the endurance to last an entire match, hence the need for the weapons to shorten the match. There’s no way Chloe can keep going head to head with Sabrina and win…
Glancing at the VI, I’m curious how Chloe managed a transition from guard scissors into the figure-four head scissors…
I dont know the last two pages have me shaking my head theres just no way she can go from on her knees to on the offensive that quickly just really breaks belivability for me. And I doubt she has any real talent, someone who cheats and takes short cuts like that CANT have any real talent.
Tiff, there are moment we don’t see… like Sabrina popping up to block that chain swing from being on the mat…
well from what we’ve seen so far it looks like Chloe’s technique is lower body based technical which is a switch from pretty much anyone else i think. most of the others take to the high flier routine.
as for the effectiveness of the body scissors i think the idea is that the ribs are being pinned making it tougher for brina to breathe which in the long run may affect her stamina rather than something that’s out to win now. but you have to watch your positioning carefully because most of the time your down on the mat to which mkes you vulnerable to being pinned. and too given her lack of body weight Chloe is vulnerable to being overpowered and revresed by a stronger opponnent.
don;t forget ‘Sweet Agony’ is based in part on Chloe’s using the leg scissors there too so she’s also softening Brina up in the area her finisher is aimed at as well. which is sound tactics. wonder if Chloe has noticed the irony that whenever she tries to use an international object she gets beaten on but when she settles down to actually wrestle she gets the advantage.
also cool move by Chloe to use the momentum of the spear to turn it into an offensive move of her own. dare i say Chloe is turning into the Maryse of facial expressions in this match? (see panel 4 for the latest evidence)
It was a sweet move, but given what we’ve seen of even an injured Sabrina’s strength, I can’t call it tactically sound, even if she IS slowly picking on a single area. I’m kind of disappointed with Sabrina in not being able to counter this. Physically, she’s certainly capable of it. She really, REALLY needs to develop her ground game, if something this simple has her stumped.
That scissor is more effective if defender’s ribs are hurt first. At this point it makes breating a little hard, but every bit helps if the other is breathing hard. I suspect Brina is. On the other hand you’ll ass your legs out pretty fast too.
SPEAR! SPEAR! SPEAR! Butt like I said before, looks like both gals are focusing on the midsection. Chloe’s gone back to that scissor hold, but she made the mistake of leaving Brina’s arms free. Now Brina has an open shot at her lower abdomen and floating ribs, not to mention throwing elbow to knot up those quadriceps.

Thanks Dyna! The continuation of good vs evil in a wrestling ring!
MGC, Chloe is Cena. Sabrina is CM Punk. XD Let’s call Chloe’s legs, ‘strong.’ As to whether Chloe would do that to a fan, sure, she would hit them with a chain. XD
Thanks Champ! Well, Chloe would know better than to try something like that with you. 😉
Will do, Darkmark.
DragonMan, Sabrina’s certainly going to TRY and get the offensive back. As for the bodyscissors/body triangle, Sabrina hasn’t tapped out to it. Not by a longshot. I mean, she’s gotten out of it before, hasn’t she? But, you have to admit, it’s something that Sabrina hasn’t see a lot of and you just know that Krystin and Brenda are wishing someone would try that with them. I can tell you too that there’s been plenty of times watching The Ultimate Fighter that I was screaming at the TV for someone to get out of an obvious easy hold. It’s frustrating. 😛 And at the end of the day, Sabrina’s still in a guard.
That’s the spirit, Golden Girl! There’s a good chance that Sabrina can get out of this, counter it even! Unless, Chloe switches to something else….?
Coel, but then she couldnt’ have you work on her sore muscles after the fight. 😉
Tiffany, I understand your disdain for De Sade, but she wouldn’t be in Rival Angels if she didn’t have any skill. Gabrielle doesn’t keep bums around….well….Don’t forget that Sabrina’s is exhausted from going a match with Kat Smith and that losing the title when it was so close might be more damaging than the Katastrophe power bomb she took.
Big K, you bring up some powerful points there. Chloe hasn’t had to turn it ‘on’ for a while, but she’s not disappointing. The crowd, like you said, isn’t a huge factor, but it’s going to come into play, naturally. I mean, Sabrina’s got to feel kinda crummy that people would still cheer someone like De Sade.
Chris, that is a super nice compliment. Thank you!!
Cookie Ogre, I think you’ve uncovered the perfect strategy that not even Krystin could’ve gamed for….!
GhostEraser, that is a heck of a way to look at the current argument. Just how good is Chloe’s cardio in something like this? Of course, going toe-to-toe with Kat Smith doesn’t do do well for your cardio either, as Sabrina knows first hand.
jpiv, this is an example of Chloe’s general strategy. Using her powerful legs on a softened up opponent. It might not be sporting, but it’s done her well so far. You can’t forget the Sweet Agony either. The body scissors is almost as important as the dragon sleeper part of it. Glad you liked Chloe’s expressions lately. XD
Donny, that is a good point about Sabrina’s arms being free. Now what will she do with them next? 😉
Uh oh, where is the chain? It went MIA so either Chloe has it in her offscreen hand in the last panel and Sabrina’s in more trouble or it is safely out of arm’s reach. No telling.
from what i can it looks like the spear knocked it out of Chloe’s grasp so it’s lying somewhere in the ring right now the best i can tell.
I promise I drew it! It’s in panel 4, just under the word balloon for SPEAR. It’s the very little black in front of the middle rope. I, uh, might have to fix that up a bit.
Good point! Adds to the tension nicely…
ah yes i see it now- was camoflauged by the cage proper.
Gabriel would keep anyone in long as they made money and kept things interesting. De sade and hells belles don’t need talent for that since they cheat in every single match, and I do have nothing but contempt for de sade she shouldnt have been able to get up on her knees that quickly, and Brina got herself fired up right before the match so no her mental state isnt really a factor. De Sade shouldnt even come close to winning this match, in every pannel we have seen de sade before this she’s been nothing but a coward who only hits people when they are down, or when they are not looking, to see her actually fight just does not go with her personality.
sigh….Tiffany you exhaust me….
Irrational heel poster, meet irrational face poster!
Yeah, today, the criticism is all for the characters. Chloe’s slick trick was slick enough to frustrate Sabrina, but only because neither of them seem to know what to do in that situation. Chloe couldn’t stop Sabrina from taking a powerful, dominant position, and Sabrina’s ground game isn’t good enough to exploit it. You’re right; it’s definitely frustrating!
The issue I had yesterday doesn’t show up at all in this page. The action flows very well. I can feel the progression.
Its not irrational couple days ago I went through all the archives the only time De Sade attacks is when she has the upper hand. Any time someone else even comes close to hurting her she rabbits out and runs away, thus going toe to toe with Brina is completley against what we have seen of her character thus far. And there should be no way she could have gone from her knees to the attack, or blocked Brina like that.
Same old tactics DeSade… I mean don’t you know how to actually wrestle? 😛
Y’know, Tiffany, I’m not a fan of De Sade’s attitude and behavior either, but this is the first time we’ve seen her in a situation where she’s forced to fight one-on-one. Preferring not to fight fair doesn’t mean she can’t handle herself one-on-one at all. Just means she’s ruthless, and fights as a criminal would, rather than an athlete. We’ve never seen how she handles the current situation, just like we’d never seen Brenda or the Black Widow fight before the previous match.
Honestly, Chloe’s not had that great a showing so far, and Sabrina is still a rookie, albeit a talented, strong, enthusiastic one. Chloe is a veteran technical wrestler, supposedly at the level where she can get a title shot, and is exactly the sort of wrestler to take advantage of the weaknesses in Sabrina’s technique. And yet so far she’s managed only a very weak offense, even counting the scissors she managed to save herself with twice now, more to defend herself than do any real damage. And this is with Sabrina pre-wounded and on her second match of the night. Looking over the match so far all at once, Chloe hasn’t suddenly shown a huge amount of skill we couldn’t have guessed at before. She’s barely managed to avoid being the night’s designated punching bag.
Chloe has, so far, failed to demonstrate that she’s good enough to be on the Rival Angels roster, let alone near the top. And that’s before factoring in behavior issues and ethical concerns. She’s not on the level of even Krystin or Sara Valentine, let alone veterans like Brenda. No wonder she’s been so nasty about incoming talent.
Perhaps Chloe has a bit of the Chris Jericho mentality. As a heel Jericho has routinely fled from direct confrontation, stacked the deck in his own favor, hidden behind allies, etc… but he’s also capable of hanging with the best in the business when his back is against the wall. I mean, the guy was able to become the first ever undisputed champion by defeating both The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in a three-way dance, and he’s come back to be a multiple time world champion since then, usually to the intense frustration of those annoyed by his cowardly ways.
A similar example might be the early days of the Four Horsemen. The vast majority of fans were sure that Ric Flair couldn’t hold on to his belt without the help of his allies, but when the stakes were the highest he came through again and again. My point here is that frequent cowardice, cheating and/or abuse of the upper hand doesn’t automatically mean that the perpetrator is unable to deliver on their own if need be.
It does seem apparent that Chloe has had a fair amount of success “offscreen,” based on the fact that she is the head of Hell’s Belles and by reading between the lines of the way they’re mentioned in context of the other characters. Beyond that, we readers really don’t know what she is or isn’t capable of in the ring. But we’re finding out pretty quickly. 🙂
YOu know Al Shinai are in credably hard im surprized that Bree was able to snap that on her leg, but Bree Chloe’s abdomine i wide open i saw give her hat she want several hard punches to the stomach
No one taps out or quits to a body scissors, and its not about to happen now. Monday’s preview how ever, well that could actually happen. lol
See I disagree I dont think de sade has that level of talent I dont think she should be capable of a one on one battle, why because if she were she would not use such tactics we also know she’s lost one on one matches like the strap match against Yvonne if she cant win one of those wtf hope does she have against brina? De sade should not even be able to go on offense at all especially after being forced to her freaking knees. Attacking in that situation is totally outside of her character.
Tiffany, your argument is pure idealism. Big K has offered a few names of famous wrestlers who only fought fair as a last resort, but could, in fact, hold their own when they needed to. Chloe could, theoretically, be capable of fighting without using superior numbers, ambushes, etc. We just hadn’t seen her try, before this match.
Now really, apart from a brief surge, this match has been a pretty disappointing showing from Chloe. We know she’s lost in the past against Yvonne and Brenda, but she’s also won some too, and she’s considered to be on the top tier of Rival Angels wrestlers right alongside them. I’m still cheering for Sabrina, but really, I expected Chloe to make this a good fight, just by virtue of her rank and status within the organization. I’ve pointed out Sabrina’s advantages, but more as a justification for why she might well win a hard-fought match, not an expectation that she’d win an easy victory. So far, though, Chloe’s barely managed to show that she can fight back against Sabrina.
Your objections to Chloe managing to put up a token resistance to Sabrina beating her like a government mule puzzle me. I’d rather see Sabrina win a good match than expose Chloe as a complete fraud, and by extension cast doubt on the entire organization.
Keep up the good posting!
You probably already know how this lightweight pretender
slammed Pacman for not taking Floyd Mayweather’s imperially commanded random blood tests.
In her early thirties, Lola oozes sexuality and a complete
disregard for authority. If the defense can get off the
field on third down and if the corners can hold on to the ball, they could give the offense decent field position to put
some points on the board.
