Chapter: Chapter 19 - The Big Night
Characters: Chloe De Sade, Sabrina Mancini
Silly De Sade. She knows better than to turn her back on Sabrina. And she knows better than to try and use the ‘Nazi’ comparison as well. Maybe a split-legged moonsault will put her out of her misery? It might start to make up for the bad karma of abusing refs!
Voting Incentive!
No sneak preview, but you might be interested in a couple of commissions I did? Namely one of a Death Valley Driver!
Thats the French for you….poor De Sade.
Indeed. How typical of the French. Whining and accusing and excuse-making instead of fighting.
And now for the French Battle Cry: Retreat!
…and Chloe misses her Intelligence roll AND her Wisdom roll – AGAIN.
She fumbled the crap out of her Charisma roll, obviously.
Love the D&D references, fellow geeks reading the strip
No I think Chloe knows here audience, they are French and are not use to winning.
After the night I’ve had I’m going to revel in a bad guy getting what they deserve. I hope first it gets better, if not. I hope Friday Sabrina connects and well Chloe is proven to be the weakling no talent hack she’s shown. Win ULTRA GIRL! Oh and her eye looks fine. Just looking for a sad way out. A real break would result in some raccoon eyes. Unless she had an underlying blood clot. Yet there would still be swelling. I had that happen, with a broken nose. The voting incentive is beautiful. The artwork has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. Loved it from the start. Love the story. I need to go back to writing. It always helped keep a sane mind.
If you start writing you can write about me but make sure I look good in the story.
Oh, that’s priceless. So very, VERY sweet. I said months ago that I bet Chloe lost support of the fans and Sabrina won them over, but I didn’t imagine Chloe would go to quite this extreme to alienate her fans. How awful can one person be? Slapping the ref for following the rules… wow.
I’m proud of these fictional French folk! They had been supporting Chloe because she was the hometown favorite, but when she took them for granted, they abandoned her!
I can’t blame Chloe for slapping the ref. Did you see her eye? The ref should have realized that Sabrina had gotten out of control and now it was life threatening! Look a the Chloe’s picture, her eye liner has been smugged.
hmmm the move she was practicing with Marina during the flash back, I wonder if those pointers will pay off. De Sade, never take your eye off your opponent, this is beyond a rookie mistake. I never seen De Sade like this and Kat and Jen are taking their sweet time, I wonder if that is “accidental”
Well since Chloe’s partners can’t get in the ring there is no hurry for them.
traitors are traitors…
I’m one of Chloe De Sade fan… I cheer for Chloe..
why they cheer Sabrina?.. simple coz they’re uneducated peon/ peasants/ogre.. while the royal, marquis, aristocrats. and their knights cheer Chloe..
it’s politics.. even in Rival ANgels..
as Sabrina is just a guinea pig..
and Zack must take that slap as a gift..
It’s a honor to get slap by Chloe De Sade..
LET’S GO CHLOE!!
LET’S GO CHLOE!!
LET’S GO CHLOE!!
Let them eat Cake!
Only two noble and consider as Chloe’s knights..
me (M.G.C.)
BBD
all are peasants.. Peon..
When the masses refuse to follow the aristocracy, the old regime is toppled and a new one installed. Without peons, can a monarch be said to rule at all?
Sabrina is overthrowing Chloe. If Ultragirl is in need of knights, she has my sword!
En Garde!!
peasant!!
I’ll slay the dragon… in Chloe De Sade’s name…!!
And my axe! Wait, I don’t have an axe. ::checks closet:: No bow, no vuvuzela… Ahh! She has my cake knife!
The sword of the Ronin is also on the side of Sabrina. Defeat to the dishonorable.
The Ronin, the Ogre, and the Dragon stand as one. Let the unrighteous know fear, and the worthy know justice and baked goods!
“The Ronin, the Ogre, and the Dragon stand as one.” What a great comic this would make!
In days of old when knights were bold…hmm who needs old knights?
And I can see why DragonManRen would offer Sabrina his sword.
And MY axe, since Cookie Ogre doesn’t have one. Cake knives work, too, though.
If there was anybody who could’ve been a water carrier for the Vichy French, it would be Chloe.
Good hydration is important with all this hot weather.
Perhaps I’m just sick of the faces I’ve seen in wrestling lately that’s been forced down my throat and there’s nothing appeasing about them and the Ultra- namesake is pissing me off thanks to it, but I’m still rooting for Chloe De Sade. Though in my opinion either her acting this way is a strategy or it just seems off that she should turn like this so quickly.
It almost seems like she’s having a nervous breakdown in the middle of the match. Why not target parts of Sabrina that might have been tender after her first match? Chloe seems smarter/slier than that.
You must not watch much pro-wrestling on the main channels. Everyone there seems to get a case of the stupids every now and then.
Chloe De Sade has the dumb. Always did. And even if she didn’t, do you really think she’d be making rational decisions if she were having a nervous breakdown? I submit that she would not.
Yes, she has the numbers game versus smaller groups. Yes, she does what she needs to to win. Yes, she has the ferocity to prove she’s got the skills to pay the bills. But she’s overlooked a few factors that will prove to be her downfall, whether she wins this match by fair means or foul or not.
First, and perhaps most importantly, she pissed off Gabrielle by threatening the career of her star rookie twice in a very big way in less than three months. Even you know in your heart of hearts that nobody threatens a show like that and gets away with it scott free.
Second, she’s become too reliant on her backup to get the job done on her own unless it’s a match like this. It’s not that she’s not trying anymore, she’s just too used to getting an easy win that she pretty much can’t do it any more.
Third, tying directly into point number two, even in this kind of match, she’s apparently forgotten the cardinal rule of a match with these kinds of stipulations that whatever she can do to Sabrina, Sabrina can do to her and there will be no stopping any of it until one or the other says they quit. So even if Sabrina does break her orbital bone, Chloe’s just going to have to suffer and deal with it.
And last, but no less important, she’s more than likely forgotten what it means to actually work to make your fans want to support you. If she’s not acting here, it’s as plain as her lack of broken bones so far that she was taking them for granted until just now, and now she’s paying for it by taking her eyes off her opponent and getting jacked for it.
So, yes, you keep supporting Chloe De Sade. You and the Initials of Doom both. In the meantime, I think Chloe’s just going to keep making more and more mistakes, until suddenly, she snaps on Katherine and Jennifer and they abandon her, too, if they haven’t already for some unshown reason, and winds up unconscious and out of a job before she even wakes up.
Chloe seems smarter than that? I’m not sure where you’ve gotten that impression, because my impression of her is that she’s pretty much been a rabid dog from day one. She’s vicious, yes. She’s willing to break whatever rule she needs to, yes. She’s got backup to play the numbers game, yes. All of these things are true. She is even cunning to a certain degree so long as she’s not backed into a corner, at which point she seems to always lose her cool and revert to rabid dog mode. She pretends to be a mastermind, but she fails to show the qualities of a true mastermind and manipulator time and time again.
There _is_ an intelligent, cunning and lethally devious heel in Rival Angels, but her name is not Chloe De Sade. Her name is Yvonne Carmichael.
You misspelled my name it is Yvonne Camichael it is Snow Kitten
The Nazis, eh? Apparently Godwin’s Law applies to pro wrestling matches as well.
For some reason people like to bring the German’s up when things get weird or goes against them.
Cloe, when you invoke Godwin’s Law you should know that only bad things happen
Oh yus, slapping the ref, that’s always the way to go!
…
Or not.
😛
*Peeks through fingers until Friday!*
sound strategy there Chloe, been trying to take the breath out of Brina with all those body scissors. then stops in the middle of the match to slap the ref, yell at the fans to give Brina the nice little breather so she can come back with another wave of offense. I knew Kat was really the brains of the outfit.
Chloe does remind me a bit of psycho-Victoria in panel 4 though.
i think the knees will be coming up friday to save Chloe though since a clothesline shouldn’t keep her down long enough for the moonsault to hit. of course the way chloe’s been the past couple of updates she’s probably busy arguing with someone at ringside and not noticing Brina’s about to hit a high risk move. ;P
Class act De Sade real class act show the world just how stupid, arogant and mean spirited you are. Comparing Sabrina to the nazis then turning your back on her wow she deserves to lose this match for that alone. Also De Sade is not smart she might have a little bit of cunning but she alienates everyone at this point the way she treats Kat and Jen I wouldn’t be surprised if they showed up but on the opposite side…
Sabrina’s next line – “Belgium says hello.”
Well there’s always the Foreign Legion for her.
Love the comments today. Woot!
What are the odds of Brina planting that? I think it’s a bit risky at this point. And Chloe’s a bit close to the ropes for a pin. Hope we see on Friday1
Not as good as the odds of Chloe getting her knees up in time. And PINS no count, Brenda… Sabrina’s just continuing to wear out Chlo’s gut.
Uhh, Champ? You sure you don’t have a concussion after what Bitsy did to you? Pins don’t count here. It’s an I Quit steel cage match, remember?
Looks like someone is losing their cool….. Boo!, Hiss! Other animal noises here 😉
Geez Chloe… Brina could have knitted a sweater with all the time you been arguing and walking around the ring. May the frog is a little punch drunk…
Doubt Sabby will nail the sault, and she leaves herself wide open for Chloe to come up behind and clamp on her finisher.
Question is, if you slap the ref will he suddenly not be so objective?
Probablity of making the connection is about 45% maybe lower but more over De sade the cheer for her cuz shes not smacking defenceless refs
BBD, she brought it on herself. 😛
LOL 2O2BC, not to mention she missed her Charisma roll too, co-signing on what DragonMan said. XD
Vekara, that’s the passion that Sabrina rallies behind and it’s what’s keeping her upright after the beatdown she got against Kat in her earlier match. Don’t believe the ‘orbital bone’ injury. Just De Sade being De Sade. Thanks for the compliment on the art and story! I appreciate it. 🙂 And I highly encourage pursuing interests and hobbies that keep the sanity.
DragonMan, that is Chloe for you. Besides MGC, she’s been able to turn her fans against her. And yeah, let’s give it up for the crowd for recognizing the terrible person that she is.
LOL Snowy! It’s hard to nail down a particular response of yours. They’re all so good!! 😀
Awesome recollection, jabberwocky. I always find putting stuff in like that is rewarding for readers that have been around for the long haul. As for the other Belles, I think we’ll have to visit with them shortly. 😉
LOL @ MGC and DragonMan dueling. MGC, you do Marquise De Sade proud. 🙂
Coel…and that’s probably about it. 😛
SotC, De Sade is a great planner but not so great at improv. The orbital bone bit was planned but not the being upset that her countrymen have rightfully forsaken her. I like to think she’s in the tradition of Ric Flair and the Red Skull.
SteinerB, at the expense of accidentally revealing anything, I have to say that I generally agree with you on your points. *nods*
LOL Chris! Actually, it’s playing more on the fact that France was invaded a couple of times, lastly by the French. Obviously, she’s too young to remember any of that but it’s a sore spot for some.
You said it, Double M.
LOL @ GoldenGirl. I think Brooke is in the back, peeking through her fingers too!
jpiv, that’s De Sade for you. She’s on-game and then…not so much. She’s a passionate sort, that De Sade. It’s a definite risk on Sabrina’s part with the moonsault, but Sabrina never met a risk she didn’t like.
Tiffany, that is an interesting thought that the Belles could show up against De Sade, which is to mean that they wouldn’t be on Sabrina’s side. I mean, with all the bad blood between them, but still…interesting.
Cookie Ogre…THAT is hilarious. LOL
Yeah, Champ, it’s a risky move, but one that Sabrina’s going to take. Rookies, y’know?
Kurt, I think we can run the gamut of animal noises in this one. 😛
Dyna, I don’t think Chloe has cared for what ref’s thought in a few years. But, ironically, this is the match where that could really matter. Your prediction is noted. 😉
Comichero, I know at live events that the ref gets booed during the intros, but I don’t think anyone wants to see a bully pick on anyone.
Too easy. Chloe didn’t get to where she was (and agree to this fight) without having some skills. I’m just waiting for her to show them off.
RPG references, offering fealty, being challenged to a duel… I’ve really nerded up the comments, huh? 😛
Snow Kitten, I think you’re trying to make my offer sound vulgar. I’ll have you know I hardly thought of that interpretation at all when I said it. Ahem.
MGC, the en garde position doesn’t really do it for me, since the sword is merely a badge of office. My weapon of choice is the hammer! Matches my unarmed style. Good information to have, if you intend to go slaying. 😉
As for predictions, I think Chloe is too smoked by the match and too rattled by the change in the crowd’s allegiance to counter or evade here. Sabrina’s got the match’s momentum, and Chloe’s having a nervous breakdown. The timing’s not right for Sabrina to meet disaster here.
Don’t worry, bro. If you hadn’t, I would have. But I don’t really like bludgeoning weapons, unless they’re like spiked maces or something and can do piercing damage, as well. Beating deaths are… so barbaric. Unless against the undead, then it overcomes their Damage Resistance.
Bludgeoning weapons cause ugly damage, yeah, but it’s the best for being effective against armored and unarmored opponents alike. Trying to take on an armored man using a sword is a long, tiring endeavor, and you’re limited to a small number of effective strikes. Using a hammer, you hardly have to adjust for armor.
I don’t believe in having a huge, varied, complicated list of situational responses. Use a few things that are simple, direct, and universally applicable, and you’re golden.
Actually, Dragon.. Mo Chen is going opposite way. I no think Chloe will win, but I think we about to see a desperate, ugly side to her usual demure, coy smugness. Once defeat looks close, she will pull out the stops and Sabrina betta’ not get to comfy.
Oh, definitely, Chloe is going to go berserk when she gets back up. But having your butt kicked, trying to appeal to the ref, attacking the ref, getting rejected by the crowd, having your brain start leaking out your ears, and then getting smashed by a lariat is a pretty harsh sequence of events. Sabrina wasted no time capitalizing on it. I think Sabrina will land this one. Won’t be the end of the match, though. Chloe won’t give up now. She’s got something to prove.
I thought so Albone De Sade has given them no reason for loyalty. I can easily see them showing up simply to wash their hands of the French Tramp. We’ve had nuggets that Kat’s supposed to be the smart one would be intersting if she threw de sade off then became more effective.
Side note Hope Brina lands the move would be epically AWSOME and De sade does look a little stunned down there so she might pull it off.
Ah, the telling moments for a villian/heel. After all that’s happened in the match so far, she’s STILL taking Sabrina lightly. Not to mention, she’s showing frustration by smacking the ref when all he did was tell her the truth, only way the match ends is when one of them says “I quit”. Seems that she just can’t stand the fact that this match isn’t going to be a squash.
Smacking the ref seems like a good way to ensure he looks the other way when Sabrina gives you a giant wedgie and a boot to the face, Chloe. I’m just sayin’ is all.
great overhead view
Pretty much said all I intended to by responding to everybody else. Yeah.
Do I recognize Starship Pain over there? Morrison ftw
I agree, Morrison FTW, but that’s not Starship Pain. That’s just a Splitlegged Moonsault a la Rob Van Dam. Throw in a full horrizontal twist to the move and it would be Starship Pain
starship pain? I’m confused. All I know is how much lower can De Sade sink? Comparing someone like Brina to Hitler…
