Chapter: Chapter 20 - Happily Wedded Bliss
Characters: Angel Soprano, April Black, Brooke Lennox, Jeff Krew, Krystin Moline, Sabrina Mancini, Sara Valentine, Sun Wong, Xtina Carpenter
Would this be a double team or triple team attack on Xtina? Sabrina’s not getting in, but if looks could kill…
Looks like Krystin and Sun could be a formidable team. And where’s Brooke? Maybe she took the high road and didn’t attend the wedding/wedding reception?
Voting Incentive!
Hmm, the girls seem upset about something. What could it be? Give a vote to see what’s coming up on Monday!
Oh, this promises to be amazingly awful, in an entertaining way…
I can’t believe Sabrina and friends are being so Catty.
Yeah, kind of a weak episode. There are more interesting things to talk about but then again those girls aren’t as interesting as the rest of the roster.
Well the marriage has lasted till the reception, so I am out of the pool on that one lol.
I hope the groom is back stage some where having one last fling.
So how long is this after the PPV? And where can Mo Chen get body make up that covers up bruises so well?
Four days….
I’ve got a pool going on how long before the catfight starts. Any takers?
They must be puttin’ this on the company dime. If I was Madison, I wouldn’t all these crazy women at my wedding! The bouquet toss alone is gonna’ be a brawl!
I have no plans to start a fight at a wedding….however I might lick all the frost off the cake during ceremony.
Gah!
Wedding!
What am I going to wear!?!
I have nothing to wear!!
*SHAKES YOU!!*
How about a golden yellow dress…
Eh. Americans just don’t know which letters are supposed to be aspirated… 😀
Aye mate!
Brooke? High Road? Does she even know what that is?
I am pleased to see Krystin has thawed some of her Lone Wolf Ice Queen Bitch-ness to bond with Sun and Sabrina. So…how soon will Brooke be out of the picture? Cuz she’s another Chloe train wreck building up. And at least Chloe was smarter with her’s…..
I know Chloe and let me tell you Brooke is no Chloe.
Kudos to Rampage wearing her mask. Keep kayfabe alive!
Wonder what she is hiding? Did she break out again?
Chloe smart? blinks ummmm right.
Look how far Chloe got….the problem was the foundation was weak and it finally crumbled.
So they busted Chloe on not passing the drug test, can’t wait to find out about Jen. What would be funny, Brooke is the maid of honor. Keep your friends close, your enemies Closer. I’ll also say I do enjoy her color scheme. I’m a fan of green. As for Rampage, way to keep up the character. The best thing about weddings, the open bar. I wonder if they carry any Hendrick’s Gin.
It’s so cute when Americans get jealous of Canadians!
😛 Just because we Canadians enunciate our words, still doesn’t give Xtina the right to wear bad shoes to a wedding gathering… tsk, tsk…
So, I see lots of Tables and guests. But, no Announcers, or a ring… I guess a Dance floor will have to do.
Chloe was using banned substances? The shock and horror! Well, that is to be expected in high caliber sports.
What? Wedding? But Michael got found out! How was there not a separation?
Suspended indefinitely without pay? Isn’t that called ‘getting fired’? Kudos to Rampage for bold fashion choices! As the Dread Pirate Roberts said, “It’s just that they’re so very comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future.” ::Cookie Ogre is in the kitchen, giving the catering staff a hand::
Sounds like Gabby is keeping Chloe on the hook if she needs her.
I just watched that movie again last weekend – my niece asked me what my favorite movie was, so we watched it together – and ever since, I’ve been running into at least one or two references per day. It’s amazing!
Where’s Brooke, you ask? Why, she’s making out in the bathroom with Michael! I don’t see *him* either. My own personal reaction to “Oh no, my fiance is cheating on me!” would NOT be “ZOMG must marry him FASTER!” But that’s why my name is Amanda, not Madison.
hmm so based on Sara’s wedding gear i guess she’s not completely taking Def tech up on her offer to be less trampy. either that or she didn;t have time to go get something else. OR the upstarts are clearly jealous of her superior outfit. clearly the Upstarts have no clue about the code of the luchador where masks must be worn everywhere at all time 🙂 ((hmm does that make Minxy a luchador?)) and based on the expresiion of the Yorks over there to the left i don;t think the Upstarts have cornered the market on catty comments for this.
i do like how the married Xtina is the focus of the attention of almost all the men there though. and the VI can only be attributed to the arrival of Miss Rival Angels herself in her latest “must show up the bride at the wedding” attire.
and as for what’s that “aboot” maybe all this time Xtina’s been missing one of her wrestling boots so she’s always going around asking if anyone’s seen a boot. <nods wisely>
DragonMan, I’m hoping so…! XD
jabberwocky, there is a pool to see if this lasts until the honeymoon…
Dyna, I’m thinking a couple of weeks. As for them bruises, maybe a long skirt…
Champ, that is just cynical talking. Catfight at a wedding filled with lady wrestlers? lol
Eeep! @ GoldenGirl. Borrow something from Sabrina. Everyone does. XD
Snowy, I think they put security on the cake…could be the tag team champs. lol jk And as for Michael, it does seem he and Brooke are missing.
Quicksilver, I almost added an ‘eh’ at the end of Xtina’s sentence, but I thought that might be overkill. XD
War, it should be known that Krystin’s ice thaw comes by catty comments at others expense, which I think is appropriately hilarious. 😛 Brooke’s train is definitely not on the high road which we might find next week.
Chris, you can bet that Rampage is 100% legit!
Tiffany, ding dong, the witch is dead! (for now)
Vekara, that would be something else if Brooke were the Maid of Honor!! We’re about to find out shortly about that ‘open bar’ from Krystin too. Yep, Chloe was busted for failing her drug test, but nothing yet about her or Kat. Maybe they’ll show up before the end of Season 1?
Stygimoloch, the cutest. lol
LOL, Kurt, when you’re right, you’re right. Xtina DOES command a lot of attention, eh? (<- see what I did there?) XD Oy. Crap, I should’ve used the Voting Inentive to show who’s at the reception because Jeff Krew is one of the guys talking with Xtina. Annoucners, wrestlers and dance floor. Looks like a party to me…!
Wise Mankey, your disbelief is justified and explanations are coming shortly.
LOL Cookie Ogre, great quote from a great movie, especially with one that has Andre in it. Yes, Chloe is not quite the free agent that might suggest. Of course, Chloe could quit and end up somewhere else, assuming someone else would have her.
Amanda, you have a devious mind! Note that I didn’t say you were wrong. O_o All I can say is that if Brooke were to show up, it might be on Monday.
jpiv, you have very good observations skills. XD You can bet that there’s plenty of catty comments going on at this particular event. Maybe some new feuds might get started from this? 😉 I mean, I could see a fatal four way with Xtina, Brooke, Champ and Dyna, and you know the Catgirls will come to that like a moth to the flame. And that is April Black in the lower corner of panel 2… XD
Somebody’s going to slammed through the wedding cake.
BTW, when are going to do a Rival Angels Wiki?
We totally need to! I believe TV tropes has something on there, but no Wiki pages, though there is a passing mention on Wikipedia for Wrestling webcomics.
Hey! I’m looking pretty good here. That’s me there in the bottom right corner in panel one. (okay not really, but it’s an incredible likeness)
Anyways, I’m curious too about exactly where Brooke is. I’m torn between at home crying, in a fight with Maddie, or waiting to jump out of the wedding cake
It’s hilarious that Chloe failed the drug test. Stupid, stupid woman. Didn’t she understand that she was going into a dangerous match, and that if she’s at all injured, she’ll get blood work done, including a drug screen? Or even that she was in a dangerous profession?
The cattiness at an event like this is perfect, too. Of course it gets catty, if you invite a highly physical, competitive, grudge-filled group like the Rival Angels roster to a wedding.
Say, why DID the Rival Angels roster get invited? Weird! Wonder what Gabs offered Maddie to get her to agree to have her wedding be a Rival Angels event. And why did she?!
Xtina drawing all the men in sounds like her, married or not. It sure doesn’t hurt her ability to flirt or show off the goods. Wonder what her husband thinks of all this?
I hope, for Maddie’s sake, that this doesn’t all turn out the same way the last event that had all the girls in dressed did…
Move all the Upstarts except Krystin down one tier, for starters. Why is Sun above Krystin? No.
Sun’s in Damage Inc, the top stable in Rival Angels right now. There are a lot of storyline possibilities with her. Krystin is just now starting to figure out who she is in Rival Angels, and that’s gonna be a long road. Her ability keeps her from being a jabroni. However, her style is too rigid, which means if she wants to be a face, she will have to be carried through matches to make them interesting. Sun doesn’t have that problem because she got that experience out of the way in developmental. They even devoted an entire chapter to Sun’s road to Rival Angels. You did read the archives, right?
Zombie Luna and Lover Lola are ranked higher than the tag team champs after a successful defense, when all we’ve seen from them is a post-match ambush? Huh?
Nope. They handled Ultragirl quite easily before everything went haywire. They may be new, but they’re quite the imposing tag team and from the way they manhandled both Black and Bruised and the Irish Car Bomb Angels, a title change and the long reign that will follow are likely.
What’s Jennifer Needles done beyond get pushed around and contribute an extra pair of boots to a Hell’s Belles collective fight? Nothing. She belongs at the bottom of the roster with Brooke.
Also no. Jen’s got talent. Admit it. Not all meany mean people suck at wrestling.
Amanda Breaker is ranked higher than the people she is a lackey for? How? Why?
For when she realizes that Brooke is merely using her to get to the top, kicks her butt and strikes out on her own.
We haven’t seen much from her, but I’m feeling like Rampage inspires enough fear that she’s probably the Champ’s biggest threat after Yvonne.
She already faced Brenda and lost. Besides. the only reason Brenda has the title in the first place is to try and elevate a few midcarders so they can refill their shallow pool of main attractions. Rampage was in the Second Chance Battle Royal and a 3-way with Veronica Silver and Loretta Diaz, who replaced Jennifer Needles. She’s a midcarder. Plus, there’s this to overcome.
Also, I’m not going by fan fiction, I’m going by the main story. If Dyna Mike Jones wants to prove herself, she needs to get a match on the main story. Right now, she looks like a rookie to me.
Okay, I see what’s wrong. We’re using totally different standards to rank people here. I use the fact that, in the comic, wrestling is real, and people succeed on their own merits one way or the other, and you’re using… drugs of some kind? I dunno.
Krystin is a better wrestler than Sun right now. Sun’s got the storyline with more potential, but Krystin has better fights. Also, “rigid”? Huh? She’s a technical wrestler who can also brawl if need be. She’s plenty flexible. Yes, Sun is a more developed character, but she hasn’t shown the same level of ability Krystin has.
Towers of Terror: yeah, I forgot about the Halloween match, where they showed basic heel tag team tactics and Sabrina and Brooke showed that they did not know how to be a tag team or deal with one. Nothing special there. The ambush really doesn’t mean anything either. You attack when people are pre-beaten, you pretty much have your way.
Jennifer Needles: what part of that match looks like she’s doing well, to you? All she can do is throw some basic techniques out there, and then distract the ref so her girlfriend can get the job done.
Amanda Breaker: so, wait, you’re giving Sun the nod on story, but Amanda, whose story is “enthusiastic servant of the least influential people she can find,” gets a nod over the people actually driving stories? Wha?
Rampage: that means she’s had a title shot, and she very well could again. Losing to a champion doesn’t mean you’re not on their level. Usually, it means you’re among the best, but on this occasion, someone was better.
Brenda: what lunacy has you convinced that the champion is a midcarder getting an unjust push? We don’t know that, and it goes against all evidence we’ve got.
Mo Chen: why are you even rating people based on two panels in the comic and neither of them wrestling? Categorize them as “unknown”.
Okay, I see what’s wrong. We’re using totally different standards to rank people here. I use the fact that, in the comic, wrestling is real, and people succeed on their own merits one way or the other, and you’re using… drugs of some kind? I dunno.
You use MMA standards, I use pro wrestling standards. You value wrestling ability above all else and if anything runs counter to that, you are confused by it. There can be other reasons certain wrestlers are at a higher tier than others. Maybe I should have added that those rankings are not set in stone.
Yes, Krystin is a better wrestler. In fact, I said before she was the best wrestler of the Upstarts. Unfortunately, Krystin is locked into wrestling like a heel when she is supposed to be a face. That makes it obvious she has a lot to learn about the entertainment side of pro wrestling. What’s the point of being the greatest wrestler in the world when you can’t attract anybody to your matches? It’s how the other Upstarts compensate for not being as skilled as Krystin and so far, it’s worked for them. At least then Gabrielle would remember what she said to Krystin. Unfortunately, the boss not remembering anything she said to you is a precursor to “creative has nothing for you right now”. Then you’re one step away from “We wish Krystin Moline well in her future endeavors.”
That was their way of saying “We’re next in line for your titles.” I’m sure the match will be more competitive than their ambush, but don’t be surprised if they win the titles. They don’t look to be your normal hosses.
Jennifer Needles: what part of that match looks like she’s doing well, to you? All she can do is throw some basic techniques out there, and then distract the ref so her girlfriend can get the job done.
In other words, being a heel.
Amanda Breaker: so, wait, you’re giving Sun the nod on story, but Amanda, whose story is “enthusiastic servant of the least influential people she can find,” gets a nod over the people actually driving stories? Wha?
I’ve accepted that because Sun is good friends with Sabrina, she won’t be far behind in the pecking order. With Amanda Breaker, that judgement is based on what would happen if she was out on her own. Maybe she’s already had her run in Rival Angels and is now trying to give back. If that’s the case, then Monica Rumble is a bigger laughingstock than I thought.
Rampage: that means she’s had a title shot, and she very well could again. Losing to a champion doesn’t mean you’re not on their level. Usually, it means you’re among the best, but on this occasion, someone was better.
If Rival Angels had a healthy rotation of main eventers and upper midcarders, then that would be true. But that’s not the case when your latest title defense is against a generic gimmick that obviously came from the mind of David Mclaine. When the pot of credible challengers runs dry after only four opponents, there’s a problem. Doesn’t mean that Rampage couldn’t shake things up in the future, but as of now, that’s not how she’s being portrayed. Getting an award for being a locker room cancer doesn’t help, either.
Brenda: what lunacy has you convinced that the champion is a midcarder getting an unjust push? We don’t know that, and it goes against all evidence we’ve got.
What evidence? She’s the champion. That’s all we’ve got so far. The champion always gets special perks during their reign. They’re always the focus of the show. And yet, the world championship match had to be pushed back for a white-hot feud that wasn’t even for a title/mask/career. It makes me question Brenda’s place on the roster if she can’t get that kind of interest for her match even with the title on the line, though Black Widow deserves some of the blame for that. Without the title, besides wrestling ability (I know you were going to say that), what else is there to Brenda Rua? I have red hair, you must obey? I’m drawing a blank.
Mo Chen: why are you even rating people based on two panels in the comic and neither of them wrestling? Categorize them as “unknown”.
Give it time.
I use real-competitive-sports standards because, in this comic, wrestling is a real competitive sport. That throws your entire rating scheme out of whack.
Gabrielle couldn’t remember threatening Krystin’s job. Michael couldn’t believe Krystin thought her job was on the line. If Gabs forgot about an offered reward, you might have a point. Forgetting about telling Krystin that she’s on thin ice means Krystin was never on thin ice.
Yes, the Towers of Terror are probably next in line to challenge for the title, but Black and Blue are the champs. I am not seeing the champs being rated below the Towers of Terror being valid at all. If the Towers of Terror win, they can move up to the level of Black and Blue, but it makes no sense to rate a tag team a tier above the tag team champions. It’s equal or beneath.
Yes, Jennifer Needles is a heel. A heel who has no wrestling ability and whose ability to both get crowd attention and to fight is based on the fact that she’s with Kat Smith. She has no value of her own.
With the Amanda Breaker discussion, you admit you were lying about not basing ratings on fanfiction. Your own imagining of what they might eventually do or have done in the past is distorting your ratings.
The ‘I Quit’ cage match was Chloe’s last match with the organization before she was ‘suspended indefinitely without pay.’ We knew that before the match. That strikes me as a pretty big deal, possibly worth sharing top billing with a title match. As for Brenda, a champion needs only two things: wrestling ability, and popularity with the fans. Brenda’s got those. So what, exactly, is your problem?
Yes. Give it time. Before you make guesses based on literally no information.
Ooh, weddings! I love weddings *sniff* even doomed ones. And what’s with the hatin’ on all the catty comments? I thought that was pretty much par for the course when a bunch o’ BFF’s get together.
Hmm… Booze and wrestlers. Bad combo.
I don’t think JSN, our Michael Cole, is saying I’M a mid-carder. That’s just so wroong on so many levels. But it’s ambiguous because it’s heavily weighted with rhetoric and embedded assumptions. The reason I have the title is because I beat the prior champ. Q.E.D. The reason I wa “giving a shot” at it has many contributing factors – one of which is that I can improve the pool.
<. Besides. the only reason Brenda has the title in the first place is to try and elevate a few midcarders so they can refill their shallow pool of main attractions>
JSN what the heck are you talking about Needles has shown no talent what so ever, she’s useless even more so than Brooke, at least Brooke on a couple of occasions has shown that she does have some power, now if she’d concentrate on wrestling rather than her looks.. As to Brenda she is an amazing wrestler we just saw a match with her and she has talent she’s top tier. Your ranking system is scewed simply because you like heels. I’d put Krystin and Sun in same place honestly. Sun has a great arial game as well as some very solid moves. Krystin is more of a traditional ground wrestler both tactics have their place, and both have shown they can take some pain and keep fighting.
Towers of Terror we haven’t seen enough from yet along with a lot of other wrestlers. Towers of terror seem to be basic heels with few original moves.
Lol makin fun of canadian’s gotta love them they are good sports about that aboot stuff
It’s laborious to find knowledgeable people on this topic, however you sound like you realize what you’re speaking about! Thanks
