Sabrina’s in a rough spot. KO’d in the ropes and now pinned! Can she kick out? Man, what a cliffhanger to put on a Friday…

I bet you want to see a sneak peek of Monday’s update. If so, click to see what’s coming up. 😉
Please fire that ref.
The ref’s in a tight spot without much precedence for this sort of thing. !!
I have to agree with Mo here… this is a case where Cocoa is clearly abusing the intent of the rules, and in cases like that I don’t think a ref should rule in favor of ‘legal unless specifically forbidden’. Not to mention, I doubt that Sabrina would be knocked out so quickly that the ref didn’t have time for a 5-count? I don’t think any sleeper is THAT effective. Basically, what we have here is an indecisive ref which is the LAST thing a ref needs to be. So, yeah. Gotta say that a wishy-washy ref is a bad one.
Actually Adon, an actual blood choke, like the sleeper, applied correctly can totally knock you out in under 10 seconds.
Nooooo!
You can not put this as the Friday update! Is not fair!
*fold arms and pout*
Kick out ‘Brina! You can do it girl!!
Heh, honestly, it’s just how the updates came out. I totally didn’t mean for this to be on a Friday. XD Your pout is adorable.
lolz..
Mo Chen and Samantha Sinclair really cross their finger for Sabrina to kick..
here’s my thought..
Sabrina has been more than this match, and Cocoa ain’t no Chloe De Sade.. so I know it’s a kick out.. I mean Sabrina have been in worse situation than this.. I mean like belly to back suplex off the top turnbuckle (against Katherine Smith), ALMOST LOST TO ‘WHITE QUEEN’ CHLOE DE SADE… I should I say… REALLY LOSS TO CHLOE DE SADE..
if Sabrina lose here, which I don’t know why? could be Sabrina is downgraded, by Albone?
I think Dyna and Golden Girl are friendly with Brina backstage, so there’s definite support there. I will say that Sabrina has been in some really tough spots before. !!
Ehh. You hardly ever get the pin on first attempt. Especially if she’s had a few seconds to recover from the sleeper while you drag her to the center of the ring. I can hang on this cliff all weekend. I brought my climbing gear.
W00t to the climbing gear! I bet some others might ask for your help.
I remember a pre WWF fed that had this bruiser for a referee. Apparently some of the younger wrestlers were getting away with murder and the fed’s owner had had enough. The referee used to throw guys out of the ring with one hand, and then count them out.
I don’t recall that at all, but it sounds pretty cool. XD
It’s okay, ref. Everybody has a rough first day on the job. You can feel overwhelmed and confused, not able to make judgment calls when you really need to… it’s tough. We understand.
That said, STOP BEING STUPID. Disqualify Cocoa, or pray that Sabrina kicks out so that your incompetence doesn’t ruin the match completely.
Come on, Sabrina! Kick out!
LOL ‘first day on the job…’ serious, potential spit-take there.
They aren’t big on five counts in traditional japanese wrestling. And of all my years watching wrestling (its been a LONG time) I have never actually seen someone sleeper hold someone over the ropes like that.
So if I’ve never seen it…I’m pretty sure the referee hasn’t either. He’s confused, it happens. And he made a judgment call which I fully approve of. lol
If I was Cocoa though I would have dragged her back into the center of the ring and locked on another submission, not a pin…but hey, what can you do. Hoping for a Cocoa celebration on Monday! 😀
I don’t think I’ve ever seen it either any of the regular feds so this judgement call from the ref doesn’t seem out of character, despite whether or not it’s the right call.
Cocoa’s smart enough to know about Sabrina’s toughness and probably doesn’t want to give her any more precious seconds to recover.
Well, unless she regains consciousness quickly enough, this match maybe over for Ultragirl. 🙁
It just might be!
Here we go Cocoa, here we go!
*clap*clap*
kinda of a lack luster way to end it but somtimes things happen like this
Cocoa would rather have a boring win, than an exciting loss.
i’m with RAWF, while Cocoa shows some intelligence by loopholing around the ref by dragging Brina into the ring for a pin so the ref has to make a count (and getting her far enough away so brina can;t just drape a foot over the ropes- so she’s 2/3 right), the best thing would have been to lock the submission right back on again. brina’s already out, whatever recovery she had during the dragging is neutralized by the re-application of the submission and the ref’s forced to check a KO’d brina.
now Brina’s in a position to kickout (i can never tell who’s who in the VI w/o color when it’s long two tone’d haired people) which wrestlers can subconsiously do even when KOd when they hear the mat being hit twice. if that’s Brina in the VI than my theory is wrong and she comes to shocked by the ref’s filling her in that she’s lost. or if that’s Cocoa then she’s in shock that brina kicked out.
i can almost hear Cocoa humming a little tune in panels 4 and 5 while she’s dragging brina in position to make the pinning attempt. oh and as a flag bearer for team Cocoa i must protest the slowness of Skippy’s count (if brina kicks out of course). clearly skippy has it in for Cocoa for her superior knowledge of the rules.
mmmm….I kind of don’t understand the logic behind locking in a submission move if the opponent is already KO’d. I mean, how can they tap? Unless you’re a psychopath (cough*hellsbelles*cough), anyways. Cocoa doesn’t want to maim Sabrina, she just wants to win. Of course, if Sabrina is playing possum….
Yes, that is the ref and Cocoa being very shocked, and maybe a little dismayed…
Basically what I meant by it. Is if you have your opponent on the ropes (no pun intended lol) and you are looking to finish them off as a submission expert I lock on a submission on the exhausted opponent. If they really are knocked out already, the ref calls the match by lifting the hand up and dropping it three times.
If they are playing possum, it gives them that last move they needed to secure the victory. That’s why I suggested to go for submission instead of a pinfall. No intentions on maiming or injury or anything like that, just a sound strategy to make sure they would secure the win. 🙂
yeah what RAWF said- ref wouldn;t check Sabrina the first time because they were in the ropes. move Brina to the middle of the ring, reapply the submission and now the ref can check her via the arm lift and drop three times method. generally faces will let the arm drop half way the third time, extend a finger (not that one) and wave it in a “nuh-uh” gesture or make a fist and wait for the rythmnic clapping of the fans to rally him/her then proceed to get out of the hold that suddenly no longer has any effect on the face.
I actually feel how coco is trying to end this belittles her IQ and semi underminds Sabrina’s fortitude. This straight pin is cocky and heelish, if sabrina DOES kick out ( I don’t think she should it would be amazing feud fule) she JUST ecaped a cocky pin. Coco has shown us her kller edge and her submission abilities, shunning your wheel house for flashy usually = loss lol. Plus if sabrina had escaped another submission from that state win lose or draw shed earn amazing respect from a hard to win over crowd.
Cocoa has seen what happens to Sabrina’s opponents when they let her stick around too long, so to speak. Cocoa also knows she doesn’t get paid by the hour. Maybe it’ll clear things up if I tell you that Cocoa isn’t going for a flashy pin, in the last panel, she’s trying with all of her might/weight to make sure Sabrina can’t kick out. Of course, WILL Sabrina kick out…
Ref’s got a point. If it’s in the ropes, it can’t be counted. As for Sabrina, I think this is going to be a damn good test of her resiliancy. Should she kick out here, I think Cocoa’s brain’s going to short-circuit a bit lol
Sabrina’s resiliency has frustrated plenty of opponents before, and Cocoa won’t be any different, I think.
Well, it’s been a great and sexy match, and I don’t at all mind seeing Sabrina take the pain. We’ll see what’s coming next!
Glad you are enjoying the match. 🙂

Look Sabrina and Katherine Smith
XD You are just waiting for a Sabrina-Kat team up, eh? XD
yes..
Katherine Smith going to be babyface,
Powergirl/ Ultragirl
Ok Cocoa must be taking pages from Hells Bells book o’sludge wrestling. So, cheap and evil!
Can’t say I was entertained by this match, Boney, even if it’s not over yet. I dunno, both Cocoa and Sabrina gave it their all and there was some good back and forth, but this match just didn’t do it for me. Maybe the crowd sees something I didn’t, or maybe it’s just my own propensity for beatings and there wasn’t a trace of one to be had in this match, either way, I couldn’t get into it. I’m not saying every match should be an all-out brawl, that would get dull quickly, but I think by now it’s obvious how I feel about technical wrestling and people acting smarter than they really are trying to bed rules they know they’re actually breaking. Here’s a hint if it’s not: Technical wrestling bores me after too long and I hate idiots trying to hide the fact.
Hope she kick out before it count to 3, by looking at voting button it look like I could fear that she may lost.I be nerves to check on Monday. Don’t blame Sabrina when she lost.
