I hope its not bad form for saying so, but I like how this page came out, especially that third panel. That may as well as be the quintessential Sabrina pose. Banged up, fired up and keeping the fans riled up. XD
If you don’t remember from last page, Sabrina climbed to the top turnbuckle facing away from Loretta, jumped off, did a backflip and landed on Loretta. Crazy move, if you ask me. 😛 As is the case in high risk moves like an outside-of-ring-moonsault, Sabrina banged up your left elbow and instead of showing discomfort, she moved to playing to the crowd as she recouped her elbow.
After all, Loretta got flattened, right? In any case, Sabrina’s getting the crowd worked up and even got Jeff to change his tune about her, even if it might only be temporary.
One more time, that sick moonsault…
Actually, I think that little chat Sabrina is holding with the commentators during the match isn’t half as insane as it may appear.
Loretta is flattened for the moment. And all those high-flying moves Sabrina has shown in rapid succession must have taken their toll on her power reserves as well as Loretta’s, just not quite as much. And she did hit her elbow rather unpleasantly in that last drop.
So, what else is she to do than take a little time-out? Sit herself down, get a little rest.
And she’s covering that resting period with a display of bravado.
There are just two things she needs top keep in mind right now:
1) She needs to keep enough of her attention trained on Loretta to notice when she starts stirring again.
2) She needs to get back into he ring before she is counted out.
Hmmm.. “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini buying off, sometime to rest her left elbow.. 3rd panel.. Sabrina’s elbow is sore.. kinda like Sara Valentine’s knee on episode 93.. stars.. and buying off some audience who don’t like her. like Jeff..
It’s good camouflage used here by Sabrina.. she don’t like to show that she’s hurt. show no weakiness, great.. as if Sabrina’s not hurt.
if Sabrina showed that her elbow is in pain, Loretta might reliaze it and used it against her.. So good choice for Sabrina.. did it like pro..
I think Sabrina learned about Sun’s mistake.. on Sun’s first match.. Sun holding her right elbow.. maybe Sun kept attacking and the opponent noticed that her elbow is hurt and dominate her and made Sun tap..
I like first panel.. as if a picture is taken from the audience, curve image..
Why hangout in the anouncer booth, while Sabrina can go in the ring, and wait Loretta.. it the same result she’ll be resting her arm there and she might win. coz the referee gonna count out Loretta.
Applause.. Applause for “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini for that awesome move..
I wonder if “Re Jen” Jennifer Needles and the Hell’s Belle are watching this so they can student from Sabrina’s moves and how to counter?
Just a quick add on.. “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini flies… she really like a superhero… reminds of Kara Zor El “Supergirl”
I think Sabrina is reading that comics and a supergirl fan.. 😀
WOW! Well it looks like Sabrina has this wrapped up after hitting that moonsault/swanton.
Nice page though, i like the layout. And the landing in panel 2 is good 🙂
Although i never saw Sabrina as a showboater and being so casual. Sure she likes the crowd and winning but is this a change in Ultragirl? It reminds me of something like Anakins turn to the darkside (stay with me on this LOL)… in that she is perhaps “over” confident and believing her own hype?
It will take a huge comeback from Loretta now, although with Sabrina’s back turned i still think Loretta should THWAP a chair off Sabrinas head 🙂 Or failing that grabbing a TV cable and choking her with it (in typical heel fashon)
Cant wait to see what happens next update 🙂
Thinking about Loretta.. She’s going to piss as hell. I think she’ll got get a steel chair out of the ring and attack Sabrina from behind again, but Sabrina now knows Loretta sneaky trick. Sabrina gonna give a backkick, like in episode 19. in which the chair hits Loretta. and then cause of a DQ. in which Loretta Diaz won…
or maybe Loretta nailed Sabrina with a steel chair and causing a DQ. in which Sabrina will go to the tournment. and there surely Loretta will continue pounding Sabrina into a bloody pulp, maybe injuring Sabrina.
who got the pain the most.. surely Loretta got it.. a whole body crush on to Loretta and then flatted her to the ground, that’s gotta hurt.. and for Sabrina, the elbow hurt. but with her elbow pads I think it won’t be serious damage..
Sabrina really dissecting Loretta Diaz in this part..
The question are
can Loretta still can recover?
is Loretta done for?
Another thought.. if Sabrina went to the crowd that who don’t like Sabrina and act like that, what she did to Jeff. I think we’ll change our mind and cheer for her.
Thinking about Jeff and Dawn.. is one of the a former wrestler? in WWE one of the commentator are former wrestlers. Jerry “King” Lawler, Tazz, Mick Foley.. so Dawn can be a former Rival Angel wrestler?
JackAce, looks like you have the Ultragirl strategy down. That sums up pretty much what Sabrina was thinking. She could either hold her ouchy arm and shake it off, or show off for the fans a little bit. Good points to bring up about what Sabrina needs to do next. She definitely doesn’t want another countout scenario, even though that did turn out in the end for her.
Matt, glad you enjoyed the page! I think Sabrina would have had this match all wrapped up if she hadn’t hurt her elbow. Of course, it’s hard to say if she’d have Loretta this far down if she hadn’t hit the moonsault. Catch-22. I don’t think I’m ruining anything by saying that Sabrina is not going to the dark side, ala Anakin. Sabrina had her attitude realigned by that talking to by Marina back on page 90, so Sabrina won’t have forgotten it that soon. I don’t think Loretta will want to risk a DQ by using a steel chair, but a cable I could see. Next update is coming quick!!
MGC, so many good observations and comments! Sun did have her arm worked over but good in her first match in Rival Angels so Sabrina could’ve learned a little something from that. The strategy that Sabrina is using right now isn’t bad, she just has to make sure that she keeps an eye on Loretta. Like I wrote before, I don’t think Loretta will risk her chance at the TV tournament with a chair shot, but if she did and Sabrina caught her, it could be bad news for Loretta. We’ll find out next update just how far gone Loretta is.
I can guarantee Jen Needles and the Hell’s Belles are watching this match closely, though most of the tournament participants probably are, if nothing else for curiosity’s sake.
Dawn and Jeff have never wrestled before, but you never know what might happen in the future. 😉
Great depiction of dynamic action as we have come to take as normal around here.
Panel one; Jeff is right: Sabrina is *insane*.
Think about it: Sabrina has launched herself into the air *upside down*, if anything goes wrong she’s going to land on her head!! But she pulls it off.
Panel three… oh yes, this is an iconic depiction. Pain stars and all, Sabrina is Ultragirl.
Panel six… in addition to flirting with Jeff, Sabrina can check her peripheral vision to see if Loretta is moving… neat tactic to check up on her opponent without anyone else realizing what she’s doing. I realized that Jeff is on the right when the viewpoint is facing the ring, Loretta landed to the right of the commentator box, so a glance toward Jeff is a glance toward Loretta… hope that’s not confusing.
Absolute Boffo move Sabrina could do next? Throw Loretta back in the ring and pin her while she’s stunned…. or is there a rule against that?
Throw Loretta back in the ring and pin her while she’s stunned…. or is there a rule against that?
No, that’s the point of professional wresting 😀
However, I don’t believe it’s that easy. Ultragirl’s trip to the commentators’ box did give Loretta time to recover. I don’t believe she’s really so far gone that she wouldn’t notice Sabrina picking her up off the floor and hoisting her back into the ring. By the time Ultragirl could get that pin on, Loretta should have had at least enough rest to be able to break a cover.
After this brief pause, Ultragirl will need at least one more heavy impact move to put Loretta’s lights out again. A DDT out of the ring corner from the second rope might do the trick. (And it’s flashy enough not to appear as an anticlimax after all those high-flying moves Ultragirl has shown so far.) After that Loretta should be out of action long enough for Sabrina to pull off an Ultrasplash to end the match.
clearly Sabrina targeted Loretta’s body area. episodes 100,102 and 103. it’s clear that Sabrina target those are so, when Sabrina it the “Ultrasplash” Loretta won’t kickout.. she’d might learn it from the fatal four, (When Brooke targeted her head area and almost got Sabrina injuried).. concentrate on one target area. here Sabrina target the chest and body area.. the head target are just to stun Loretta then.. Sabrina attack the body again.. it’s more likely playing “Rumble Roses” 😀
I can only say, Sabrina will do the splitted leg moonsault on Loretta. then the “Ultrasplash” for the final touch.. usually wrestlers do their 3 powerful moves then the ulitimate finish.. like Jeff Hardy used the “whispering the wind, twist of Fate,” then ultimate finish the “swanton bomb”
hmm think about it, Sun didn’t used this pattern.. 3 powerful moves then the finisher? hmmm.. I might think that Sun will used the backstabber on Sara, but it didn’t happen.. hmmm?
currently WWE referee call the bell for not able to continue the match.. Like Jericho did to Shawn Michaels.. could it be that the Rival Angels referee, just ring the bel for Loretta not able to continue this match.. I just wonder?… hmmm..
Just one little thing no one else has mentoned that I noticed, Panel 2. If Loretta is aware at all, she’s in the perfect position to notice the bad landing and if she gets up faster than Sabrina expects, then I can see an -easy- arm drag from that announcer table to the floor. Hurt the arm more and her back with that.
If a few high risk moves would put Loretta away, she wouldn’t be 3 and 0 against Ultragirl. Loretta is getting up. It’s just a question of how soon. I think it’s coming.
Good catch, Roller Derby Fan! Sabrina can see what Loretta is up to with her casual glance towards Jeff. Its possible that Sabrina could get overtaken with a sudden burst of speed from Loretta, and we don’t have to wait too much longer for the update. 😛 The plan for Sabrina is to get Loretta back in the ring and win this match, so we’ll see how that goes. Thanks for the kind words and the very cool observations!
JackAce, I think Sabrina is thinking along those lines, a hard hitting move or two (or three!) and then maybe into her final move set to put Loretta away and get into the TV tournament. I think rolling Loretta into the ring and pinning her wouldn’t work and really, it would be anticlimatic. Tornado DDT would be pretty cool right about now….
Good observation MGC, about Sabrina targeting Loretta’s torso, which really isn’t easy to do in execution because its normally one of the stronger body parts, but I think Sabrina’s done a good job of it. Chops, dropkicks and moonsaults are going to take its toll. And good comparison with Jeff Hardy, Sabrina’s definitely got her coup de grace moves and is looking to hit them. Sun didn’t use the Backstabber on Sara because frankly, she didn’t need to. Sun’s got her ‘big’ moves, and we’ll see them in the future. It’s certainly possible that the ref could stop this match, but I think we’d have to see some more damage, or a loss of blood for the ref to make that call.
Very true Salazen, Loretta IS in a position to know if Sabrina has hurt her elbow, assuming she had her wits after that moonsault. Loretta is the type of wrestler that if she finds a weak spot, she’ll exploit it. And good point about Loretta and her toughness, she is 3-0 for a reason.
M.G.C., you almost wrote a haiku there. Here’s how I’d make it one:
So, the questions are:
Can Loretta recover?
Or, is she done for?
Sorry, I write haiku as a hobby and I couldn’t resist. 😀

A. Mouse, I missed you, though I’m sure it wasn’t really that long. 🙂 Nice haiku by the way, you don’t really see them enough. 😉
