Chapter 6-Page-20-The Right Choice

Sun’s opinion on this is clear. What’s yours? What should Sabrina do?
(btw, the BRA division has no champions)
Voting Incentive!
What are the odds that Sun is saying, ‘OK?’ Vote to see what’s coming up on Wednesday!
You tell her Sun. Though Sabrina will have to wait behind Kitten for her turn with Atlas.
waaaa!!
Mo Chen don’t support Sabrina anymore…
I think Atlas would make time for Sabrina.
No way, Bra is like the Divas of the WWE, while RA is a televised world wide Shimmer, or The WWE but with the Divas in charge instead of the superstars. lol If Sabrina goes to BRA, she will be in the shadows of her new boy toy like Natalya is with Khali right now.
Punches, Sun doesn’t pull them.
Well it is confusing. If Sabrina has been banished to this place why would Sun get angry if she is given a chance to get a contract?
I feel that it is, in Sun’s mind, like Sabrina is selling out so to speak. She’s compromising her well-earned reputation as a crowd-pleasing ass-kicker. On top of that, the way she talks about Cocoa, even after knowing the woman is duplicitous, is making Sun feel like she’s being replaced. Sun’s a little wiser to the business. She knows the score. This is her tough love method of trying to get Sabrina to see the light.
My guess is that a big part of it is Sun knowing that she is going to have to go back to the States and she wants Sabrina to go with her, instead of staying in Japan indefinitely.
Doesn’t change the fact that Sun’s being a jackass.
To say that Sun is mixing her own personal feelings in this would be accurate but she really feels that BRA isn’t the best place for Sabrina.
What!? BRA is not a good fit for Sabrina? BRA is filled with boobs???
Far as I recall, Sabrina wasn’t banished forever, she’s on more of a suspension from Rival Angels until things cool off and she returns there. She’s basically doing an extended “tour” of Japan right now (albeit with one company) rather than actually being signed to them. Basically think of it like the time Bryan Danielson was “fired” from WWE for choking that dude with a tie and he went and toured the indies for the summer, then was brought back to the WWE. Sabrina signing with BRA would essentially be like if Bryan taking an offer from TNA part way through his time away from WWE.
This is an excellent encapsulation of the situation. It’s up to Sabrina what she does next.
damn Sun doesn’t pull away from being a real bitch doesn’t she? you would think she would be happy for her best friend but nope Sun does what she does best. have a whiny little shit fit
Now if Sun had come here and said I’m here to bring you home Sabrina wouldn’t have a reason to consider a Bra contract.
True dat. As it stands go back to Rival Angels or get a championship match sooner in BRA. What will she choose?
Wow, Sun is truly expressing her opinion on this. ๐
The sad thing is that I agree with Sun on this as there is no easy way to a championship than what BRA is showing Sabrina. ๐
I mean BRA’s way of life just takes the fun out of wrestling. ๐
And what is wrong with fun wrestling?
I read that as BRA isn’t fun wrestling, so I suppose the question would be ‘what is wrong with serious wrestling?’
Wow. Too far, Sun. Too far. Much more of this shit and I’ll have to cut up my “Sun Wong Mark” card.
Prepare for a rant, my friends.
You know something? Sun really doesn’t make any good points, because she’s describing BRA as something it’s not. We have seen enough matches by now to know that catfights with Neko are the exception rather than the rule; there is plenty of legitimate competition in the unfortunately-named BRA.
Does Sun really think that everybody in that division sucks? Well of course she assumes that Cocoa sucks–because she is making the insanely stupid mistake of underestimating one of the few people who has beaten Sabrina since Sabrina left developmental. Oh yeah, and isn’t Sabrina the one person who has beaten Sun?
You know, Wong, if I were you I would take “Brazilian Barbie” a hell of a lot more seriously than you are. But no, how silly of me, she has a side gig as a model so of course it logically follows that she has zero in-ring talent. ๐
What about the rest of the roster, huh? According to Sun, Kaci Alexander sucks. Shamrox sucks. Black Widow sucks*. Callista Quinn sucks. Golden Girl sucks.
Pardon my French, but how in the holy FUCK does Sun know? She has never faced any of them!
The only members of the BRA roster she has fought are the Syndicate, and that wasn’t a fight, that was an ambush. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling anybody to feel sorry for the poor Syndicate girls–I’m saying that Sun has never faced any of them in a fair fight, so she has no way of knowing if they suck either.
I’ll tell you something else. If this were a real wrestling promotion and Sun cut a promo like this, I would be booing the hell out of her because she just dissed the entire fucking roster, when very few of the people on that roster are what she says they are. So they don’t deserve it.
In closing, I am honestly beginning to wonder whether the “Frenemies” title actually refers to Sun instead of Cocoa.
/end rant
Sorry if that was annoying to read.
*Despite, you know, being good enough to earn a shot at Brenda’s championship back in RA. How many title shots has Sun earned? Zero. So yeah.
Well you have a lot of insight to share.
These are all great points and I’m happy to say that Sun goes into her reasoning and points in the next update. You’d have to think that Atlas will be one of those points. ๐
Oh, I will say this, though. There actually is one very good reason for getting out of BRA as soon as possible: Atlas is there.
If Sabrina stays, Atlas would probably end up using his authority to make her life hell. I’m kind of surprised he hasn’t done it already, since he seems like the type to hold a grudge. Unless he gets fired real soon, the smart thing would be to head back to the States and more trustworthy boss (relatively speaking) in Gabrielle Reni.
No matter where you go you will run into people that are creeps.
Lordy, too far Sun too far… good way to make Sabrina’s choice an easy one. Good pay, a job after wrestling, a lighter schedule, a bf..vs what..being hated because she popular, having to deal with several targets on her back, a harder schedule..but the later makes her what.. an actual wrestler? Ima go out on a limb and say black widow would eat sun alive..and I imagine a couple of the BRA girls could give Sun a serious run for her moneynIf not beat her. I guess in Sun’s mind its better to be a curtain jerking spoo but a “wrestler..then an athletic model. Sabrina should put the boot on then ultra kick the attitude off Sun and back to the U.S…. go sabrina go.. stand up for yourself!
Yeah, what pissed me off the most is Sun constantly looking down her nose at the BRA roster. Because again, how many of them has she wrestled? None. How many of them has she beaten? None.
I don’t want to turn into one of those guys who wishes harm on the characters, but I find myself hoping that Sun gets in the ring with somebody on the BRA roster, one of the people she takes lightly, only to get utterly destroyed and wind up counting the lights.
That is how I normally react whenever somebody goes around talking about how great they are and how crappy everybody else is. I want to see them taken down a peg and realize that, no, you actually are not the shit.
This could explain the lack of friends for Sun.
That it could but she’d be happy to tell you that she’s okay with it.
Yeah, this decision isn’t as easy as it seems. High-grade resentment back home is definitely a factor.
Clear case of Sun letting her temper get the better of her. Maybe it’s reverse psychology, but Sun just isn’t that subtle most of the time. It seems like the contract offer was the spark that lit Sun’s short fuse here, leaving Sabrina going ‘huh buh what?’ Maybe Sun is justified in her frustration with Sabrina, but she’s going about it the wrong way. I am still firm in the idea that RA is the only real choice for Sabrina if she wants to keep being a real wrestler (pretty much taking the polar opposite view of Drew here… if she stuck in BRA she’d be saying ‘I can’t cut it in a real fed so I’ll take the payday and lighter schedule at the cost of my self-respect’). But Sun… ugh. This has happened before, and it’s an issue that needs to be addressed. Sabrina hates confrontations with her friends, while Sun gets very rash and impulsive when she gets angry. In Sun’s case, she usually starts out with a very valid point, but her temper gets away from her and she ends up going farther than she set out to… and then is too stubborn to back off.
*sigh* Sun, I feel for you, but alienating your best friend is not the way to get her to come home.
But what are you basing that on, Adon? I mean, sorry to repeat myself, but there isn’t any way for you to know that the women in BRA are any less tough than the women in RA–again, except for Neko.
And since when is a lighter schedule a sign of weakness? Saraya Knight, as the current SHIMMER champion, wrestles a lighter schedule than Kaitlyn, the WWE Divas champion. Does that mean Saraya deserves less respect? Does that mean the rest of the SHIMMER roster deserves less respect than the WWE Divas?
Of course not.
And in real life, wrestlers NEED lighter schedules. It is literally the difference between life and death, since having to work WWE’s schedule has pushed wrestlers to rely on drugs to get through it, which has led to health problems or substance abuse problems, which in far too many cases led to their premature deaths.
Or to put it another way: MMA fighters do not fight on a weekly basis. Are you going to say that this makes them wusses?
I’m not saying that BRA women are less tough, but the organization itself is a way of spinning one’s wheels professionally. I’m not even going to say that wrestling in BRA is a bad idea in the short term… there are plenty of people there capable of putting on a good or even great match, and it’s never a bad thing to mix up your competition.
What I am saying, though, is that without titles, in a division of the fed that one of the promoters doesn’t take seriously, it loses a lot of its meaning. If there are no titles, where’s the incentive to improve? If every match is an exhibition match, there comes the question of ‘why should I care because it doesn’t matter’? It’s a harsh view, and I fully agree that the WWE’s way of doing things is a quick road to burnout, but RA seems not to quite follow that route — IIRC, most of their shows are played in a single arena, so there isn’t the killer travel schedule going on. I admit I could be wrong in this, but RA has their own arena, doesn’t it? And there hasn’t been mention of spending much time on the road throughout the comic.
Just to reiterate, wrestling in BRA isn’t so much a sign of weakness as it is a place where your career doesn’t really advance. Sorry if I gave that impression.
Okay, I’m sorry if I misunderstood you, which it looks like I did.
About the “no titles” thing–I actually think it might’ve been a good idea for Albone to have somebody say that on-panel rather than just tell us in the blog portion. (SUN: Championship?! They don’t HAVE a championship! SABRINA: Well…um…maybe they’re about to create one? But you know, even if I don’t get a title shot they made me a really good offer…) I actually missed it at first, and readers of the graphic novel won’t have any way of knowing at all.
But anyway, even without titles there’s something to be said for bragging rights. If you have the best record in the division and if you’ve beaten the toughest opponents there, you’ll have accomplished something, belt or no belt.
As for Rival Angels, yes, I’m 99.9999% sure they have their own arena and that they pretty much stay in Chicago, meaning that wrestlers there have a “once a week” schedule where everybody wrestles on the night they go on the air and rests up for the next six days. So no matter where ‘Brina goes, I don’t think she’ll risk burnout. It’s a question of where she’s happiest, and where she can make the most money the fastest to allow her to retire ASAP when she decides that she’s had enough of wrestling.
Concerning the no-title thing, you make a good point and I think it’s one that I can change in Sabrina’s dialogue. โThere isnโt a BRA champion yet, but they said Iโm one or two fights away from fighting for it.โ
Rival Angels co-opted the Chicago United Center into the Angel Dome. XD
Thanks, Rob… I understand how I touched a nerve and how my commentary about BRA could easily be viewed as mocking the people it it. That isn’t the case… it’s more that the parent company itself treats it as an afterthought, which limits the prospects of the ladies working there.
Albone, to be honest what they told Sabrina sounds like a… nebulous promise at best. They never said *when* there would be a BRA champion (if ever), and frankly the statement comes across as stringing someone along with big claims so they don’t stop to think about it too hard.
I think Sabrina has gotten wrestling into her blood. It happens, a lot… once they get into the business, it’s hard to look at it practically. It’s why so many people stick it out when there are easier and safer ways to make a living. That’s why I don’t think she’d be satisfied in BRA for long… there isn’t much sense of accomplishment it the way there would be competing for a dedicated promotion like RA.
The specifics of the deal aside, you got the mindsets of Sabrina and Sun down.
Sun is overreacting, but Sabrina may want to think twice and even three times about accepting the offer because it seems to me the girls of RA get more exposure than those of BRA (apart from Neko who I’m sure is under Atlas’ orders to be as “exposed” as possible every time she’s on screen, if ya know what I mean and I think you do). We’ve been shown that the BRA girls get 1, maybe 2 matches per show while the guys get the rest. In RA the girls get every match. Granted, there are more of them in RA than BRA, but with 1 match a show chances are if you’re not among the ones getting a top push at any one time you’ll be wrestling dark matches and house shows at best in BRA.
Those are some good points in favor of Rival Angels, assuming that the modeling, lighter schedule isn’t what Sabrina is looking for. But, we won’t have to wait too long to find out what she’s going to do. After all, she told Takashi she’d have an answer soon.
I say..
Sabrina have a good decision staying in BRA…
let her stay in BRA..
two more match for a title belt.. that’s good..
question who is the champ there? in BRA?
Sabrina have a great challenge in BRA..
I really wait this comic will turn..
RA to BRA
DO IT SABRINA…. SIGN IT..
FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR FAN M.G.C.
No champion in BRA. They’ll hold a 3-match tournament with 4 ladies. Two semi-final matches and one championship match.
The ONLY reason why MGC is saying this, so he would get rid of Sabrina & not be seen in RA anymore. lol EVIL BASTARD!!! lmao
and for the record Sabrina..
ULTRAKICK SUN…. NOW!!
No up side for this. If Sabrina stays she has to deal with the Sindacet, Widow, and a horn dog boss. If she goes back she has to deal with a entire roster of back stabbing bitches, a clearly bias sub CEO. And apparently both sides have a BFF that may or may not stab her in the back to get ahead.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t! Which way would you go?
so wait- Brina’s happy that she’s only a couple of fights away from a championship match- in a division with no championships?
Sun has apparently gone supernova here- i think she’s hiding the fact she misses Brina greatly and the idea of hardly ever seeing her again if she stays in BRA hurts her more than Sun wants to admit. it’s not like she’s really friendly with the rest of Damage Inc and she never gelled with Krystin and Brooke so Brina’s kinda the only real friend Sun has atm.
so Sun is going gutter tactics to try and emphasize what she sees as the bad side of BRA to try and keep Brina from signing (plus a biut of jealousy that brina’s got a boyfriend while Sun dumped hers for cheating- does Sun see this as Brina cheating on her friendship by 1) palling around with Cocoa and now 2) considering staying.)
Sabrina apparently doesn’t know there aren’t any titles. Although how she could’ve failed to notice is a mystery.
Anyhoo, I agree that Sun’s probably losing her shit because ‘Brina signing this contract means that it could be years before Sun sees her again. Unless Sun signs with BRA which, clearly, she’d rather not do.
given that she’s been over there how long now (months at this point?) and has never seen any sort of title match take place, if it were me i’d consider asking someone there about titles and the fact i/brina have yet to see a single title match during my entire time there.
unless she got told on the phone they’re starting a title tourney for the BRA grapplers i’m kinda wondering how she’s managed to miss this minor detail the whole time too. now if this was only a couple weeks into her stay then yeah i’d accept her not knowing but she’s been there a while now (1 BRA match/weekly show and we’ve seen clips of about 10 matches or so-assuming brina is on every week that’s still 2.5 months)
or brina’s being brina again and she doesn’t realize she’s getting a light heavyweight title shot against one of the guys so atlas can pit her against her boyfriend.
SUN would say that she’d be happy with Brina going somewhere ‘worthwhile.’ But, the prospect of not seeing her BFF for who knows how long is in play here, whether or not Sun would admit it or not.
There is some interesting thought that creating the championship is to keep Sabrina around. BRA airs so infrequently that they never thought they’d need one. Who would be your top 4 ladies to compete for the first-ever BRA title?
Interesting question. I take it you’re asking about a mini tournament rather than a single four-way match?
If so, Sabrina would be an obvious candidate if she were to stick around.
Cocoa should also make the cut due to her victory over Sabrina as well as another victory over none other than Black Widow.
And speaking of Black Widow, she deserves to be in it too, since aside from Cocoa and ‘Brina she has done very well against the rest of the roster. I can’t remember everybody she’s beaten, but she’s put away Kaci and Shamrox. And IIRC, she beat both of them in pretty dominant fashion.
Choosing somebody for the fourth spot is tricky. A case can be made for Callie since she had a good showing against Sabrina and as I remember it only barely lost. Then again, Shamrox has actually beaten Sabrina, even if she lost to Widow. I guess the simplest solution would be to have them wrestle for the spot prior to the tournament.
Oops, got my facts wrong re. Cocoa’s record. I’d thought that she had beaten Black Widow, and that Widow hit her with a chair afterwards. What actually happened was that Cocoa wrestled and submitted Mia Psycho. Then, as she was celebrating her win, Widow snuck up on her and smashed her with the chair.
So those two have never faced off in an official match, I don’t think.
I’d say that those are all good choices and Cocoa and Black Widow haven’t fought…yet.
i’d have to go with Brina/BW/Shamrox for the first three if only for the circle of A beats B who beats C who beats A. then Cocoa in the last spot cause she’s beaten Brina and hasn’t lost that we’ve seen since her intro.
plus cocoa adds storywise to the sun/cocoa/brina circle of mistrust than any other option so she has to be there.
BW/Cocoa first fight Shamrox/Brina second fight so the announcers can do the “Ultragirl has NEVER beaten Shamrox in all her time here at RA!!! how can she get by her this time?!?” leading to Cocoa/Brina in the finals where Cocoa’s true colors will be revealed… friendship>title?!?
Rob, thanks for your consideration, but I’ve actually left Japan at this point in the story, so I’d say that takes me out of the running.
KUNG-POW BABY! Let the claws come out and the wrestling begin! Now this is drama! Good friends taking different paths, a sense of betrayal, sexual inuendo, potential rivalry…why this series could be called Rival Angels! Al delivers the goods again!
Ah, you’re much too kind. ๐
Sun needs to sit down and shut up, she sounds like an infant.
You’re awesome, Golden Girl. If you ever decide to take your talents to the take your talents to the Freakin’ Awesome Wrestling Alliance, my character will have your back and put in a good word for you with the powers that be. Who, incidentally, are much less of a pain in the ass than Atlas.
(Oh, I had put fake tags around much of the above post, but they didn’t show up for some reason….)
Argh, they didn’t show up in that last post either. I guess the comments hate anything with the pointy brackets around it that isn’t a real tag. Well, these particular tags said “SHAMELESS PLUG!” and “/SHAMELESS PLUG!” because, of course, that is what it is.
This arguably could be called a ‘tantrum.’
OOOOOOOOO!
She makea me SO MAD!
*stamp foot!”
I think Sabrina should return to Rival Angels, for the following reasons:
1: Sabrina’s character is one that isn’t inclined to take the easy road, though it looks like she’s having a crisis on that front.
2: BRA is an easier gig, yes, but the prestige and motivation has to be a LOT less than Rival Angels, in terms of women’s wrestling. I haven’t seen SHIMMER yet, but having watched some of the women’s matches on Smackdown I can’t help but think that there’s a comparison to be made. The women wrestlers on Smackdown, quite frankly, look like kind of a sad joke next to the men. I really don’t KNOW what women wrestlers are capable of, but the Smackdown matches seem like brief explosions of bullying and vamping rather than exhibitions of strength, skill, and style. Whatever criteria WWE is hiring these ladies for, it doesn’t seem to be for wrestling talent or acting ability. Again, I haven’t seen SHIMMER yet, but I’m going to take an educated guess and suggest that a company dedicated to womens’ matches is probably producing better product than one who uses it as a gimmick.
3: Well, the comic is called Rival Angels for a reason…
4: Somebody needs to go back to RA and clean up the ninnyhammers and evil witches that have probably run unchecked in Sabrina’s absence. Sun’s not going to do it, even if she could.
5: I haven’t gotten my Strappy Italian Boot fix in far too long! Atlas is kind of a pansy compared to Ms. Reni.
All the same, while Sun’s heart is in the right place, she does need Sabrina to slap the happy heck out of her. She’s way over the top with the hate-spewing. Personally, I hope that Sabrina brings Shamrox back with her.
No Ogre…
I support Sabrina in BRA..
let her stay.. in BRA
You just want Alborne to get rid of Sabrina within RA, just admit it! lmao
You’re on the money with SHIMMER. ๐ I don’t mind tell you, Mr. Ogre, that with or without Sabrina, we’ll be getting more Gabrielle in the future. ๐
Sun’s blowing her top because her love life’s a shambles and she’s afraid she’s going to lose her only friend. (Krystin’s a roommate, and DI are business partners. None of them are friends.)
Sabrina’s avoiding facing up to her insecurities over her time in Rival Angels, and is trying to justify a bad decision that will make things for her easier in the short-term, but ultimately worse.
Both of them are emotionally immature numpties who could use a good kicking.
Callie vs. Sun. Book it, bookerman.
And if you want somebody to trip Sun up while she’s running the ropes to give you an opening, just say the word!
Callie shows her keen observation into human behaviour. ๐ As for Callie vs Sun…I’m sure we can fit that in somewhere down the line. XD
Keen observation AND bog-simple solutions!
you know some here getting real upset what Sun said but if ya read what Albone said. there are no champions in Bra so the whole 2 or 3 matchs away from a title shot is basicly a lie then.plus Sun may have been harsh but cocca got a past of stabing in back and very likey she will again if Sabrina stays. things is BRA wrestlers might not suck but they are much less given attention with less matchs then RA and no titles Sabrina would never advance and just always wrestle and model. id Sabrina ever wnated to make anything of herself she needs to leave BRA not cause the others there are not good but cause there is no room to advance there.
Hey Jenn!
Yeah, that’s the gist of Sun’s side of it, despite her feelings getting in the way.
Something I just realized: you know that FAWA e-fed I brought up? Recently the guy running it asked everybody if he should just not label the members of the roster faces, heels, or tweeners and just let everybody decide for themselves whether they thought somebody was a face or heel. Most of the people had no problem with that…
…and I think part of the reason that they had no problem with that is that some of the heels were coming across as faces by making good points, and some of the faces were coming across heelish. This does have something to do with today’s strip, so bear with me.
We’ve got a world champion right now named Gus Richlen who won that title by going up against some real evil people who were undoubtedly heels, my own character included. And just because of who he was feuding with, he came across as the face.
The only thing is that now he, just like Sun, is not taking his opponents seriously, and it comes across as him really being a heel and a dick. One guy won a tournament to earn a world title shot and had a very long reign as TV Champion before that, yet Richlen keeps on calling him “Mr. Irrelevant” and saying that he’s not on his level and so on. My character, Ryan Blood (since Ricky Steamboat didn’t use that awesome-for-a-heel last name even though it was his real name, I thought I ought to use it), returned to the fed and issued a challenge to Richlen and his brother (same guy controlling both characters) for a tag match, and the brother responded by just going into an unstoppable fit of laughter at the idea of Blood and his partner thinking they had any chance of winning. (His partner is a guy named The General of the Monkey Army, and if I tried to explain that name this would turn into the GREAT Wall Of Text instead of just a wall) Despite Blood having accomplished as much as Richlen more or less, and having beaten Richlen several times, and despite the General proving he’s most than just a comedy gimmick wrestler by being the longest-reigning hardcore champion in company history.
It’s rubbing me the wrong way and maybe it would be best if I said so to the people involved rather than going on and on about it *here*, but it’s just a pet peeve of mine when people don’t take other people seriously, or don’t think they’re worthy of respect.
Like Sun clearly doesn’t take anybody in BRA seriously, and doesn’t think they’re worthy of respect. In that sense, she’s like Richlen.
I know that Sun has never been a face exactly, but prior to this she was pretty much a lovable heel like Eddie Guerrero had been. She’d cheat in the ring, sure, but if she ever had the attitude she’s showing here where she looks at other wrestlers and thinks “Haha, what a bunch of losers!”, I can’t remember seeing it.
I don’t know if I’m in the minority, the majority, or what, but that makes it a hell of a lot more difficult for me to like her. Just like people in the FAWA are finding it difficult to like Richlen because of him doing the same thing.
I think Sabrina should grow up and make a decision for herself. Sun makes some good points but makes them badly. Ultimately, this has to be about what works for Sabrina, not for Sun, and the little brat doesn’t seem to understand that.
Sabrina might have an easier time making this decision if Sun wasn’t yelling at her…but grown up decisions is what this calls for. Can she do it?
L’Ouch! I myself would LIKE to see Sabrina in a jello wrestling match. I went to go see ladies oil wrestling one time at a bad in rural Kentucky, and it was AWESOME. One of the ladies have my buddy a lap-dance before the show.
Yeah, what they lack in skill they usually make up for in enthusiasm. Sounds like you and your friend had a great time. XD
Hey Sun, You know I love watching you work in ring and I love your style…. BUT SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LET THE GIRL THINK FOR HERSELF!
Yeah, Rival Angels is legitimate, you scratch and claw your way for everything and when you get it, you feel like you’re on top. Yeah BRA is more light hearted and fun, with less emphasis on the women’s roster because they have to share the card with the guys. WHO THE FUCK CARES?!? Let Brina decide for herself and do what makes her happy!
Sun is mean. Like Donny said: Shut the fuck up Sun. I hate her now. Brina do her best with what she got. And what wrong with modeling?? ๐ I love modeling ๐
Lots of serious and deep analysis and commentary here, and not one person said Sun needs to get laid. I’m impressed. For my part I’ve no idea how this will shake out or what Brina should do.
But as a champ I can tell you Brina would KNOW if there was a championship in BRA. We have a way of making ourselves known. Right GG? Right Callie? *grins*
You have a championship?
You make yourself known means of seismic shock.
That said, Takashi’s “1 or 2 fights” bit sounds like the “and you’ll have the opportunity for promotion after 6 months” line in a recruiting pitch.
Lots of serious and deep analysis and commentary here, and not one person said Sun needs to get laid.
I LOL’d. ๐
Well, Champ… it’s an argument as old as pro-wrestling itself. Pro-Wrestling is, in my opinion, at it’s best 50% skill, 50% theatrics and fan interaction. And people tend to forget, that Wrestling is an entertainment business. You keep the fans entertained, you stay in business. Now the debate rages whether it means entertaining them with skill or gimmick. Rival Angels seems to be about 90% skill, 10% gimmick. BRA, seems to be closer to that 50/50 line, if not a bit more gimmick than skill.
Thanks for your hospitality over the weekend for AMKE. Always a fun time hanging out with you, buddy!
Well, Sabrina seems to be enjoying herself more in the unfortunately-named BRA (I’ll never let it go), there’s something to be said for that, also the fact that Takashi, the good boss, thinks that Sabrina could get to be somebody in the wrestling world with them. So too is it worth mentioning that they have no title now, but they intend to make one and Sabrina would be in the running to become the first-ever champion (that sounds familiar…). And again, Sabrina has some friends here now, as opposed to damn near everybody in the back and their freaking mother, save for a very, very few hating her just for being alive or so it seems. And yet my points on the last page, of which Sabrina has no way of being aware, still remain. This comic is about her before anybody else, and the name of the league she started in is the name of the comic.
I disagree that Sun’s not making any points at all. She is, and some very good ones, she’s just making them very poorly. To her, Sabrina’s acceptance of how things are going in Japan is her only friend becoming less of the only person in the business she could even make that kind of a connection with and becoming more of a stranger who is in the business for all the wrong reasons, like Brooke. She’s not entirely wrong, but she’s not exactly right, either. I’m not standing up for Sabrina any less than I am siding with Sun when I say this, but the estimation that Sabrina is starting to lose what makes her the “Ultragirl”, it’s not exactly one I can disagree with. “We used to clown girls like that” Sun said for good reason, and RA Sabrina would have been a lot more up in arms about such a cheap victory as what Shamrox got over her, even if was to a friend. Sun sees Sabrina changing into the kind of wrestler her only friend never wanted to be and she’s letting her own emotions over things happening in her own life prevent her from getting her point across rationally. It’s times like this that I’m glad I’m not a character in this comic and so don’t have to deal with that temper of hers. Not because she scares me, but because I have a temper of my own and if I did have to deal with bad-mood Sun, there would be a lot of yelling from both parties, with not much actually said but still many hurt feelings.
Anyway, what should Sabrina do? Not my call, I’m not the one writing this story. But I can say that Sabrina should think long and hard about it. On the one hand, she’d be making her first and before BRA only friend in the business happy by going back to the States. It would also be the mature thing to do because in Japan for the rest of her career, for a few years, or just til the end of the month or whenever her exile is to be lifted, she’s going to have to face what happened with Brooke at the wedding eventually. And lest we forget anything, she also has to consider who she would be taking her orders from. Yes, there’s Takashi at MWA, but Atlas seems to be the more dominant of the bosses and with Gabrielle, Sabrina wouldn’t have to put up with in RA what she would in BRA unless Takashi grew a spine. Sure there’s Welker in RA, but Gabrielle is the big boss there, it’s her league and anything she doesn’t like gets changed. That being the case, she does have more friends in BRA, what’s more, a boyfriend, and she is closer to a title there than she is in RA assuming the talk of creating a title isn’t just talk to get her to sign. And she does have more enemies than anything else in RA. And then there’s the fact that RA is more like SHIMMER or some other serious all-female wrestling league that’s not RA, and BRA is MAW’s answer to WWE Divas (and anybody who’s spent time on the forums knows how I feel about WWE’s treatment of females wrestling). Tough choice, and in a way, both are right and both are wrong.
Though I would just like to throw it out there that if Sabrina does go back to Chicago, I would like very much for her to bring Shamrox with her.
Also, Sun needs to get laid. Since nobody else actually said it before Brenda mentioned that nobody said it.

Sorry posted this on previous page instead of this one.
Iโve read all the above comments with the fors and againsts interms of an actual argument but in terms of the comic itself it is called Rival Angels not Sabrina the Wrestler so I think she has to return to the RA.
Other points to support this:
1) unfinished business with Brooke
2) personal development
3) eventual showdown with Damage Inc. (whether she joins them or not)
4) show down with the reformed Hellโs Belles
That being said there has been a lot of character development with BRA so a cross promotion between RA and BRA would be awesome.
