FANART-BROOKE VS BRANDY
Charlie Rock came up with this beautiful image of Aphrodite Brooke Lennox putting Cowgirl Brandy Brandt through the ringer with a powerful Backbreaker! Anyone looking forward to these two fighting in the future?
Charlie along with his wonderful wife, do their own women’s wrestling webcomic, GALAXY WRESTLING ALL-STARS! But with a little bit of a twist…the roster isn’t confined to the world, but open to the entire galaxy! Princesses, demon girls and monster girls. What more could you ask for? He’s got two issues done and I hear the third one is close to being finished. Give it a look!
Anime/Manga/Movie/Game fans!
This didn’t get a lot of traction on Wednesday (Thanks JPIV!) so I thought I’d ask it here again!
What are some of your favorite fighting movies/anime/manga/games?

Thanks for voting!
Thanks!
You mean besides this series? 😉
Movie? Enter the Dragon. Hands down. Everything sort of lives in the shadow of this film. Though to be fair, Chocolate and The Raid/It’s Sequel are on my list, and there are other good ones too, but it’s the first thing I think of.
Series — I can’t think of any that have fighting as the main plot. Sure, it’s a tool often used, a subplot, and every–EVERY–Action show has had a Fight Episode (be it Gladiators, Pro Wrestlers, or Fight Clubbers), but few shows really about fighting. At least, none worth mentioning. At least for live action TV.
Anime/Manga? There are only two fighting series on my shelf. Mahou Sensei Negima and Claymore. The ‘ecchi’ elements of Negima are a bit offputting, but the character work and fighting scenes are good enough to make up for it. And Claymore? I read that one because the monster design is simply astounding. The fights are also well choreographed and characters are great.
But the monsters. Jesus. The monsters.
Fighting Games? The Street Fighter series. Alpha 3 was my first “major” game in the series (I did play the original Arcade cabinet of SFII Back in the day), and I’ve tried to play the others in the series when I can. Hell, I even keep up with the UDON Comics when I can.
oh I love claymore but from what albone said in the previous update he’s looking for a rocky-type or fight to save the world type build. claymore is more of a monster fight deal though the “Teresa kicks everybody’s ass” flashback was great 🙂
the manga does give a better build to the final fight sense than the anime which suffered from 1) getting cut from 26 to 20ish around episode 15 or so which forced them to rush to and end and 2) manga was still going on so they couldn’t definitively finish anything.
don’t know anything about the other one though 🙂
The third issue is up today.
Sheesh, I could hardly read the question without highlighting it. Bad colour choice.
As for fighting games, I’m a real fan of the Soul Calibur series. It’s basically the only one save Gauntlet (kinda a mix between fighting game and rpg) that I played consistently.
Movies, I really liked the Kenshin real action movie. Especially the end. Also (yes, it’s a Van Damme) the first Bloodsport. And I’ll admit, the first Mortal Combat. As well as actually most both classic and new Kung Fu movies (sorry for the bad name and generalisation). The one I like the best? Kung Fu Hustle.
Also a few Korean movies with good fighting scenes. The Man from Nowhere for example comes to mind. Or Musa.
Other ones… Does Once Upon a Time in a Battlefield count? Then there’s Crows Zero. And Volcano High School.
Anime/Manga: Well, can’t forget to put Ranma here. Also I kinda enjoyed reading Tenjo Tenge, although I’m a bit behind things there. Also quite adult, you’ve been warned.
Kaempfer is one of my “guilty pleasures”.
Yeah, that’s what came to mind without thinking too hard about it.
Whoops, sorry about the painful font color. !!!
Thanks for the list! It’s research, but fun research.
I recommend a manga called teppuu. The main characters motivations and personalty make her seem the villain of the story, but she is hilarious
Thanks, I’ll check it out. 😉
Looked it up and it sounds interesting. I’ll take a closer look at it, thanks!
