NXT
NXT was solid this week. Loved seeing Sami, if not a little confused. Will he be moonlighting for both NXT and RAW? I have a feeling that his match with Shinsuke will be his final one of NXT, win or lose.
Poor Deonna Purrazzo. Just straight up jobbing to Asuka and Emma week after week, but a paycheck’s a paycheck. She’s been doing a good job and I love evil Emma, I just wish I knew where they were taking her.
Hype Bros=Snore.
Balley and Asuka vs Eva and Nia was very good. I enjoyed it. A little disappointed if this is all the fallout we get from Eva eliminating Asuka from that battle royal. Eva remains a heat magnet.
How great is it when we get multiple William Regal sightings?
American Alphas and Vaudevillians was predictable but fun. A solid main event.
NICE action in this match! I love it.
Excellent dodge by Sabrina. Great athleticism, being able to fall to that position from standing.
Brilliant rescue by Sun, too. To be able to come back on the offensive so soon after that beating, she’s tough as nails, and a great friend to her partner as well.

So, Al, I had a crazy experience this week. My roommate and I thought we were going to get in a scrap, took our stances… and apparently it looked enough like real military Krav Maga that we instantly had backup from a couple guys who were either IDF or Massad who assumed we were theirs. They were out of their truck, armed, and flanking the other guys in three seconds. It was the wildest thing.
So first Brenda comes in when she’s not supposed to and now Sun. With all the flak Brenda took will Sun get the same flak? Of course with the move Sun left herself wide open for a counter attack by me.
Thanks!! Sun was able to help but she still needs to rest. She’s a good target for Snow right about now.

We sank into our stance, which is fairly distinct and lower than usual, and literally three seconds later, we’d gone from a two-on-three situation against bigger guys to a four-on-three situation in a military hand-to-hand formation with uniform stances, one with knives out and one with a gun. I guess they assumed we were part of the IDF battalion stationed here. The guys who started the fight decided to back away at that point, muttering some things that almost made our new friends come at them anyway, but we just exchanged some pleasantries with our new friends and left with nothing more than an adrenaline rush.
Even though we fight ALOT within the comments (lol), I am grateful & happy to hear that you & your friend are ok & nothing really bad or horribly went down. This world is simply going to hell as of late with whats been happening lately from Isis to Trump & so on.
A fight is just a fight, man. It’s cool that we got awesome backup, but if we hadn’t, so what? They weren’t armed, I trained my friend myself, and two on three isn’t ideal, but it’s not terrible if you’re trained in group strategy, which I am. And even if we did take a beating, what about it? It’s a beating. They happen. They heal.
The world is rough right now, sure, but this sort of thing is old as time. I appreciate the concern, unnecessary as it may be, but I’d appreciate it a lot more if you hadn’t used it as an opportunity for politicking. Tacky.
In time like these, a beating is the more desired option compared to guns, knife, suicide bombing, so what not. It’s just good to have back up (a lot of it namely). But still, glad to know that everything didn’t go down the even worse then it did.

When you’re being held in a fixed, vulnerable position like that, and someone is trying to punt your face, “GTFO” takes priority over “get just enough out of the way to be safe.”
…is what you have to tell yourself to connect the last panel to the one before it. She tried so desperately to get out that she rolled out of the ring uncontrolled. Otherwise, there’s not much to cause her to fall. Still, dat drama tho.
With the angle Sun kicked her from, they are both headed towards the far side of the ring and are going to hit the mat very soon. It looks like they went over the top rope in the last panel, but even saying Sabrina went over the first rope and Brenda went over the second, it still wouldn’t make sense.
I can see no logical reason how panel 4 lead to panel 5 with no action in between.
Well why did Sabrina go out of the ring? Look at the move, kick, the heavy weight champion slams into Sabrina and out they go. Now lets sing the song that fits Sabrina getting smashed and trashed by the move…

If that kick hit with enough force to send them both flying out the other side of the ring, Brenda won’t be getting up, ever.

I’ve been trying to puzzle this one out too. It only makes sense if Kitten rolled to dodge the incoming bodies and it toppled Brina over.
But in the first panel, Snow is between Sun and Sabrina, so if she didn’t let go of Sabrina before she moved (which wouldn’t make sense) Sabrina would’ve ended up closer to her not further away.
she was channeling her inner marty jannetty when he tried to dive through the window to get away from shawn michaels in that barber shop segment many years ago.
oh and hopefully Brenda didn’t Neville her ankle there in panel 4.
Same physics at dominoes. Sun hit Brenda, who hit Sabrina. So much off-balance, confusion and surprise sent the two of them over the side.
Short answer: Sun’s a ninja.

So, this week has been some of my favorite comics that don’t involve me in them, but I worry about sustainability.
Al, are you going to be able to have at least one panel of Brenda getting kicked in the face for the rest of the comic?

Though I can see why this is your favorite part of Rival Angels, everyone loves a Sweet and Innocent Snow Kitten.
Brenda already got kicked once in the head. It might be tough to get any more. XD
But that one really didn’t take. Brina should totally try again to make sure the Ultrakick isn’t broken.

Quick teammate moves by Ultradragon save Sabrina from a harsh beat down, but why do I get the feeling of deja vu at the end of that last panel ?
This isn’t turning out to be a good night for Sabrina doesn’t it ? 🙁
It looks better for Sabrina at this point than it did for Sun earlier in the match.
Depends on Sabrina’s landing on how well the night will go.
As for deja vu, the ladies tumble out of the ring from time to time. It happens.

Growls at you, this is serious not Slapstick. Then again my moves tend be more slapstick which throws off my opponents. Plus you are missing all the clips I tend to do.
Like right now with Sun crashing down from the kick I’d sing something like: Sun lives in Kittenland and she is wrestler. She used to walk around with a creep…Sun is her name and her mother has the same but everything changed her in Tigerland. S O S the Kitten took her father. S O S the Kitten took her brother. S O S the Kitten took her mother. S O S the Kitten took her family. S O S Sun is next….
Sabrina can bring the funny, usually unintentionally though.
It seems that Sabrina has fully healed from that surgery to replace her spine with a Slinky. And it just goes to show you, you can’t keep a good Ninja down for long. Now, the two of them are spilling to the outside. Fun things happen when the fight leaves the ring. I always loves when a fight breaks down into anarchy.
NXT was a fun ride. Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn is going to be great. Can’t wait for Hideo Itami to get off the injured list. A great strong style match between incredible athletes…
I might be in the minority, but I actually enjoy seeing how the Hype Bros play out in the ring. Zack Ryder’s more talented than the WWE has allowed him to show off, and Mojo has that thick power that that’s always fun to watch, a la Monty Brown. Plus, as a New England Patriots fan, anyone whose Okay with Gronk is okay with me.
Deonna Purazzo has promise. I get a feeling that she’s going to end up being like a lot of the Tag Teams or singles competitors that has started off jobbing, but then moved up the ladder as more talent gets called to the main stage. Emma and Dana… They have that gimmick you love to hate. The kind where you just enjoy them going up against Asuka and letting the Empress of Tomorrow kick some reality into them.
Bayley and Asuka is going to be an incredible. Asuka’s skills speak for themselves and it’s not many people who can cut an entire promo without saying a word and just smiling. And Bayley, She’s sunshine incarnate, Warm and makes you feel good… but you still better take care with it. How cute was she when Regal said how she redefined the NXT Women’s Championship… and she just smiled cutely and rocked a little like a teenager on their first date? Also they whet our appetite by not letting Asuka and Nia Jax lock up during the match.
American Alpha is always good to watch, and this match actually makes me want to see a singles match between Chad Gable and Simon Gotch. They have their own unique in-ring styles and seem to have a natural chemistry in matches that it takes to put on a really good one.
Anyone who knows wrestlers now if you give them a minute they can fully recover. That is why it is so important to never ever let them catch their breath.
O.k. Snowy don´t give Sun a free second, go for it :D!
Outside the ring is the DMZ and anything can happen out there. Just where Sabrina and Brenda will take it is anyone’s guess.
I’m glad you like the Hype Bros but I can’t stand Mojo. I like Zac quite a bit, but Mojo reminds me of certain peeps I grew up with. Not fondly either.
Most of the women’s action is top shelf, the only thing is the direction it’s going in because it’s not very clear atm.
I’m hoping they just bring Enzo and Cass to the main roster (they’re currently doing House Shows) and let American Alpha get a nice program in with the Revival.
I think Bayley is the equivalent of John Cena in merch and young audience appeal. I just hope they don’t jack it up when she gets called up to the main roster.
the big difference between bayley and cena on the main roster is probably going to be that bayley is going to come in as the kid centric merch mover goody goody face and if you boo bayley a kitten AND a puppy dies.
cena came is as young upstart no nonsense turned edgy rapper guy who suddenly is all about the company line and PG crowd and hey here’s another piece of merch saying the same thing as my last 7 but with NEW COLOR SCHEME!
Yeah, Cena was Thug Life, knowing he was from Connecticut. That and the forumulatic matches and pandering got people against him. I still like him, but I kinda see it.
I saw Bayley at SHIMMER when she was Davina Rose and had no idea that she would be this big. I love it. My comparison to her and Cena is that she’s got the kids merch thing down cold, but none of the mark heat, which is awesome.
Still, I hope they don’t jack that up when they move her to the Main roster.
Technically, Cena’s from Mass, about a 20 min drive from my neighborhood. But with Bayley, I don’t think they’re ever going to really change her babyface gimmick because, well, Bayley actually has a baby face. She looks like everybody’s little sister and would just not look right in a heel position.
This is quickly spiraling out of control. I’m not even entirely sure who the legal wrestlers are anymore (I think it’s still Brina and Rua?)
No it is Me and Sabrina. Sabrina did an uncalled for move in the last part, Brenda jumped in to make sure I was okay when Sabrina turned extra evil and kicked her. I grabbed her foot to stop her from assaulting anyone else that came into the ring. Brenda staggered forward as Sabrina fell over then Sun decided that she needed to clear the ring out and assaulted Brenda and Sabrina.
Yes, so out of control.
Well…the good news is that I remember who’s legal. XD That bit of confusion may have been purposeful. 😉
Sabrina must have some leftover Irish luck from Saint Patric’s day pulling off that Matrix move. And Sun making a timely save with that high dive drop kick. Though it looks like its gonna be snow and sun now after both Sabrina and Brenda take a rather confusing crash on the outside.
Always good hearing about my girl Asuka, hope shes doing well.
Asuka’s got a title shot coming up at the next NXT Takeover! Doing well indeed.
Sun and Sabrina are working to get that momentum on their side, but it’s a work in progress.

WASN’T THAT GREAT?!?!
Nakamura is one of the few who can legitimately claim to be the best wrestler in the world. Him against Zayn is the match I’m most eager for at Takeover.
A close second is Bayley-Asuka. Bayley has done a great job leading the division with only a couple of experienced women behind her (Asuka and Emma, and can I comment how great Evil Emma has been?)
Eva Marie might be a heat magnet, but she’s extremely limited in what she can do because of her lack of in-ring ability. Pairing with Nia only does so much to cover this because Nia’s got her own issues in that department.
Deonna is pretty much where she should be, right now.
Nakamura and AJ had a dynamite match. Top notch, I loved it. I can’t wait to see him in NXT, and hoping Hideo gets back soon.
Across the board, I agree with you on NXT. With Eva, heat is heat, but I think there is a difference between people not liking your gimmick and people not liking you.
I hope Deonna, Billie and Peyton get some love soon, along with Evil Emma. 😀
Agreed on the Nia and Eva issue. Why would you pair your least experienced girls? And honestly most greens shouldn’t be heels. Even if the crowd can’t get behind Eva, making her a bad girl just seems to make her limits more obvious.
With the amount of heat that Eva has always had, it made sense to make her a heel, at least in NXT. Beforehand they might have had a chance. I mean, those ‘you can’t wrestle’ chants weren’t wrong and hard to be babyface during that.
