Chapter 03-Page 24-Battle
Krystin is going to need more than her newfound Aikido to compete with the beast that is Rampage! She’ll need all of her wits, technique and creativity, and even then, Rampage is a force of nature. She doesn’t know how to slow down and she shakes pain like a teenager after 8 Red Bulls. Who do YOU guys have winning in this one?

This is gonna go for a couple more pages at least. The silence makes the fight more intense.
I’m glad you liked the silence on this page.
To be honest, I struggled with it a little bit. I didn’t want to put in groans or grunts and I’ve started adding stuff like, ‘choke’ but that didn’t quite right either. Fans aren’t all the way back on Krystin’s side either, so that’s why nothing there. I could’ve went with the crowd cheering them both, but I eventually settled with letting the action speak for itself. Glad it worked.
I’m not saying Krystin can’t win this, but in order for it to happen, a plan needs to start coming together real quick. It’s starting to look a little desperate.
Most people suggest going for the legs on a bigger opponent. I’m always a fan of targeting the midsection, regardless of the opponent. In this case, however, Krystin might be onto something. She’s working the neck. Sure, it was her only available option at the moment, but when fighting someone with a very forward stance, like Rampage has, it’s going to be the easiest target a lot of the time, and it’s a great way to get control of your opponent. The body will always follow the head. Circumstance may have offered Krystin a viable strategy. Wonder if she’ll keep it up…
Rampage HAS a neck?
There’s a bit ‘neath the chin that’s a bit neckish, in certain respects…
Nah, unless Rampage has been doing way more yoga than I suspect she has, that’s her weak point. I expect her to have very little in the way of flexibility in the spine, not to mention the trapezius. And she leads with her head, making targeting it easy, and targeting everything else difficult. It’ll be an uphill battle, but then, it’s Rampage. It was always going to be.
She calls herself Def Tech because she’s always got a plan. If it’s the right plan is still up for debate.
Body shots can be wicked, especially a liver kick which have cropped up in the UFC to great effectiveness when it scores. It’s sometimes a tough target though, depending on the body makeup of the opponent. That’s why it’s such a great sport with all of the plans, training and smarts involved.
The liver shot is a great fight-ender, but attacking the body is underrated as a general strategy. It’s usually less well-defended than the head, and attacks to the midsection sap your opponent’s endurance and mobility. It’s got a lot of the benefits of going for the legs, but not as risky. When they clue in and decide to defend their midsection better, they’re less aggressive, and they leave their head open. Exploit that for a minute, and they’ll be reluctant to protect their body again.
The downside, of course, is that the midsection can be really tough, and the options for targeting it with grappling are fewer, more difficult, and more high-energy than targeting the limbs. It’s a trade I’m almost always willing to make, unless the opponent provides a better target.
In this case, I think Rampage is offering her head to Krystin is an offer Krystin can’t refuse.
So much hugging and rolling around. Sweating and shaking. Reminds me of a time with my….
Another day ending in Y, Kitten?
catnip ball?
Krystin’s smart and here’s hoping she has a few trick left to win this one.
I think Def Tech always has an ace left up her sleeve, so long as she has a sleeve left to pull it from.
Right now it’s a race to see if Krystin can wear the Brahma bull out before the big girl breaks something.
Yeah, both of their physical and mental toughness is getting tested here. At this rate, I’d suspect that Rampage wins a war of attrition.
This is a smart plan by Krystin, take away the wind and drop the beast. It’s what helped Bayley beat Nia Jax and what helped Wesley beat Fezzik
Quality reference, sir. I salute you!
I agree with the Princess Bride reference. 🙂
The dragon at the end isn’t well set yet. But some minor adjustment would have Rampage going out like a lil kitten after a hard romp. Wouldn’t that be something to see!
Indeed it would! But that pesky Rampage is looking to flip the script.
I gotta’ say, Bren you were close calling Rampage’s counter last time.
As long as Kristin can keep herself from taking too many of Rampage’s hits and keep wearing her down with those submission holds.
Take it from a big guy, when you’re fighting a larger opponent the old advice stays true. use you’re speed and agility and take them off there feet. Aime low and chop there legs so they won’t be able to move easily and use there power. Ankles are the key target here, so a ankle lock or sharp shooter would be a perfect way to end the match.
Mm. Usually, sure, but look at Rampage’s stances so far. At long and middle range, she leads with her head and shoulders. Attacking the legs of an opponent like that is as high-risk as it gets. In close range, she’s got a solid base and locks Krystin into a grapple up high. Krystin would have to gain a lot more control over the situation before she could plausibly even begin attacking the legs.
Krystin has this in the bag. Playing Rampage like that and making her believe she’s unbreakable. Then *SNAP* Krystin locks it in and it’s all over.
Just remember you heard it here first, folks 😀
Doll! Always great to see you. 🙂
Great prediction. BOLD, I’d say, but still great. 😉
I like checking in on especially Krystin 😉
I’m glad you do. 🙂
hmm logically speaking- krystin is in the midst of a redemption angle where she just came in to help a friend and seen the ice thaw slightly among the two that she wronged after taking some shots she didn’t really neeed to. and after her early attempt at using something new she’s gone back to her bread and butter to wear down the larger rampage in an attempt to use the “big person will run out of gas sooner” idea when facing someone larger and if you can cut off the air supply it’ll go that much quicker which seems to be slowing Rampage down. a victory would be another piece of vindication in Krystin’s road to redemption and restore some of the confidence and direction she’s lost of late.
so therefore Rampage will win. ;P
That is perfect, logical, pro wrestling booking. 🙂
