Â
So I saw Iron Man this weekend and it was excellent, big ups to Marvel. Â I’d say this clocks in after the first two Spidermans and tied with the first X-men movie, though the second X movie was very good.
From the get-go, they set up who Tony Stark was and where he was going and then dropped him into the fire, so to speak. Â Robert Downy Jr was excellent as Tony Stark. Â In the comics I always thought that Tony was a charming, smooth player, but never did I think he was a funny guy which he most certainly is in this movie. The movie is funny without it being distracting and there are some great moments with his robots, specifically the flame retardant robot. There’s also a hilarious scene aboard Tony’s private jet.
Iron Man himself is awesome. Â I marked out hard when he was flying around, like in the picture above almost as hard as when I saw Spiderman swinging around for the first time. Â Man, I’d do that for hours if I could.
The cast was very good. Â Howard and Paltrow were solid but the guy who stood out the most was Jeff Bridges (The Dude!) and that shouldn’t be any surprise, but well, it sort of was. Â The guy was flat out amazing as Obidiah.
I myself didn’t find too many things askew from the source material. Â Sure they updated Tony’s origin from Vietnam war to the one in Afghanistan and made Rhodey a General, but these are very minor. Â No complaints whatsoever.
So if you haven’t seen this yet, I strongly suggest you do. Â Prepare for a good movie, maybe the best so far this year.
Dude, I hope you stayed for the scene after the credits. It was a hum dinger!
Absolutely, I stayed til the end. In fact, only TWO people left before the credits were done. You’d think they would’ve got a hint that NOBODY else left the theatre and were waiting til the end.
I predict that we’ll see a very similar ending for the Hulk next month.
I’m looking forward to Hulk 😉 And the theatre in my town…all but my dad and me and the group of kids sitting next to/behind us left. Dad was getting ready to and I was just “No Dad, oh no, stay.” 😛 It’s nice to have friends who see the midnight and know these things 😉
BUT OWH MAH GAWDS THAT MOVIE WAS AWESOME <333333333333 I don’t buy movies, I just don’t. But I am SO buying this one!! 😀 The robots, oh goodness, they were so my favorite <3 I loved the fire one, and I looooved the one towards the end. “….good boy -crash!-” Oh man oh man. x3 I could seriously talk about this movie and rant and rave for a really long time. AGGHH 😀 So yeah, I think I’ll leave it at that 😉
PS: I’m more excited for TDK 😉 HARLEY might be in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Iron Man was a practically flawless hero flick; its makers drop some pretty obvious sequel hints too… i’m thinking the next one should be equally great
Hannah, I’m glad you liked Iron Man too! And way to go Dad for not leaving too early. Awesome that you’re a card carrying fangirl with looking forward to the Hulk and Dark Knight. I had not heard that Harley might be in it, but wow, that’d be cool. I’ll be there with you buying a copy of this when it comes out, I heard that they cut some really cool CGI scenes so hopefully that’ll make it in the DVD.
Patrick, I agree 100%. If the next Iron Man actually improves (big feat, considering the first was the awesome) like Spiderman 2 did, its going to be crazy big.
Hahaha I am most definitely a card carrying Harley fangirl! 😉 I’m crazy for her!! (I hope that works =P ) Hulk I’m not so much the big fan of, my comics were always Batman and X-Men when I was a kid 😀 But this upcoming Hulk movie looks like it’ll be GREAT, an enormous improvement over the last one :3
Ooohhh extra scenes = WINNINATION <3 This is totally a movie that I would get the special edition of. And I do NOT buy movies!!! xD The last one I bought was Casino Royal 007 and before that like…uh…Mulan I think!!!
Ironman was the 10th biggest release EVER and came second in opening box office to Spiderman, which came out when movie going was 15% higher. Soooo that isn’t bad at ALL! I’m suuper pleased and I think Marvel Studios is gonna go a long way, pretty freakin fast!!
WB Studios has been denying that Harley would be in it, but apparently Sarah Wynn (?) or something, her online portfolio had Harley written as her role for a while! They took it off so now it still says that she’s in TDK but not her role. And IMDB has her down……with no role. She’s lilth, blond, blue eyes, and plays silly-funny roles. It’s HER! <33333 Though judging by the entire “feel” of the Batman movies (since they’re kinda dark and she….isn’t) she’ll probably be Harleen. My one friend is guessing that they’ll kill her off ;__; Another is supposing that it’ll be like the last scene, the Joker in therapy with Dr. Quinzel. Idunno! I just caaaaaaaaaan’t freakin’ wait <3333
“Harleen Quinzel? Work it around a bit…you get Harley Quinn!”
“Like the Harlequin, I know. I’ve heard it before.”
Squee~!!!
Ironman, nice movie..Tony Stark revealed “I am Ironman”.. nice!!!
In Rival Angels
what if Sabrina a match.. Sabrina gets a micophone and said “I am Ultragirl” heheheh
Hannah, I think you’d have to be crazy not to like Harley. And considering Harley IS crazy…well, I don’t know what irony is, but that’s gotta be it. Hmmmm, would love to see Harley in the upcoming TDK movie.
MGC, I think you’re on to something man. “I AM ULTRAGIRL.” 😀
