Chapter 02-Page 29-Best At Everything
I guess it’s official, Ultradragon is no more. Damage Inc. is starting to look kinda shaky while we’re at it. Kara’s lucky to have gotten out of there with her head still attached.
Big points and cred for those that recognize the names Kyra dropped, (Tommy) Maxwell and Hazzard, who were part of the Original Upstarts. 🙂
MONDAY NIGHT RAW
First of all, RIP Balls Mahoney.
It’s weird that Shane is still in control even though he lost his WrestleMania match. Ah, WWE, but I will say that I am enjoying a Face run Authority story, one where the face underdogs aren’t constantly jumping through hoops.
Charlotte vs Natalya
It was a pretty good match, if not predictable. Nattie’s best years are behind her, at least her championship ones are. Charlotte continues to annoy me. Dr. Phil was surprisingly funny and solid. Yes, I can’t believe I said that.
The arrival of Bullet Club members Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson was very cool. Not sure why Byron and Cole kept asking over and over why they attacked the Usos, but I’m sure we’ll get it sooner or later. 😛 Will Gallows and Anderson hook up with AJ, Finn or any other Bullet Club members? The crowd is sure to chant for it. As far as the Usos, man, I love them and Jay used to be my favorite TOTAL DIVA, but is it me or do the Usos seem kind of…boring?
Sami vs AJ was a great match and though I’m a Sami mark, not horribly upset with how things went down. I think it helped by how it played out backstage. Also, the cynic in me thinks that AJ is just getting fed to Roman anyways.
Not that I’m against Roman. I’m not one of the crazy marks Cena-booing him, but the WWE has an identity problem with Roman and they need to iron it out.
Nice to see Maryse and I see her accent went away from all that California living.
Dean Ambrose was on point and Jericho was too. Apollo is crazy impressive in the ring, I just hope his mic skills catch up. I have no idea what they’re doing with the Wyatts, or the League of Nations for that matter, but it’s refreshing not to see Bray losing. Of course, the next PPV is coming up.

Kyra really is a dope isn’t she? I mean, Sun looks like she’s got a lot on her plate emotionally and here she is just kicking her where it’s sore, and not even realizing she’s doing it. She was dang lucky that Sun didn’t just start swinging at her.
Sucks to hear about Balls Mahoney. Dude was one of my favorites from the glory days of ECW.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Nattie have at least one run with the title, I mean lets face it, even before the revolution, she was one of the few serious woman wrestlers in a roster full of Divas. And yes, Dr. Phil was pretty much on point with everything wrong with Charlotte’s character. Lets face it, we all laughed our asses off when he WOO’d right in Ric’s face.
I wonder if Gallows and Anderson hitting the main roster means that Finn’s going to get the call-up, or if like you said, they’re going to side with AJ. One thing’s for sure, they’re going to bring a lot of violence to the Tag Team division. As for the Usos, I think the way they were being booked really hurt them. They were getting over as hell, yet not going anywhere, then they tried to put them as side supports to Roman Reigns and hope the crowd would cheer. They’re still one of the most entertaining in-ring to watch, though.
Sami vs AJ was everything we could have hoped it’d be, and it was great to see there was no swerve at the end. Shane even coming back and congratulating them both on a phenomenal match was a good touch too. Sort of gets you hopeful that maybe they’ll stop focusing mainly on the big guys. Then again, Kevin Owens is probably going to try and screw up any chance of Sami attaining any success on the main roster. Loved that Shane isn’t buying any of his “I deserve everything because I’m Kevin Owens” bs.
I’m looking forward to Cesaro uppercutting Miz’s face to the top of his head. Though I will say that having Maryse there does help deepen the “Direct-to-video” A-lister’s persona.
Ambrose and Jericho were just fun to watch. They played off each other so well and Ambrose’s “I just don’t care” gimmick is just the sort of thing that will infuriate Heel Jericho to comedically epic levels.
Kyra believes that she is the center of her universe and that everybody, if they’re smart, have similar thoughts and desires as her.
LOL @ Cesaro uppercutting Miz’s face off. XD Life is always better with Maryse.
All in all I think it was a good RAW and maybe in no small part because of the tone shift, from Heel Authority to Face.
And yeah, I LOL’d hard for Dr. Phil Woooin Ric. I have no idea where they’re taking Charlotte.
I can’t speak about how great a clean finish was appreciate in with AJ and Sami.
Which upstart did Maxwell train? (Too lazy to look it up myself)
Tommy Maxwell trained Krystin but he also ran the (American) wrestling school and developmental league that Sun was a champion in.
He was also one of the ORIGINAL Upstars alongside Hazzard, Kid Extreme and Cannonball Kyle Pallas.
I think there has been a few events of foreshadowing this chapter.
Yep and some eventual callbacks. The only shame is that it would be smoother read at one time, then say, 2X a week, but such is the nature of the webcomic update. XD

Friendship is a powerful thing. Maybe more powerful than Kyra realize. I still believe Ultradragon can make a comeback and have their friendship remain intact along with their careers.
However, only time can tell if that prediction can come true.

Regarding RAW…
Are we really seeing a fair but strong authority figure? This really feels weird…
Tag Tournament is probably the bet idea ever, imho. Why? We all know this is “entertainment” *barf* but if you are going to have titles… you have to make them MEAN something. They really need to stop treating the titles as just fancy props, but actually show people wanting/needing them. That alone justify face vs face matches and they need to also show this. When 2 faces collide, have them shake hands afterwards or just go out talking like the good sports they are supposed to be.
This is why Nikki usually does the talking for them.
yeah, it’s great to see the importance placed on the tag team titles. The addition of Gallows and Anderson helps make it that much more interesting.
*Sigh* And she was doing so well too… until panel 5. This girl really has a bad case of Foot In Mouth Disease.
She does seem to hold Nikki’s opinion in high regard though, so I think I have a way for her to avoid future situations like this. Before she says anything all she has to do is ask herself a single question: “Would Nikki Gibbs-slap me upside the head for saying this?” If the answer is yes then mouth stays shut. 😀

Kyra is not one to mince words or beat around the bush. You’ll know what she’s thinking, whether you wanted to know or not.
And yeah, I don’t think we’d hear much out of her if Nikki had to okay her first. XD
I guess that was one way of trying to say the team should be put back together. Ended up ruining though. Still surprised Sun hasn’t gone after Sabrina yet! They could still be a great ag team and even the champs but they need to be willing to fight for there team too.
As for RAW, it seams that the inconsistency of WWE just keep coming. Shane being in charge despite having lost his match, Romans’s identity, what the hell there doing with the Wyyats, Dr. phil.
Would be fun if the bullet club faction reformed in the WWE and not just in new japan.

Bray…I have no idea what’s going on there. I can’t help it’s some weird way to get Roman over but not sure how. Heck, maybe they don’t even know yet. XD
I’m hoping for a Bullet Club reunion though I caution that we may be at the limit for how many stables we can follow at one time.

I haven’t watched this week’s RAW yet, but there’s two things in that summary I have to comment on.
1. I was a huge fan of the Usos when they were a seldom-seen afterthought that WWE only used for the pointless spectacle of multi-tag-team matches. They’re relatively unique, and they put on a very athletic show. Then they got their first championship run and became one of the focal points of the tag team division, and I got really bored with them in a hurry. They can pull off a fast-paced, athletic match, but they can’t draw me into it. Somehow, they’re some of the best boring wrestlers in the business. The first bit of Uso-related entertainment I’ve enjoyed in forever is this post, because
2. The label Diva isn’t particularly flattering on a woman, but much, much less so on a man. Calling Jay your “favorite TOTAL DIVA” is hilarious.
Ha! Well, on the show TOTAL DIVAS, Jay was around a lot because he’s married to Trinity. Because they’re both gone, Tyson Kidd is easily my favorite Total Diva, him being on because of Nattie being on.
The Usos seemed to excel purely on work and talent but we all know in wrestling you need mic skills and a personality to get over.
I’ll forgive lack of mic work and personality. My issue is their lack of in-ring storytelling ability. The greats, you’re on the edge of your seat, tense with anticipation, breathlessly awaiting what comes next. The NXT matches between KO and Zayn or KO and Neville are the iconic examples. When it comes to the Usos, I feel more like I’m watching trapeze artists – I appreciate the ability and the athleticism that go into the performance, but they’re working together to put on a show, not convincing me that they’re combatants struggling against each other.
And yeah, I knew what you meant. Still funny. 😛

I think I agree with you and in that, it would seem that the Usos need some purpose (outside of being the champs) to help drive them forward. I cringed seeing them go against still-heel New Day, though Heel New Day were getting cheered louder than the Usos (this would’ve been right before their switch).
Gotta agree there’s something to be said about having other intangibles beyond mic skills to draw a crowd in. Masked Kane bck I the day didn’t even a face to show, never mind talk (beyond that device he used). Asuka lacks a firm grasp of English to pull a proper promo in English. You will have a real hard time convincing they weren’t fun to watch.
Maxwell and Hazzard were the only two I didn’t get.
