Sun’s got big plans, big dreams, but she’s about as far from them as she’s ever been.

NXT
This was a fun NXT. I really like Alexa ‘Never Skip Leg Day’ Bliss, and a nice Heel vs Heel match with Tessa Blanchard. I’m sure she’d love to team with Charlotte but I really don’t see it in the cards. That said, I liked this match and both ladies looked strong.
Austin Aries vs Angelo Dawkins was good. I don’t recall seeingAngelo in a while and I think it’s hilarious that bit about him stirring it up, or mixing it up or whatever it is.
I thought Baron Corbin was gone. :/
Hayley vs Liv Morgan was good. Liv had a strong offense and looked great, but this is Bayley we’re talking about and she looked good and put over Liv before putting her away.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Perfect 10…I don’t know what it is, but man Shinsuke is awesome and he made Tye Dillinger look like a freaking superstar. I enjoy watching that dude.
Sun might throw in the towel and could become an indy wrestler if she can’t get those titles.
Or she becomes a mid-carder. No shame in that, at least from wrestlers and MMA fighters alike say about it.
If anything, Sun’s is in dire need of an epiphany.
She’s ambitious. And young yet. She’s healthy. There’s time.
One does have to grasp. But not all the toys on the table at once!
This was a blow that Sun wasn’t ready for, but as you say, Time, is on her side.
The big question here is… are the tag team belts the only reason she wanted to keep Sabrina around?
NXT was sort of a trip for me, I mean… I think that was the QUIETEST NXT crowd I have ever heard.
Tessa Blanchard, I wouldn’t mind seeing her around more. She has a lot of potential, though you’re right, I don’t think they’d ever try and team her up with Charlotte because I don’t think they want anyone to step into the spotlight and possibly outshine a Flair.
Aries was incredible as usual. That guy can make a match against the invisible man look good. Angelo Dawkins, he’s a great worker, solid performer… but I just think he’s ever going to get any sort of run.
Bayley is doing like a Bayley do. Just goes to show she’s a champion who isn’t defined by the belt.
Shinsuke Nakamura is going to be a PRESENCE, and there’s no doubt about that. My big question is, are we going to see a full on Puroresu style match between him and Hideo Itami once he gets off the Injured List? Only time will tell
Tessa and Charlotte will eventually team up, but not now… and anyway it looks like they are starting a way to phase out Ric Flair, slowly. Great heel heat, but i’d rather see only women around during those matches, and Ric’s point is already accomplished imho.
NXT:
Tag match was ok. I’m not as high on Gargano as others are, and Ciampa not having the fire like he did against Samoa Joe was not a plus for me.
I think both Bliss and Blanchard have potential, but I don’t think we necessarily saw their best in this match. Tessa catching Bliss’ slap and then screaming was a great fired-up babyface moment but then she followed it up with some frankly mediocre forearms that killed that off. Alexa putting on the crazy eyes with a one-handed choke like she was the bloody Undertaker made me laugh, which I don’t think was what she was going for there.
Baron Corbin looked really good in his match with Tucker Knight. He’s looked good before, but usually in matches with better opponents like Joe or Aries. I think he might be coming into his own just as he transitions to the main roster.
I like Liv Morgan’s look, and she looked good in this match, though I’ll need to see more to know if it was anything other than Bayley carrying her.
Whoever put the Nakamura/Dillinger match together is simply brilliant. They had me in stitches, and they did what they set out to do perfectly. 10 minutes of these two wasn’t going to get close to the 25 minutes Nak got with Zayn, so they went a different direction entirely, bringing the comedy and the character, and exposing the portion of the crowd that hadn’t seen Nak in Japan to that aspect of his personality, all while still putting him over as a total badass. Even the crowd (which can get a bit irritating with their overblown chanting at times) hit its spot with the “He’s eleven” chant. Wonderful.
I love me some Milwaukee workers, and I’m glad to hear that Clampa and Gargano are on the NXT roster full-time.
I think I saw where Tessa blew a spot….she and Alexa were supposed to trade blows, but Tessa just kept at it, and then realizing her blunder. I’m happy to see Alexa without her boyfriend and his BFF.
I’ve always liked Aries though there was a time he seemed like he REALLY wanted to be CM Punk in the worst way possible. I’m glad that he’s moved on from that.
When it comes to Baron Borbin, I just check out. I have a feeling that the BREAKING GROUND show is responsible and not the best reason for my indifference, but there it is. I will say that the show changed the Mrs. mind about Carmella, going from loathing her to loving her. #BayMela.
LIv Morgan! I think she’s got some potential. I am hoping she doesn’t catch an injury and I’d love to see Billie and Peyton more.
Loved the main event for all the reasons you guys have said. I didn’t know about Nakamura before, but I do now.
Oh poor Sun, the pain has only just begun. You are going to have to watch another team take your tag title dreams from you. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
Which team?
The #1 contenders, duh.
Oh, the Catgirls?
Poor Sun. Some days you just need to regroup.
NXT-wise, who was the Jersey Girl that Bayley fought? She looked about twelve and not quuiiite ready yet. A few almost-botches there, and a very awkward handstand-rebound-off-the-ropes spot.
Tessa was nice though. I’m actually glad they jobbed her out to Alexa Bliss first, though. No free rides to the top just because you’ve got the right family “name,” (looking at you, literally-anyone-vaguely-related-to-The-Rock.)
Sun definitely could use some time to figure out what to do. Also, she’s gotta see what Sabrina gets them into next!
I thought LIv looked a lot better than Tessa, but I’m hoping for the best in the future. I’m not sure Tessa has a whole lot to offer other than what we saw, so I don’t know that we’ll see her on the RAW roster, or even the NXT roster any time soon, but I’d love to be wrong. I do enjoy her work at SHIMMER when she works with Vannessa Kraven as her bodyguard.
I saw Tessa on YT for WSU and I thought she was pretty good. She reminds me of a young Serena Deeb.
Good stuff…Sun’s soliloquy.
Spoken from the heart.
Here’s one bit: what does Sun’s mom think of her wrestling stardom?
Think of the conversation that they had after hearing what the Catgirls said.
it can be rough when you don’t see a path to your goals.
There are some big obstacles in her path, and there’s no telling what Sabrina’s doing that may (likely) add to it.
Poor Sun…
and of course she didn’t/couldn’t say this to Sabrina, because she KNOWS exactly what Brina is feeling and that she would take this as pleasantries and not how sun really feel.
Hopefully someone can stop Sabrina enough so she cool off…
Sun recognizes when she can and can’t talk to Sabrina. But someone needs to! We’ll know more next update. 😉
Excellent technique Sun, now you just need to work on your timing
Well said! It’s not often that Sun is caught flat-footed.
Too little and too late to say that Sun. 🙁
Now what’s going to happen after a night like this one ? 🙁
There’s a thought that says this might’ve been enough to stop Sabrina, but maybe not. Sabrina’s all wrapped up in her own head and it’s a tough tangle to work through.
No easy road to the top, but you have to have a goal. Otherwise, you’re just there for a paycheck… and doll, there’s better ways to make money. With no desire to get gold, you might as well work for a customs video outfit.
Well, maybe. There’s serious talk from wrestlers and MMA fighters that the gold isn’t the be all, end all. Sara McMann said that she’d get herself knocked up if she were the champ, because she doesn’t like the responsibilities that come with it. Many fighters are happy, something with no other choice to be ‘gatekeepers.’ Lots of guys and girls are happy to be fighting.
However, that’s not Sun. As the callback shows, she wants gold desperately and not just A title, but she wants them ALL! Even with Sabrina leaving, it’ll take more than that for Sun to abandon her dreams.
Sun being symphatetic: nice! Well here you go :D. Goals can still be achieved https://youtu.be/Lwr3vwPoAL8
Really, watching a Shinsuke Nakamura ring entrance is a main event itself. ;p. He actually pulls off that manly Michael Jackson look really well. And then you have his matches. Athletic moves, great in-ring psychology, can make his opponents look great. Never too late to get into the King of Strong Style. He is considered currently the top wrestler in the world for a good reason. 😀
And speaking of great wrestlers… I want to see Kota Ibushi in nxt. Seeing him in the audience at Dallas got me hyped. 😀
As for Sun… yeah, her timing was a tad off, but given the surprise Sabrina pulled, very understandable.
