Chapter 02-Page 7-No Pathetic Excuses
Things are cooking in the Ivory Skybox!
Brenda is upset with Yvonne’s tactics from their last match in the last chapter. Brenda is also not happy with Gabrielle’s booking including new addition, Camille Cote. I’m sure everyone is going to get along fine.
Next update: Camile Cote!

TopWebcomics, OR, the Rival Angels Facebook Page. Whichever one you use, don’t use, use both, neither, it’s all good.
Brenda ought to start her own fed… 😉
Save me a locker.
I thought she did and you help co-run it. 😉
Brenda was nice enough to let Mo Chen have matches in the Fabulous Warriors group. Back in the day.
That is an open invitation. We miss ya.
Yeah, get back here.
Have you ever been so angry you walk outside the frame itself?
Brenda barely fits in the thing when she’s calm.
Did you create a whole new persona just to give yourself that set-up?
…well now I want to say yes because that would be brilliant but I don’t think Mayyday would let me keep that up.
You won’t offend him with cash.
I assure you, I will never turn down free money.
Easy for you to say Callie but then again you are also a GIANT !
Well at least on the fine spot you can say Brenda wasn’t framed.
snickers
Brenda broke the frame.
Jeez, she acts like she will never get another title opportunity. Let somebody else have a chance.
So are you saying she should go silently into the night?
et tu, Brute’?
In the second page of the Prologue for this chapter, Sun and Sabrina are discussing the merits of ‘greatness’ and how much TITLES come into play. http://www.rivalangels.com/comic/chapter-02-prologue-page-2-roty/
Hence, a theme of this chapter, the pursuit of a Title and how far one will go to get it.
Fun fact: This is also her reaction when there’s no more ranch dressing at catering.
Or when she’s annoyed me and finds a surprise in her shoes
Or when Callie calls at 3am to pick her up at the precinct house.
Gotta say, Brenda’s got a bit of a beef here with Camille Cote sounding like she’s getting a title shot ahead of Brenda. I mean, the girl’s coming in fresh with a 0-0 Rival Angel record.
Well Camille is undefeated in Rival Angels so I guess that counts for something. Remember wrestling management only concern is the $$$
She comes with a record. But that counts for squat. She needs to prove herself here just like Styles had to prove himself against Jerico. Otherwise the locker room will not take her seriously.
Who says we take YOU seriously?
It’s the deal that both Gabrielle and Camille signed on for:
http://www.rivalangels.com/comic/chapter-15-page-32-epilogue/
I think I see what Gabrielle is doing here. Giving Camille Cote a title shot right off the bat is along the same lines as giving a green-as-grass rookie (Sabrina) a megapush right off the bat ahead of others who have waited their turn for a long time. It’s bound to upset the rest of your roster and make the newcomer unpopular among them through no fault of their own. I’m starting to think this is the state of affairs Gabrielle _wants_ Rival Angels to be in. Maybe she feels the talent is easier to control when they’re pissed off at eachother than when they’re not?
As for Brenda wanting another shot? She had her chance. Yvonne proved to be the better and smarter of the two, so time to step to the back of the line and let someone else have a go.
No winner ever just says okay I lost I give up.
Well yeah, cuz winners just WON.
Gabrielle was happy to ruffle some feathers with Sabrina’s push, but Camille’s eventual title shot was in the negotiations. Being a silver medalist in wrestling doesn’t hurt. But, Camille does have to go through Kim Hart this Friday before she can claim that shot.
Somehow I *don’t* think she’ll have much trouble with that. 😉
I’m sort of on the boss’s side on this one. You had your shot, you didn’t win. Go to the back of the line!
You just want her at the back of the line so you can look at her behind…
Honey, the whole world is watching!
That couldn’t fit in two frames.
Gabrielle isn’t unsympathetic to Brenda’s case, it’s just that she’s got prior commitments to honor.
Anything goes in the wrestling match and there is no such thing as a fair fight. 🙁
I wonder what makes Camile intro so complicated? 🙁
Good point, honest and wrestling don’t always go hand in hand.
Oh wait til you meet Ms. Camille. 😉
“If you find yourself in a fair fight, you didn’t plan it properly.”
Now panel 2 sums everything up here…The Catgirls not only look good from the front but also from the rear.
True. With a capital “T” and a bug Meow!
I was so happy with how that panel came out! 😀
Gabrielle’s position is reasonable. Brenda lost the rematch. Her claim to the title is over. Camille is the new hotshot superstar, and if a title shot is what she demands to sign up, that’s what she gets. What’s the worst that could happen? If she wins, she deserved it all along. If she loses, back of the line like everyone else.
Seriously, Shannon McCourt is the contender? Awesome! I’ll have to see if Yvonne is willing to get me good seats for that show…
I’m actually delighted to see Shannon get a shot. This could be just what she needs to launch her to the very top. The thing is she’s worked hard to get there and to help build RA into the powerhouse it is.
Shannon would make a good face for the org. Yvonne is only a marginal wrestler. She needs a stable to win. There’s no question she’s smart and a good manager of her stable. But a cheating manager is the face of Wall Street not someone the wrestling world would emulate. Camille isn’t there yet. Period.
Might be good for Shannon is someone was in her corner… nudge nudge.
Sure, we could do that mei mei. And that would make a statement heard around the world!
A smart businesswoman with the ability to manage big egos and an indifference towards rules sounds EXACTLY like someone the wrestling world would emulate…
Former champions don’t get the right to decide who gets to challenge for the belt. Contractually mandated rematch fails, you may or may not get another shot right away, and management decides who gets the next chance to challenge. That’s just how the business works.
You can say Camille “isn’t there yet” all you like, but at the end of the day, if she wins the belt when you couldn’t, then at this moment, she’s there and you’re not. If she falls short, you can make a decent argument that she didn’t deserve that opportunity, but until then, maybe she does.
Shannon won a Fatal Fourway to become the #1 contender to the World Title.

Oh yeah! I forgot details like that over the break.
Regardless, that should be an excellent match.
I think the answer is simple. If anyone wants to be #1 contender they have to get past me. By definition that excludes everyone but this complicated ringer, especially a certain scarecrow big mouth Brit who gets beat by rookies.
I was going to say my Brenda vs Camille #1 contender’s match senses are tingling. also tingling slightly less is a nagging sense that Brenda may be the summerslam cena to Camille’s BRRRRRROCK Lesner- though Camille needs a manager er…advocate first.
but in any case Darth Yvonne is no doubt pleased with your first steps towards feeling the POWAH of the DARK SIDE!
I totally agree that Vicky Buckingham should go through you to get a title shot, *slips into the queue behind Camille*
I think Gabrielle would love to get you in line for a title shot.
It’s like Sun said at the beginning of the chapter, if you’re not looking to be the champ, you have no business being in the ring. Of course, not everyone rolls like that, but there’s serious support for that line of thinking.
I’ve seen something like that happen before in WWE. Gail Kim got a title shot right off the bat. Granted WWE’s women’s division didn’t have nearly as deep a roster … but I can see why certain exceptions are made so long as they do not become commonplace.
There’s some prescient for it. In UFC, Eddie Alveraz and Brock Lesnar only had to fight a couple of times before getting a shot at the title. The idea is that their other achievements put them on the fast track to the title.
I think Gail Kim is the only person to capture the title on their debut though.
That sounds right. The IC belt and US belt have been won on debuts (Santino and Alberto) come to mind, but the Divas belt, Gail is a very good choice. 😀
Of what I know, here are the very first people that won titles in their WWE debut.
Carlito = US
Santino = IC
Gail Kim = Womens
yeah, but this is much ado about nothing. Camille has Kim Hart on Friday’s update, and she’ll be fighting at least once more I think. I don’t know that we’ll see all of her matches but we’ll hear about it.
The point is that Camille won’t be getting a title shot off the bat, though it reasonably might feel like it, compared to others who have been in Rival Angels for much longer.
Let me guess:
Camille de Sade : Ivan Drago :: Brenda Rua : Apollo Creed
Or you can just throw some no-name jobber (or a couple of anime-loving jobbers) at her so they can clean the ring mat again.
Did you see CREED? One of the best sports movies in decades.
That better not be the case, Brenda needs to get what RIGHTFULLY belongs to her. I say Triple Threat Match of Brenda/Yvonne/Shannon or even a Fatal Four of Brenda/Yvonne/Shannon/Cote.
These are not bad ideas. The solution will, of course, be much more messy.
