Chapter: Chapter 11 - The New Dream
Location: Rival Angels Headquarters
But, what about their singles careers and their individual goals?Β What do you make of this turn of events? More on Gabrielle’s reasoning for them remaining Ultradragon, but do you agree with her?
Voting Incentive!
So what happens next? Vote to see what’s coming up on Wednesday!
Called it! Well, the tag-team part any way. How can Gabby make Krystin and Brooke move back together?
Krystin and Brooke didn’t necessarily mind living under the same roof with each other. It was just the other two. I don’t know if this means that only two people get beds this time — I think they’ve all at least earned a mattress by now. With luck it’s a bigger house.
But Gabs can really make them do anything that was part of the original contract that they signed, if those original contracts are still valid. I don’t know the details regarding whether those contracts were renewed or renegotiated. That’s for Albone to cover.
Pfft. What have any of them earned?
Sabrina: Defied authority for the sole purpose of maintaining her image.
Sun: Lied to her boss to try to protect her friend from the consequences of her misdeeds.
Krystin: Using PEDs. May have put herself into a situation where RA’s TV Champ has to appear on a competing promotion’s television show in their gear.
Brooke: She won a match or two, right?
They can all sleep on the floor.
Sabrina: Rebel without a cause.
Sun: Looking to prove herself still, and deep down nice girl.
Krystin: Wrestling queen who will do ANYTHING to win.
Brooke: She needs to be in a bikini match.
I can put in a word and have you move in with them as house mom. Then you’d satisfy your craving for a title.
Thinks about it. It’s likely your best shot.
“House Mom.” That is frickin hilarious. XD
So it’s true, then. You did get “Cannot be required to defend the title against Callista” in your contract. How drunk did you have to get Gabs to agree to that?
Re-reading the last page might be more interesting with the benefit of this page/hindsight.
So, let’s recount. The woman that, according to quite a bit of you lot, was horribly manipulative, power-mad, a dreadful boss, et cetera, et cetera, has Sabrina agreeing to do whatever she says in order to keep her job and what she makes her do is:
Move back in with her old flatmates and join a tag team with her best friend.
SOMEONE STOP THIS HARRIDAN’S REIGN OF TERROR!
This harridan’s reign of terror built the business in the first place.
Excellent point.
Well, Sabrina is trying to save her wrestling career and the dysfunctional dynamic between her and Sun did produce one of the more stunningly swift victories in the history of Rival Angels. So I can see it.
Time for them to beat on a couple of red heads.
Her career has recently only been endangered by her own actions. She should be listening to cooler, wiser heads.
Well if they have a contract they need to do what she says. If not it will be interesting.
But at least it isn’t a terrible punishment, just baffling.
It makes perfect sense if one abandons certain pet theories about Gabrielle being an evil dictator and instead views her as an executive interested in the betterment of her company and her talent who knows that sometimes said talent needs a good kick up the arse to keep them on the path.
Very true. When Chloe de Sade and her bitches veered too far off the beaten path, Gabrielle flat-out fired Chloe, and nobody (with one possible exception) complained. When Sabrina didn’t want to work the boss’s angle, understandably, but one which would have given her an unearned title, and *that* after spending disciplinary time in Japan, it’s understandable the boss wouldn’t be too thrilled. Gabby wants to keep Sabrina around because she’s a good worker and a real crowd draw, BUT she has to remind her who’s REALLY in charge. It may not always be fair, but it’s real.
There is obviously a ulterior motive here. Gabriel just hasn’t showed it yet. Gabriel will always be a lying snake.
A) Gabrielle
B) Pffft.
That is… not nearly as bad as I was expecting. I may have been wrong about Gabrielle.
It is, there are some tough tag team groups out there and those two will have to learn to survive them. Plus Brooke snores really loudly, try sleeping with a buzz saw.
There’s another page of flashback so it might help or hurt your ideas on Gabrielle.
I agree with Callie, SOMEONE STOP THIS HARRIDANβS REIGN OF TERROR! Sun MUST REMAIN A HEEL & REMAIN with DI. This is going to be JUST LIKE Babyface Matt Hardy/Heel MVP teaming up together. lmao
Sun can stay a heel. Good Wrestler, Bad Wrestler routine.
Sabrina, “Please let me pin you before Sun beats the snot out of you.”
Sun, “Snap, snap, bite, bite, kick, kick, spit, spit!”
Why not? Works for you and Rose.
*wipes snowy’s face*
I”m thinking I should stay away after all, from viewing those Hardy/MVP matches, just so I’m not unduly impressed. π
this is not unlike the Superman / Batman teaming. Supes to crook: “It’s true I won’t hit you too hard. That’d kill you. On the other hand, I could turn you over to my friend. He doesn’t have super-strength. Which would you rather do?”
Panel 3: that look of Gabrielle priceless :). I guess Sabrina won’t mind this decision.
I mean forming a tag team with Sun.
Maybe? Sun was one of the top contender’s for the TV title and Sabrina’s been chasing it too for a while so it would seem that their individual goals are going to have to take a backseat.
You are right :).
Well I think Sabrina will like the idea but will Sun?
How will Sun’s old group take this?
How will the other groups take it when the Angels get back together?
I believe miss Yvonne Carmichael saw those two teaming up as a great opportunity a while back….if you guys remember the events from Club Redline and her conversation with Sabrina….
The only one that might have a problem with it would most likely be Kyra Gold
Yes and Yes. You have a good memory. π
*So “I’ll do anything you want” turns into “Let’s retcon this whole thing back to Episode 9”. Pretty sneaky way of retconning the mess Sabrina made.
*She’s a rags to riches story straight out of the mean streets of Auburn Hills. She’s a former teenage witch desperate for success on her terms. Together, they…
This is a LOT better than what I thought. And Sabrina better just be glad she dodged that bullet. There’s only so many you can dodge.
Gabrielle’s not done yet. π
Also in the penultimate panel, the boss looks a lot like Willow from Buffy.
Ohh I loved that old show. Sometimes they show them on the classic TV stations.
I’ll take it!
One happy family or the pooh-pooh platter?????
Loved the graphics on this episode. Well done Al.
Albone gets better and better with each new book.
Thanks all! π
Something tells me the boss is starting to making it back to my good books if she’s making decisions like theses.
I mean a Sun and Sabrina tag team can do them both a lot of good and the company some good too.
Plus, reuniting the Upstarts girls under one roof again can help them be a better team in the future despite their current problems.
So keep on going with the good news boss. π
Now we need to find out that the boss put hidden camera’s in the house and will make it a reality TV show. What would we call a show about wrestlers outside of the ring?
Gabrielle’s Angels
The Fantastic Four
Sabrina’s Heroes
Westlers Academy
How about The Cuckoo Nest. As in One flew over.
Or Another Roadside Attraction.
I had a friend recommend something similar with the focus of us seeing them run around in half-shirts and undies ‘hidden camera’ style. That would be a NO. XD
That is a very optimistic way to put that. π
1. I can see why Gabrielle wants Sabrina and Sun on a single team. The crowd found it particularly easy to chant “ultradragon” on many occasions.
2. I see the “living together” thing as a very nice way to put them ALL in their places, and teach them the difference between professionalism and random showboaty posturing.
I see confusion since some of them are members of other teams.
Drama is a big part of wrestling.
Things would’ve been positively ugly if Brooke were still a member of Hell’s Belles.
Either this is the tip of the iceberg of a longer list of demands from Gabrielle or Sabrina is getting off easy.
Neither. Both. XD It’s all a matter of perspective.
hmm i don’t think Krystin “i’m a big shot now cause i have a belt!” is going to be too happy with the Upstarts all living together again thing (holds out hope for the predicted spit-take from Krystin’s coffee at the cafe) cause she’ll think she’s beyond that now. “C’mon gabby you let me hang in your luxury box that one time do i HAVE to live with them again?”
as for the tag team thing i think it’s a good idea. RA so far has been all about the singles competitors so the tag division has been mostly relagated to “oh here’s a tag match in two panels” status (except the BnB/catgirls match and past ultradragon matches granted). which means there’s a whole bunch of characters that haven’t had their turn in the spotlight.
BnB, Towers of Terror, Catgirls, (can’t count Too Hott (sobs) cause Sara’s had her share of exposure (wink wink nudge nudge say no more) to date),Brandy/Vanessa, the hinted at Cheerleaders team, plus Nikki/Kyra (ooh can someone say tension in the DI ranks as they have 1.5 teams now chasing the same belt?) all have popped up here and there but never really had a storyline behind them.
so getting to see more characters is always good π
Possibly enough for a tag title tourney? Keep BnB out of it as champs, but beyond them:
Catgirls
Ultradragon
Towers of Terror
Too Hott
Cowgirl/Cosplayer
York Sisters
Kyra/Nikki
Cheerleaders
That’s 8 right there.
I like your handle of Krystin so much that I think you’re going to like page 4 next Friday. π
Showing some other established characters was definitely a bonus going this direction. And come on, can’t count Too Hott out. π
And it’s Premiere Cheer waving their pom poms and jumping around in skirts. π
At tag tournament would’ve been awesome but I didn’t want to get too close to when we did the TV tournament, but I so wanted to do another Bonus Life Battle Royal.
counting Too Hott out as far as characters that haven’t had much onscreen time since Sara did have the long campaign with Krystin (until krystin’s family helped her cheat her way to victory!) and Loretta/Sabrina have crossed paths to a lesser degree.
once things get going though of course Too Hott will rise to the top “cause they’re Too Hott and you’re not, and they’re goin’ straight to the topp!”
π got it in first!
Maybe that’s why Gabs keeps Michael around. Perhaps he writes good catchphrases? Between that and Brenda shouting pseudogaelic gibberish, it’s apparent it’s needed…
What?
Why?
Could this be the new “YES!”? I can see them climbing opposing corners, pumping up the crowd.
Of course it would never have the cachet of my war cry. CREAGH DHU!!!
Yeah, I’ve told you repeatedly, that’s not what the audience is calling back.
They’re yelling “BLEACH! BOOO!”
They’re zany enough to pull it off!
We have seen in the past how eventually tag teams blow up. My guess is that Gabriel is trying to do this. And making the situation worse by forcing them to live with a insufferable ego maniac, and a woman that Sabrina has still not forgiven for causing her to be banished to japan.
Gabrielle’s got reasons and she’ll have no problem sharing them next page update. π
Tag team battles? Awwwwwwww yeah. π
TWICE THE FUN.
Finally! A Wrestling Executive who appears on camera and isn’t trying to screw the entire roster over! It’s such a novel idea, I love it! And she’s got a point. Each of the Upstarts have a lot to learn. Brina has to figure out how to think first, act second. Krystin and Sun both have their own attitude problems to work out, and as for Brooke… well, she’d better hope the new Upstarts’ apartment comes complete with a sparring area
I think in the next update, I’m want to show some past examples of the levels of Gabrielle’s support. We know she’s been supportive of Sabrina in the past, but after her loss to Kat but before her match with Chloe, she said that she’d give Sabrina all the recover she could get, but didn’t want to hear any excuses. She’s been tough on Brooke and Krystin before too where she dangled continued employment in front of them in hopes of sparking some positive production out of them.
It’s funny you bring up ‘sparring area.’ π
