Chapter: Chapter 5 - Best Friends Forever
Location: Angel Dome backstage
Hmmm, Sabrina’s on the phone. I wonder what she and Sun will talk about.
Voting Incentive!
Vote to get a sneak peek of Friday’s update!
Guess Sun and Brandy threw some hands at each other after the match. You just know she’s going to get all girly giggly once she’s on the phone though.
Big man hands and tiny Sun hands. Sounds good to me.
Four hands always sound good to you, Snowy.
Yes to the first part, maybe to the second part. 😉
Time for some BFF girl-talk. Does Sun have the energy for Brina’s good mood?
Well the way she took the call the answer is yes. She won her match, got some anger isssues out and now for girl talk. All she needs now is chocolate.
Mmmm, chocolate. BFF girl talk coming up.
This speaks to how clever Yvonne is with managing her team. Early efforts to pull Sun out of Sabrina’s orbit proved unsuccessful, so the options for she and Damage Inc were to cut Sun loose, continue to try to drive a wedge between them and hope it didn’t backfire, or the path taken: Tolerate the friendship, allow Sun her head in this, and meanwhile gain a useful ally, albeit one with potential for conflicting loyalties in the future.
They need to keep Sun since she is a strong fighter.
Sabrina is out of the picture for now so no problems.
Yvonne did try and recruit Sabrina during their encounter at Club Hell, but Sabrina was more upset with Sun being hazed to hear her out. And to paraphrase Snowy, out of sight-out of mind…until the phone calls happen. XD
Are they gonna talk about their monthly visits from their Aunt Flo?
I heard that what the women folk talk about amongst themselves.
Smacks you on the back of the head, “Bad Boy.”
I hope you feel like a jock after that comment and itch.
LOL, you need to get out more.
That is not the demeanour of a girl who wants to take this call. I have seen this look.
I think that look was for her teammates. Notice she is leaving the room.
What Snowy said. (I try not to say or think that phrase all too often.)
Yvonne’s not trying to break up SunBrina anymore, but that doesn’t mean she and the other Damagers won’t rib her about it.
Yeah, Sun has a reputation to protect. lol I mean, it wouldn’t do to break the casual persona she’s putting out there.
Here’s hoping that Sun is truly willing to take the call at this moment. 🙁
Still, I hope that their “best friend” status is still strong after all that happen between them. 🙁
I’m sure it is. But it may be tested in a minute; people coming off breakups typically don’t react well to hearing other people talk about how amazing their love life is.
With these two, anything is possible.
Of course Albone could throw a wrench into everything and Sabrina finds out that her guy is Sun’s secret lover.
Or possibly that Sun’s guy was cheating on her with Sabrina’s guy?
When I first laid eyes on panel #1, I thought for a minute that Sun had given in to peer pressure and gone blonde in between comics.
Then I saw it was a towel and felt silly. 😳
Hope she doesn’t ever dye her hair, though; it’s perfect as is, IMHO.
I had pretty much the same thought but slightly different. I was wondering if Albone made a coloring mistake. Though if we go back one page we can see Sun holding the towel. Nice trick Albone
🙂
I’m glad you like Sun’s hair color the way it is! I tried to change it once and readers DID NOT LIKE it, so I changed it back post hate. The only time her hair was different was during her chapter. (Chapter 10, Sun Rising-Season 1)
Well last Monday I noticed several people indicated they wanted to send Brenda well wishes. If you send them to me I will forward them to her and give you an replies she might have for you. Send them to me: snow_kitten2u@yahoo.com
PS Brenda has a positive outlook all things considered.
Thanks Snowy!! If it’s okay, I’ll post that bit of info on the forum, in the thread about Brenda.
If Sun’s expression here and in the preview pic are any indication, I’m not sure that this is going to be a pleasant conversation. Sun’s in a downright surly mood and it would be no surprise at all to see her snap at Sabrina.
And Yvonne is being as cunning as usual, methinks. Right now, Sabrina’s a wild card to her. She still counts her as a possible asset — note how she’s had Sabrina under ‘protection’ in the last chapter — and would not be adverse to luring her into the group. On the other hand, she certainly would be willing to encourage a split given Sun’s mood if it means cementing Sun’s allegiance to her group. Even there it’s unlikely to be an ultimatum or anything other than an ‘idle’ comment to plant an idea in Sun’s head. She’s smart enough not to get locked into one scenario when she has multiple options.
Sun and Sabrina are like any good siblings…they can fight and hug at the drop of a hat. Which will we get?
Yvonne always thinks of the big picture and would you be surprised that she’s got a 3-year plan? XD I think a telling thing about Yvonne is when she said, ‘I never underestimate the power of loyalty, especially when it’s not paid for.’
Oh Sun, trying to play it cool. Those Damage ladies see right through you. Ditch ’em and bring back your green duds!
🙂 Well said.
Of course Brandy has big man hands. You need big hands to handle the steers on the farm
And she makes no apologies for them. They’re also good for coralling little dragons. XD
Whelp going by that sneak peek it appears…appears that Sabrina is going to piss Sun off with her once more lording her hand given success onto Sun.
Yep, EPIC fight coming up next update.
On the voting incentive, it looks like Sun’s chin, hair, and arm are blending into the panel below it. Hey…a Neal Adams effect…
It’s because they’re the same person…in two different continents…! Maybe not. XD
And if you get the joke, you’re probably as old as I am!
Neal Adams is still around…he just did a Batman story and an X-men story with Christos Gage. 😛
*Cue Back in Black by AC/DC * I’m back.
I didn’t stop reading because I didn’t like where the story was going. I stopped reading because I wanted the story to progress. You would not believe how much of a hassle it seems to be to check in on your favorite webcomics when you’re an hour off work and still unwinding when the next page goes up and there’s three other things want to do or are doing online at the exact same time. It’s murder sometimes, but not as much as making sure said pages get up on time, though, eh? No, I don’t suppose so.
Anywho, where to begin? Sabrina pulled it out over Bitsy and earned her respect at the same time. Not bad, rookie. She’s still got a lot of learning to do, though, so the next time somebody gives her a plan, she better follow it to the letter. And she and Yoshi finally got together. This is good. This pleases me. The entire time they were together before that point, I actually said at least once per page, “Just kiss, already!” Ah, but poor Sun. Where one relationship begins, another ends. And yet, she’s not so disstraught by what ever it was that happened that she can come back and win a match. This is also good.
I can’t promise I’ll comment on almost every page like I used to, nor am I certain of any new OCs or fics or whatall, but I’m still here.
Welcome back, my friend, welcome back. Glad you’re caught up and and back for a while. I know hard it can be sometimes to string time together to do the things you want to do. Glad Rival Angels is one of them!
Read some of the pages: this comic is absolutely brilliant! Have a lot of catching up to do and will start at page 1. Further comments will sure follow… Keep up the good work!
