Chapter: Chapter 6 - Rules of Engagement
Characters: Loretta Diaz, Sabrina Mancini
Location: Angel Dome arena
That’s a bummer for Sabrina. She thought she could get away with a breather but not only did Loretta get her wind back, she also targeted that injured elbow of Sabrina’s and Loretta’s NOT going to give Sabrina a chance to recover.
As we saw Sabrina hit Loretta with move after move with success, we see Loretta using her gameplan of finding a weak spot and focusing her attention on it. Loretta’s back on track and looking to put a hurting on Sabrina.
Well, I’ve been waiting for the turnaround. We’ve been warned enough about the risks Sabrina was taking. I’d still like Sabrina to win, but this makes for a more interesting match. Sabrina may not be able to do a lot of high-flying moves because of that arm; not just using it, but also worry about further injury. Hopefully, she knows enough other moves that she can win the match.

Loretta recovered… so I guess Sabrina took longer as I expected in relaxing and chat with Jeff and Dawn.. coz I never thought Loretta could recover it easily..
I think on Panel 1.1, pulled Loretta up and then, rolled up Loretta to the ring.. that’s why Loretta recovered.. coz only Sabrina used effort in pulling up Loretta, and rolling her into the ring, while Loretta just recovering with 0 effort on her..
Panel 1.2, Loretta kick on the mid-area on Sabrina.. Loretta used her advantage position and kick Sabrina. and I notice here Sabrina kinda bit slowly going to the ring. Sabrina’s right leg is still outside the ring.
Panel 2: Loretta spear tuckle!!! Cool!!
I really like panel 4 and panel 5: “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini in pain… 😀
I kinda think Sabrina revealed her injuried arm on panel 2, after the Loretta spear tackle Sabrina.. maybe Sabrina holds her arm, then Loretta noticed it that Sabrina’s arm is hurt, now capitalizing it..
Panel 7, I would suggest Loretta won’t help Sabrina up.. Loretta will give Sabrina that Kick to the face (Randy Orton Style) so that Sabrina will be knockout, and then Loretta will set up the pedigree (Diaz Drop)..
Why put more pain in Sabrina’s arm? Sabrina’s finishing moves isn’t a F.U., powerbomb in which it required strenght from the arms. Sabrina’s finisher is “Ultrasplash” in which it uses her leg for balance.. could it be Sabrina sacrifice her arm to lure Loretta on hurting it, coz Sabrina knows Loretta can make a mistake in which she can finish Loretta off? or Sabrina prevent Loretta to target her head area coz of the pedigree? usually wrestler target a specific area in which their finisher will do devastating on.. Like Ric Flair uses chopblock to the knee then usually kicking the knee area so when the figure four leglock applied surely taps out. here Loretta’s finisher a pedigree, in which taget the head area? why damage the arm?
or maybe I think, Hell’s Belle told Loretta to damage Sabrina’s arm? making it permanent damage. is like that arm will heal for around a month or two..
if Sabrina is fighting Xtina Carpenter, and then it came to that situation, surely we see Sabrina taps out.. if fought a technical wrestler who is a master in locks.. surely Sabrina will tap out.. maybe Sabrina screams “Stop please… I quit!!I quit!!” 😀 yahahhaha…
Tips for Loretta..
Take off Sabrina’s elbow pad and then put her on the ropes like on panel 6.. then put more pressure on it.
kick Sabrina on the head.. like Randy Orton does..
I’ll have to add something.. this situation for Sabrina is unaviodable.. if Sabrina didn’t took a time off on episode 103. it will be worst..
Let’s say, Sabrina continue attacking Loretta.. Loretta might push Sabrina into the steelpost and let’s say Sabrina arm hit the steelpost first. Steel versus flesh, steel wins… it will be worst for Sabrina..
why did Sabrina help Loretta get up? panel 1.1
Sabrina should got into the ring first, so she could have a advantage when Loretta went in.. Sabrina will do what Loretta did here.. maybe Sabrina will give Loretta an Ultrakick, then Loretta went off falling to the announcer table..
Let’s say, Sabrina taps out here.. Brooke might said to Sabrina. Brooke say “Your not Ultragirl, after all.. You tap out”
maybe a request… More Sabrina in pain..
I could say, in some part.. it’s Sabrina’s fault.. Sabrina like to show off, going to fans in some sort.. she could stay inside the ring and dominate Loretta.. she really got Loretta, and now a tide has turn.. compare Sabrina to Sun..Sun did damage really fast damage inside the ring and no going to fans, and made a quick finish.. Sabrina should that..
Woah! That went quick!
A little too quick, perhaps. I think Loretta could’ve done a lot better than that simple kick as Sabrina entered the ring. For example, she could have played possum for a while longer, let Sabrina put her into position for another heavy hitting move and then dodge out of that, sending Sabrina into the mat with the force of her own attack!
In that last panel Loretta might be inflicting a lot of pain on Sabrina, but her position isn’t all that safe. My prediction for Ultragirl’s next move: High knee into Loretta’s stomach, possibly repeated until Loretta has to release the hold, followed by an Ultrakick. After that, Ultragirl should be able to end this match rather soon.
Based on the amount of damage Loretta has already suffered, I don’t think this kick will be enough to qualify as a true tide turner. It’s merely a temporary setback to Sabrina’s game.
Last Panel… with that background.. nice background by the way.. I think, it’s kinda bad news for Sabrina. could it be that background indicates that Sabrina’s left arm is dislocated? looking on that image I think Sabrina is feeling the cramp or something, or maybe worst.. crrrrrkkkk!!! elbow joint dislocated? it’s just a guess..
A. Mouse, Sabrina has been a bit of a gambler with those high risk moves and hopefully some of the training that Marina provided will help her recover. Loretta seems bound and determined to work that arm over to a point that leaves Sabrina defenseless and open for a coup de grace. I’m glad you’re enjoying the match and hopefully Sabrina can make you proud.
Glad you enjoyed the page MGC. If Loretta has her way, she’s going to do some real damage to that arm of Sabrina’s, but the question is, will Sabrina be able to fight back? Loretta is working on the arm because its already injured. That’s not to say that she won’t pick on another body part, but she’s taking the opportunity of Sabrina’s injury. I would say you can’t really compare Sun and Sabrina’s matches because Loretta is a better wrestler than Sara Valentine so the comparison isn’t really level. Glad you liked the last panel too, I think it conveyed more with the effects than Sabrina crying out in pain. No dislocations yet.
JackAce, Loretta could’ve strung it out a little bit but she’s upset that she was being dominated by Sabrina and took the open shot of Sabrina entering the ring. It was as much desperation as anything. I like your thinking for a Sabrina-counterattack, or rather, Sabrina does. Sabrina would love to win this match and put the ghost of her past losses to Loretta behind her.
Reading the other comments illustrates the events in a complementary fashion. MGC is putting much thought into his interpretation of goings on. It’s almost like reading an annontated edition; the other poster’s knowledge of wrestling is helping me understand the implications in each episode.
Sabrina’s turn at overconfidence and showing off is biting her in the left elbow… she’s back to “Act, don’t think” time.
The right thing for Sabrina to do was to climb back in the ring herself and wait for Loretta, Miz Diaz would have been vulnerable then. A missed opportunity that seemed unneccesary just a moment ago.
Sabrina’s one chance is to break that hold and hit back. Fast.
Panel seven: the rays emanating from Sabrina’s elbow focuses her pain’s intensity… you get a sense of desperation. You know that elbow hurts *Bad*. It’s as if Sabrina’s world has shrunk, there is no ring, no referee, no stadium, no outside world, just the overwhelming totality of her elbow.
This is another episode with little jumps in time, here we see what Loretta is doing to Sabrina and not using up panel space with the in- betweens. I think this ep illustrates the match the way a spectator would recall it, people tend to remember action and not the setup to it.
Remember Action Hair? Its baaaaack…….
Panel two: Loretta has Dynamic Purpose hair while Sabrina has Flailing Unbalanced hair, which adds to her look of surprise. This panel once again demonstrates Alan’s skill with economy of drawing; there is a lot being conveyed in a simple image.
How is Sabrina going to get out of this? I’m tuning in to future eps to find out!
I’m not surprised at the arm attack. Loretta seems to be more of a power type than a speed sort so finding an injury and working it over with basic moves is not a surprise at all. To show my age, it’s a tradition the Minnesota Wrecking Crew made famous. Especially when it’s the left arm. It’s got nothing to do with Sabrina’s finisher, it’s pure damage to get an advantage. I can see some hammerlock bodyslams and driving her arm and shoulder first into the turnbuckles to go with the arm bar and such. Time for Sabrina to show the determination of the very first strip once again.
To quote: She’s been stomping my face in most of this match…
…until now.
Sabrina, like most aerial wrestlers, has amazing reserves of energy and can recover in a heartbeat. It’s going to be painful until she does, but it should be properly flashy when she manages to escape. Something like getting whipped into the corner and turning it into a Whisper in the Wind, or maybe rolling through a backdrop and then hitting a Pele al la AJ Styles. She’s probably going to have to win this with kicks, but I think she can do that if she gets a breather.
I agree with Roller Derby Fan; I don’t know much about wrestling, so others comments help me know what’s going on. I look forward to reading M.G.C.’s ‘annotated edition’ (as RDF puts it), because it invariably shows me something I missed. I can’t think of anybody here who’s comments aren’t interesting; it’s a good crowd.

RDF, the other posters comments and feedback add to the overall fun and appeal of Rival Angels, not to mention helpful in things that might have been missed. You yourself are very good at spotting little details. How indeed, will Sabrina get out of this? Will she? One thing I can say for Sabrina is that she’s got a lot of determination so she won’t be giving up. I’m thrilled that I hit it home with the last panel. I purposefully didn’t have Sabrina make any audible discomfort, all visual. And hair helps sell the action! I know Sabrina wants to take the advice of hit hard and fast to get out of that hold, we’ll see in the next update if she can. 😉
Ha Salazen! The Minnesota Wrecking Crew were awesome, Ole and Arn seemed like such bad asses when I was a kid. Hammerlock bodyslam… brilliant. You got Sabrina’s aerial prowess pegged correctly, its just a question of whether she’ll get another chance to demonstrate it. Good point though, quoting page 1 and the determination of Sabrina to bring her through this, as well as the fans spurring her on. A fight to the finish is what we’re going to get here. Some great ideas for counters too and we’ll see if Sabrina can get any of them in.
A Mouse, this is a fun little group, eh? I’m thrilled that you enjoy yourself here and a part of the group yourself.
