Chapter: Chapter 6 - Rules of Engagement
Characters: Loretta Diaz, Sabrina Mancini
Location: Angel Dome arena
Sabrina’s running out of lives, so to speak, as she barely squeaked out of getting nailed with Loretta’s finisher, The Pedigree. Loretta’s cockiness backfired, reminding Sabrina of her loss to this particular move motivated Sabrina to action.
Also, we see Loretta’s confidence shaken moving from confident mega bitch to panicy. The ‘Die’ talk is Loretta at her meanest. She’s stunned for the moment, but she’s sure to shake it off. Fast. Can Sabrina put it together or is Loretta going to show why she’s beaten Sabrina three times before?
Voting incentive of Sabrina by the lovely and talented Shawnti Therrien!
Panel 1: I think “The Latina Chick” Loretta Diaz took long time in finishing Sabrina, in which Sabrina realizes. it’s really Loretta Diaz to blame. compare Triple H and Loretta Diaz, even Triple H don’t take too long just bad mouthing his opponent, he to end it fast, even trying end it fast, lot of times get this counter..
If “The Latina Chick” Loretta Diaz quickly finished Sabrina off, I mean without badmouthing Sabrina, surely 1..2..3.. or maybe not, 1….2…. then another kickout..
“The Latina Chick” Loretta Diaz said “My World?” is Loretta thinking, she’s going to make “The Age of Diaz” it won’t happen. surely the Hell’s Belle will destroy her for that.. XD
I think Loretta made a bad decision there.. Loretta must spinebuster Sabrina first then quickly finish Sabrina off with “Diaz Drop (Pedigree)”
Panel 3:this is the first time I heard Loretta shouted “no!” I think it’s better Loretta shouted “No Mas, Sabrina. No Mas” (No more Sabrina, No more,) More Latina like.. one more thing, Loretta Diaz didn’t say “please no”
Loretta quickly change.. at first, she’s excited to destroy Sabrina.. now in Panel 3 Loretta begging Sabrina “No!!”
Panel 4: Sabrina say “it’s not your world” so whose world? “Ultragirl’s world” BIG words eh? “Ultragirl”
Panel 5: hmmm.. Loretta has flexibility, but not athletism. I don’t know why Loretta don’t Sabrina’s counter to make her own momentum. I mean like Loretta quickly jumps on the top turnbuckle, kinda like Shelton Benjamin did.
Panel 6: Priceless image of “Latina Chick” Loretta Diaz…
“The Latina Chick” Loretta Diaz’s world just shake.
Could it the “Ultrakick” is coming… Damned Sabrina!, I kept saying “Ultrakick” since Episode 99. until now no freakin “Ultrakick”
Let’s say “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini won’t go for the “Ultrakick” yet, she’ go more showboating. surely she’ get more injuries ahead..what next her neck.
I really have to applause “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini and “The Latina Chick” Loretta Diaz for this exciting match.. those two deserve a huge applause.. even for “The Latina Chick” Loretta Diaz..
💡
I can’t really get why Sabrina really want to win, but not taking a serious advantage.. Sabrina can just move four steps backward then did that move on Panel 4. So the “Latina Chick” Loretta Diaz will hit the steel post rather than the turnbuckle pad. Tsk Tsk tsk.. Sabrina just Tsk Tsk Tsk..
Just don’t do a schoolboy pin or roll up, Sabrina.. if Sabrina wants to win.. Finish her off with an Ultrakick then the Ultrasplash…
FINISHER HER !!!
All right! Finally, a turnaround…and I’m glad Loretta got paid back for her arrogance.
BOOOOO! Not another comeback by Ultragirl .. eesh!
Although its Loretta’s fault for not finishig her early i really hope this doesnt turn into Ultragirl always winning.
Shes a bit like Hulk Hogan in the 80’s, as soon as he does that recovery sequence you know hes gonna win, its disappointing 🙁 So far (as i recall) we havent seen her lose in an actual match (just through backstory). didnt she even win the batle royal from out of nowhere?
Maybe we need to see her lose.. even the greatest wrestlers lost matches 🙂 Otherwise you could change the comic name to “Supergirl” 😀
Jawoll !!!
This is pretty close to what I foretold three pages ago.
Loretta’s pretty shaken after that impact. And’s it’s taking way too long to get her act together. This is the typical situation where a wrestler will turn around just in time to see her opponent’s foot rusheing towards her face.
And if that foot is performing an Ultrakick, in the condition Loretta’s already in, I gotta say that must be lights-out for the Latino Chick.
@Matt

I agree with you, all the way Matt, thanks for the Booo! and I hope “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini can hear that so she’ll realize that there’s are people that who cheer for her 👿
“Supergirl” Kara Zor El almost die on the hands of Lex Luthor, “Supergirl V5 3#” that’s the first time you’ll heard “Supergirl” Kara Zor El, begged Lex Luhor to stop the krystonite blast.. XD
Let’s get back to Sabrina.. don’t worry Matt, we’ll see “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini loss next time.. when “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini will be facing “Red Jen” Jennifer Needles.. 👿
for worst… “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini will face Katherine Smith in the finals.. 👿 surely we’ll see Sabrina.. INJURED!!! HAHAHAHAH…HAHAHHA 👿
👿
I’m thinking the reason Sabrina didn’t try to hit her into the ringpost is the same reason she hasn’t done a number of things — she’s a pure babyface, and there are some things she just won’t do on purpose. In this day and age, it’s hard to find true babyfaces due to the fact that ‘cheating’ isn’t really the domain of the heels any more.
@ Matt and MGC:
Yes, even the greatest wrestlers have lost matches in their carreer. But there’s also a great tradition of talented rookies who remained undefeated for impressive periods of time.
I’m sure we’ll get to see Sabrina loose a match eventually, but remember that this is only her third match in the Rival Angels league.
MCG: Yes! Im glad someoen else wants to see Ultragirl lose 😀 Its funny you mention Lex Luther, maybe we need Lexi Luther to come to Rival Angels and drop the “Kyrptonite Krash” on Ultragirl 🙂 (i have no idea what that is right now but think of some 190 ibs Amazing Kong type amazon with a big splash or powerslam move)
Jackace: Yeah i appriciate this is Ultragirls third match, shes just straying towards invincibility, i wouldnt mind if she was some Undertaker or Great Khali type charcter, you know.. either supernatral or just plain huge but shes only a 120ibs blonde good girl.
Sure, wrestling is staged, but this is a bit too staged 🙂 *pulls on his “Ultragirl sucks” T shirt
Stay tuned Darkmark! Loretta is losing the advantage here, and we’ll see if Sabrina can get it back.
Right on JackAce! You had some good observations during this match which is why I have to be vague in my responses. 😛 And right you are about Sabrina and her win/loss and this being her third match.
Adon, on the money! And really, its sort of a picky thing, when you’re getting your ass beat, a desperation counter doesn’t really doesn’t allow for calculated responses, at least for rookies.
MGC, I’m glad you liked the page, at least I assume you did from your first post. Great observations and comments. The slingshot-into-the-ringpost is a tad picky, I think. Sabrina’s trying anything that’ll work so she doesn’t have the benefit of that sort of measured response. Maybe in the future, as she gets some more experience.
Matt and MGC:
SUPERGIRL! SUPERGIRL! Now, you’re getting it! Seriously though you guys are a tad off target. A slingshot isn’t anyone’s recovery sequence, let alone Sabrina’s. Hulk Hogan is a poor comparison; He’s the most iconic wrestler in the history of professional wrestling and HIS recovery sequence with the Hulking up and people shouting YOU is to this day, criminally popular. This is Sabrina’s third match in Rival Angels, and she only has one pinfall win. She’s never won a battle royal, or ever been in one. Matt, I’m a little surprised that you would use the ‘super’ word considering the company we’ve rolled with in the past. At best, its antagonistic, at least in *that* context and I don’t believe that you are trying to be antagonistic. I don’t want to antagonize either of you, but I do think I know your gripe with Sabrina and say that if I am right, there are sites dedicated to heroine destruction that will do a much better job than I ever could. I mean, its what they do. And I really hope that you guys keep reading and commenting on Rival Angels, 😀 whether or not Sabrina gets beat, injured, maimed, sawed in half, or yes, win. And if that means booing Sabrina and cheering her opponents, the comment floor is yours.
“I hope she’s still beautiful”, awesome
Hey easy there Albone 🙂 I wasnt using *super* in the context we’ve been familiar with, it was more a play on Ultragirl and a name change. No offence intended, and im certainly not trying to be antagonistic.
What i meant by the Hulk comparison wasnt the move Sabrina did, just that shes in danger of always finding a recovery move or counter (at least thats one possible way i see her)
I assume shes your fave character and im just pointing out that sometimes, writers and artists tend to not let bad things happen to them, ive done it myself in stories 🙂 I dont expect you to turn her into a jobber, but a loss now and again or a match where she gets squashed wouldnt be a bad idea to see… show shes human after all 🙂
With the battle royal, im thinking of the fatal fourway – my mistake, didnt she drop Brooke with the vertibreaker and win?? No worries if im wrong, i hope its explained my stance a bit better
Of course ill keep reading and commenting, i think the art is great and any refernce to anyone “sucks” is purely joking, a bit like WWE fans chanting “you suck”to Kurt Angle 🙂
BD, I’m glad you liked Jeff’s concern. 😀
Very good Matt. After thinking about a minute, it occurred to me that you were referring to the Fatal Four Way. I think it goes back to what JackAce mentioned and that’s rookies coming in HOT, having good showings for a time and this is her third match, one for a spot in the TV Tournament. If she didn’t give her all here, when would she? But, this match isn’t over so we are getting ahead of ourselves a little bit, as you can see that Loretta’s stunned but not out. And in this match, I’ve counted more comebacks from Loretta than Sabrina. I do appreciate the comments and concerns and I will definitely take them into account.
😀
I knew Sabrina can do it. She can take all the beatings.
Okay, some commentary on other folks comments: First the ‘She needs to lose’ for Ultragirl. We know she’s lost three times to Loretta already. This is traditional face material we’re seeing right now. The face loses and loses and finally, when it’s a big match, like the chance to be in this tourney for Ultragirl, the face pulls it out. This is just good, old fashioned, wrestling storyline.
Second, even in the first match we see her in, back in the first few panels, Sabrina admits to losing matches because of Danielle Perfection, and being 2-2 against her. That’s a minimum of 7 losses we know of. 3 to Dumpy Diaz. 2 to Danielle, and at least 2 because of Danielle or it wouldn’t have been ‘costing me a few of them’ it would have been ‘costing me one’. We know she’s won even less than we know she’s lost if you look back at the details. I assume she’s won more than he ones we know about though, otherwise she wouldn’t have been brought up.
Also, unbeaten storylines are hugely popular too. Look at Goldberg. Look at Tatanka before him. As long as they kept their winning streaks alive, they were huge. They both faded away when their unbeaten streaks ended. I don’t see Sabrina needing an unbeaten streak to be popular though. She’s got the fan support without it.
Now, that said, on to the Rocket Launcher counter. MGC: you asked why Loretta didn’t just hop onto the turnbuckles… well, there’s a big difference between being whipped into a corner and approaching it face first. A rocket launcher, which is the name for how Sabrina threw Dumpy Diaz into the corner, takes the victim’s feet out from under them. She couldn’t have leaped to the turnbuckles to protect herself if she’d tried.
As for who’s world it is. It’s not Ultragirl’s world. She never said that. Considering Sabrina’s attitude, if she said it was anyone’s world, she’d say it was the fan’s world. She does it for them, not for herself. Why do I think that? Well… look at Episode 2, where her first thought on hitting the Ultrasplash is the fan reaction and second is Danielle’s. Looks at Episode 3, where she’s all about the ‘roar’ of the crowd, when the crowd is only a dozen people. Most importantly: It means the world to me to perform in front of them. Direct quote.
Now, that I’ve reacted to most of the comments, on to the match itself. Double leg sweep to rocket launcher. Great counter for a Pedigree. As I said long ago, if she’d done it right after the miss, it was over. Waiting cost Last Chance Loretta her last chance. You know… this naming thing is fun. Thanks for getting me started MGC.
If it were a wrestler I’d trained, I’d say this was the perfect place for a modified Hot Shot. Sabrina could jump the top rope while grabbing Loretta’s hair and snap her neck across said rope. Classic flying move with a stronger foe, if the flier is willing to play a touch dirty. Unfortunately, that’s a bit too dirty for Ultragirl I’d think. She’s not just a face, she seems to be a babyface. If this were a real match, this would be where the armdrag to running clotheslines to flying moves would begin for Sabrina. In an inked format, with less room for that type action…. hmm…
Considering the format and that Sabrina is obviously trying to go for new things that Loretta won’t know as well, how about a Springboard Bulldog or DDT. Loretta is near the ropes so a leap to the second rope and bouncing off to grab her and slam her down would be perfect, and it would be a good setup for the Ultrasplash and Sabrina’s first totally earned on her own win in the big leagues.
Even she lost I still support and like her as I do with real life wrestler. But I believe she win.
I agree with you Adam B. She reminds me of Michelle McCool, as I said before. And, while I don’t think she should have won the title, she seems to improve every match I see her in. I’d love to see her use her Angels Wings move more often, whatever she calls it.
You know… that wouldn’t be a half bad way for Sabrina to finish off Luckless Loretta finally. It could be called the Ultraslam. Not terribly creative a name, but does it always have to be?
As I said earlier, this situation is just waiting for an Ultrakick to strike as soon as Loretta turns around…
However, Loretta knows this too, and she’s probably expecting it! Thus Sabrina should really try something else.
Hmm… If Sabrina reacts fast enough (i.e. before Loretta turns around) this could be a nice setup for a Stratusfaction!
Interesting episode in that the drama is mostly in Sabrina’s emotions and the flash of decision where she breaks the hold and wallops Loretta… panel two is especially depictive of this. This panel is masterfully well composed, every element in it draws the viewer’s attention to Sabrina’s eyes and by extension her expression. Very good example of ‘show, don’t tell’.
The implied motion between panels three and four flows well, we can imagine Sabrina rolls onto her back and her momentum propels Loretta through the rest of the roll. Loretta’s look of shocked surprise is well drawn.
Panel six: Good depiction of Loretta’s state of ‘purple funk’. I imagine her degree of shaken- ness is measured by how dark and stormy the purple clouds are. She’s not gonna stay dazed, though…
Sabrina and readin this comics, it’s making me think about my favourite wrestler, Sarah Stock and Daizee Haze. and Trpsh Stratus.
I have to admit, the more I think about it, the more I’d LOVE to see Angel’s Wings used to finish Diaz off. It woudl really make a heck of a comic. Sabrina set her up. Announcers go on about how she’s going to use Diaz’s move against her and then BAM lift, turn and slam. Crowd goes nuts as Sabrina goes for the BME… er… the Ultrasplash. 😉 And that’s all she wrote for ‘Let Down’ Loretta Diaz.
Goldberg..I have to agree, no question. WCW got great storyline for undefeated like him. Brock Lesnar got undefeated streak too in WWE. and now presently WWE(Smackdown) Vladimir Kozlov.. worthy undefeated.. I really like to consider Brooke, but unfortunately her attitude, tsk tsk… Brooke got strenght, power, but now fury, no toughness, no rage, shssshh!
but “Ultragirl” Sabrina Manicni, I say just got lucky on those past 2 matches. and this match “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini VS “Latina Chick” Loretta Diaz is pure revenge. Tasteful revenge for Sabrina.
👿
Compare “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini to Goldberg..
1.Goldberg had Power, Fury, Toughness, RAGE, killer instinct..(Roar!!), he don’t mind the crowd cheer for him, he just went to the ring destroy his opponent, while “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini, depends on the crowd.. Sabrina don’t have power, fury, killer instinct and rage, no (roar)
2. Goldberg and “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini.. two different scenarios.. Rival Angels, don’t have N.W.O. or a very huge uncontrollable stable, in which they don’t need a Heroine. and considering Brenda Rua is the champion,
while in the other hand, WCW have N.W.O. who dominated WCW, in which they needed a hero, Goldberg.
Thanks Adam B! You can bet that Sabrina will give her best to try not to let you down. 😉 I absolutely love Sarah Stock and Daizee Haze, they are both incredible high flyers, though Sara superceeds traditional high flying.
Great comments and observations Salazen! Great points in comparison to the Ultra/Super Girl debate and explained very well. I’m honored your so well versed in the Rival Angels backstory and great work figuring out how many times Sabrina’s probably lost. Let’s just say, she fought A LOT in developmental and its something that I do want to visit in the future. Calling for the Hot Shot! That was Eddie Gilbert’s move wasn’t it? That guy was cool, especially in the UWF with Rick Steiner and Sting. And the Angels Wings….is that a double arm tiger driver? That’s a crazy cool move. The other moves you suggested are cool too… really anything springboard or flying is in tune for Sabrina (or Sun for that matter). Man, these nicknames for Loretta are hilarious! Dumpy is my favorite, but Let Down almost had me spit out my drink. 😛 I don’t know if I mentioned this but I’ve always been a fan of McCool from when I first saw her wrestle against a very strong heel Melina. McCool just seemed to have a ton of energy in that match and she’s been getting better and better each match. Oh yeah, and the name for a finisher doesn’t always have to be creative. 😛
JackAce, a Trish fan, eh? Seems to be a few fans of the Toronto native here. I think she’s THE example of someone with no training becoming the epitome of what hard work can produce. She was the champ, a great worker and could work the mic. Calling for the Ultrakick? It’s true that Loretta and Sabrina know each other pretty well now, so it’d be expected. The wild card here is that both of them are spent, so I think raw ability is going to win out over any measured response. Or so is the theory….
RDF, always complimentary! Thank you. I’m glad that you liked the page, and I’m actually thrilled with how well panel 2 came out because its such a weird angle. You are right on about Loretta’s mental state mirroring the chaotic backdrop of panel 6. And you’re 100% right….Loretta won’t stay in that state for very long.
MGC, you’re #2 point is solid, though I would like to introduce you to The Hell’s Belles. Admittedly, we’ve yet to see them in action, but it’s coming shortly. The difference I’d say between Kozlov, Lesnar and Goldberg is that Goldberg never sold any moves. He just kind of shook his head, unless the entire nWo swarmed him. In comparison, Sabrina’s taken a beating in all of her matches. And as for rage or fury in Sabrina, well…. that’s not her personality, BUT that’s not to say that those aspects won’t creep out (like incredibly soon), she is only human. Brooke’s not much of a rage girl either, but time will tell out on that.
I was using Goldberg as an example of an undefeated streak more than a Sabrina comparison. If I was going to make a direct Sabrina comparison to someone with an unbeaten streak, I’d make it to Tatanka. He had some power, but he wasn’t the giant that WWF, in those days, usually pushed. He used speed and finesse more than raw power to win matches. He could hit his finisher suddenly and get quick pins. He’s closer to how Sabrina would do an unbeaten streak, unfortunately she can’t do it even if she wanted to because people know Loretta has beaten her before.
And yeah, the Hot Shot was Eddie Gilbert’s move. As for Angel Wings, Michelle McCool calls it Wings of Love or something like that. Christopher Daniels did the Angel’s Wings under that name and it’s all over YouTube if you want to see him do it. It starts like a pedigree, but then he lifts the vic, turns 180 and slams him down. Really awesome. Almost better than a Canadian Destroyer. And it often led to a BME, hence the joke about it in the earlier post. 😉 BME=Best Moonsault Ever. It earned the name too. Second rope springboard to the top directly into the moonsault. It was beautiful.
As for the nWo storyline in WCW, Sting was a better hero than Goldberg. All Goldberg was was a over the top power wrestler. No personality.
Tatanka, undefeated streak, good though.. just bad memories.. when I started watch wrestling, the first wrestler I saw on T.V. was Tatanka and his opponent Bam Bam Bigelow. I really cheer Tatanka that time, until he loss to Ludvig Borga, coz of Tatanka injured ribs.. Great comparison, I have to admit.
Comparison Tatanka and “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini
1.Tatanka loss to Ludvig Borga co of injured ribs, now “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini had injured ribs, could it be “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini smae fate as Tatanka. 👿 👿
2. the audience cheer Tatanka, in which gave him energy, in which he became invincible in some point 😀
“Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini, when the audience cheer her she’ll do great counter moves and execute awesome high flying moves.
3. Tatanka sold out to the “Million Dollar Man” Ted Di Biase, I don’t think “Ultragirl” Sabrina Manicni will sold out.
4. Tatanka isn’t a high flyer, like “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini.
Remembering Sting and the n.W.o. I kinda remember Sting join the n.W.o. that’ the time W.C.W pure chaos. speaking of over the top power wrestler, with no personality. I think that attitude is worthy for being Undefeated. in which “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini doesn’t have that attitude.
there’s one wrestler I wounld think, comparing winning streak to “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini.
Compare Mrrrr…Kennedy…..Kennedy… to “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini
1. Mr. Kennedy, is cocky, arrogant, loud mouth XD while “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini, cocky and arrogant not a loud mouth, but a fan and audience friendly.
2. Mr. Kennedy, slapped Tony Chimmel, while “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini made Jeff Crew blush. different people different scenarios
3. Mr. Kennedy has a entertaining gimmick, while “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini has her “Ultragirl” gimmick in which :((
If “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini, came in to the ring grabs a microphone. and says “I weightin tonight at 135 pounds, I hail from Indianapolis, IN…. “Ultragirl” Sabrinaaaaaaa Mancini…..Mancini……” XD
or this, “Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini came to the ring grabs a microphone and says “Finally, “Ultragirl” has comeback to Chi ca go…. Dumpy Diaz, bring your roody poo candy ***, here. coz Ultragirl gonna turn your Dumpy booty side ways and stick it straight up, your candy *** ” XD
LOL!
SUrely I cheer for Sabrina.. XD
