Page 216 – Lil Dragon

This was a fun page to draw. Probably one of the most dramatic pages in Rival Angels. After some consideration, Sun accepts the ring name given to her by the people of Japan. She begins to understand how important ring presence is. She also has a difficult time talking to her Mom. With multiple times in this story, we’ve seen people around Sun encourage her to call her Mom. Still some tension between the Wong girls and its going to be hard working through that over the phone. For now, it’s going to have to be enough.

OK, it still seems a bit choppy at times because of the transitions, but I liked this page. More of Sun’s origin is always good. But at this rate, the next page is going to show her as an old lady. Kudos. 😉

Riitoru Doragon… Nice one!! Love how the script in this episode.. using the word Riitoru Doragon.
Panel 1: using the word ‘Xiao Long’ is Chinese Mandarin. while the word ‘Ritoru Doragon’ is Japanese Katakana.. it’s nice when they call Sun.. Chibi-Ryu, still the same though.. ‘Little Dragon’..
Here’s a question though..
Akira said “Xiao Long” that’s Mandarin, ah? and Akira is Japanese. ah? How come? ah? help?
Sun is in Japan, wrestling.. ah? how come she couldn’t speak or learn few.. like the basic greeting or words .. “Hajimemaste!” or “Ohayo Gozaimas” or maybe “Itarashaii” “Itadakimasu!” ?
I think, the term Lil’ Dragon.. used Lil’ coz she like hip hop.. I just think..

Panel 3: Gimmicks after Gimmick.. I have to agree with Akira.. I remember Paul Birchill came to the WWE as Britisih Gimmick, then turn to Pirate Gimmick, then now with Sister Katie Lea gimmick.. there are some gimmick which doesn’t fit.. I watch the Monday Night War, and The Rock and Stone COld used their own gimmick, like in which they were successful..
Panel 4: using FIn and blow fire, is good entrance though..

How come Sun went for another development territory? it’s like Sun entered, from ‘Cannonball’ Kyle Pallas- Akira Superstar- then Japan to Carolina Championship wrestling in which all development..
Panel 5-6: Sun’s mother is angry.. and hangged the phone.. Sad. Pressure! Pressure!
I hope we can see maybe a exibition match. of Akira though.. I’m curious of her ability, is she a technical wrestler or a high flyer, or maybe strenght? I like to know, curiousity, like to know..
 Riitoru Doragon, i like this one. I wish to see an exibition match with our Lil Dragon, something more than just a couple of panel. Maybe an important match she got  in the CCW, possibility agains a potential nemesis she gonna see or fight later in Rival Angel ?? 🙂
I also hope and wish to see more about Sabrina past, in her developmental league or maybe something more personal ^^.

Nice update! Good thing Brooke wasn’t there – her name would be “stuck-up white girl who thinks the world owes her”. Which translates, in English, to “Brooke”.
I loved this set. It had me smiling and nodding. The facial expressions were very nice. And it’s great to find out how she got her tag.
Now I respectfully have to comment on MGC-san comment. I think the first word she should have learned in Japan was “abunai!!”
I just want to about last episode 215.. Sun won her match, as we seen. Did Sun fought against Akira and won on episode 215.. coz that lady is similar to Akira, though.. hmmm.. could it be? or not? hmmm?

It’s been cool seeing where Sun came from! Sun is one of my favorites, I think. Though I could be totally tainted by the fact that I love her relationship with Ultragirl. 😀
We’ve seen where three of the four girls got their start – are we going to get a Brooke backstory too? To explain why she’s such a nutjob?

Ha ha ps2kid! I watched the entire season of that and there’s no doubt in my mind that the entire thing was scripted. But no, Sun will NOT be heading there.
MGC, consider CCW to be Level 3 in Sun’s training. I see you have a lot of questions about Akira. Think of her as being based on Akira Hokuto. No, Sun definitely did not beat Akira, though that’d make for an interesting story, eh?

Great to have you back, Coyote Lovely, we missed you. 🙂 Sun is one of everyone’s favorites. They can’t help it. And if you like Sun and Sabrina, you’ll what’s coming up next chapter. We will indeed see Brooke’s backstory! It’s possible you might even feel for her. A bit. Maybe.
Speaking about Akira. Albone gave the perfect answer though base on Akira Hokuto, now I know..
but I just hope in Rival ANgels, Akira is a face wrestler.. and people cheer for her.. not like Akira Hokuto in WCW. not being cheered

another good week of comics, as always I love the art, and the story moving along at a good pace, and is very informative. Am glad you guys didn’t forget about Sun’s Mom, I think a good deal of who Sun is as a character comes from that relationship. And Its good to See Akira Suparstar, I can’t wait to learn more about her. Oh and I always wanted to say that it was cool that her ringname is little dragon, I’m a big time fan of Bruce Lee, and its good to see that people remember him. Oh and The fan Service on Monday was great, I really Liked sun Elektra. I didn’t know that Kyle took his name from Cannonball from x-force, am I wrong? Anyway take care and good job.
I love the facial expressions in that one too ^^. Since you started Sun story i appreciate her more than before.
