Oh that’s not good, depending on what you think of Krystin’s intentions. I think we can guess Brooke’s. 😛
LOST Finale!
I just saw the finale yesterday and even though they didn’t answer a bunch of questions, I thought the ending was awesome. I’d also like to say that my faith in Jack was rewarded in spades in the finale.
Voting Incentive!
Sparks and temper are starting to set in! Vote to get a sneak preview of Friday’s update!
Well, being that pro wrestling is a highly competitive world and given how Krystin and Brooke were talking recently, I’m more than willing to bet that no matter what she may say to Sabrina’s face at any point in time past, present, or future, she wants to hurt Sabrina here. And therein is the beginning of a problem with Krystin’s character. I like her until recently, and she is hot, but she’s not giving any real reason that I can remember picking up on for showing such ill-will toward Sabrina. And for another thing, she’s too easily manipulated.
Now, Brooke has genuine reason to show that kind of ill-will toward Sabrina, but Krystin? Either she needs to take a step back and examine some things a bit more closely, or I need to go back and read the entire story over again, because this does not seem to me like something that should be forthcoming from someone who doesn’t seem to have a genuine reason for something like this.
Certainly is true that Sabrina does need some submission moves, though, and that pretty much everybody, real wrestler or character in a wrestling comic, needs to better develop their ground skills. Seriously, if they wanted to fly, they should have gone and become pilots and flight attendants. Not saying that’s not exciting stuff, it is, but the sport is wrestling, not whatever you want to call that kind of thing. That’s just my opinion. I’m sure Rey Mysterio or RVD would disagree vehemently.
I have say one comment here first..
Sabrina wish that she’s better off learning from MMAGirls than Krystin Moline.. but on the other hand.. I love this page.. I could say “Look Sabrina taps.. wildly taps!!” and she taps faster than Xtina did too.. heheh
Panel 3: is priceless..
Panel 4:.. I really really disagree with Brooke. laughing on Sabrina tap out.. Brooke tap out against the Catgirls.. then now she’s laughing coz Sabrina taps..
Panel 5: Krystin is again tricking Sabrina here.. but don’t tap so quickly… Krystin is wants to permanently damage Sabrina.. recall on the spike vertibreaker.
Panel 6: I think Krystin is applying a maximum pressure on Sabrina..
Panel 7: I don’t know.. blackout? or someone rescued Sabrina?
I wonder if Brenda saw the event..hehehe
Brenda and Krystin contrast.
Brenda knows variations of a triangle choke, and made many many great wrestler tap out.. like Chloe, Xtina, Jennifer and Katherine, Snowkitten and Rose Ryoko..
Krystin well…. she’s great, but more exposure.. 😛
I kinda Sabrina must learn, that many angels are hunting her.. and even Loretta Diaz, isn’t done with her..
if Sabrina’s weakness is locking her up… this could means.. Chloe De Sade has a great advantage over Sabrina…
I guess somebody had to laugh at her for tapping out because they remember how much it hurt when my partner and I made them tap out.
Passing out in a practice is not a good thing. As for the escape from that move, there are a few.
For some reason however I don’t think any guy would struggle to much.
I’ve always enjoyed Krystin & Brooke’s dynamic, and this flashback sequence doesn’t disappoint! Though if Krystin *really* wanted to teach Sabrina the move, why isn’t she letting Sabrina try it out on her?
Krystin, you’re being a putz. Stop it. Don’t make us call your mother and put her in the front row of one of your fights. We’ll do it.
Great sequence, boss! I love the “URK!” Kirystin is being mean by telling her not to tap so fast. That hurts! Gotta love it hehee
Tarrasque, it was established two pages ago about Krystin’s resentment/jealously that Sabrina was receiving from Marina and the champ. Krystin’s not looking to seriously hurt her roommate, she’s just being a little bit mean and taking it out on Sabrina. This does actually go back to like, page 9, where Krystin is going over her disdain for Sabrina’s early push. However, more may make sense next update. 😉
Ah MGC, waited a long time for that, did you? XD Brooke is laughing because, well she’s Brooke. But Krystin’s not looking to hurt Sabrina permanently. She would get into quite a bit of trouble with the administration as well as the other wrestlers. Expect some of your questions to be answered on Friday.
Snowy, it is a bit petty of them to laugh, but they recall the shoe being on the other foot. If there is a counter to the gogoplata, Krystin’s not sharing it with Sabrina.
Hey Lora! That is a very good point about Krystin’s instruction methods. It would seem that she’s intent on teaching Sabrina more than just submission holds. Still, it would be great to see Sabrina using Brooke as a sparring dummy. XD
Heh, Amanda, I don’t know if that threat will have as much weight anymore, but you’re right that she should stop being a mean-head.
Champ, I’m glad you’re enjoying the exchange here. I think you may enjoy Friday’s flashback finish as well. 😉
Like I said, if there were any reasons give, I don’t remember it. And even if I do, I don’t judge them as being valid.
i liked Krystin’s advice on the counter. i would think Lora, phase 1 would be to show Brina how effective the move is (and she was kinda explaining it as she locked it in) by putting her in it full force. then afterwards she can show (no doubt using Brooke as her “helper” to take the move while krystin explains it to sabrina :P) sabrina how to apply it. i’m bettin’ the sneak peak is brooke’s objection to that training method 🙂
i can kinda see why Def Tech isn’t on team Brina here. Krystin probably feels that she is the best pure wrestler of the Upstarts but it’s Sabrina (and Sun to a lesser degree) and her high spots that’s getting the big push (in her mind) and the big feuds. I mean brina’s fighting the top heel stable, Sun’s aligned with the next biggest faction while Krystin’s playing openning match with Sara Valentine (though she did kinda start the whole thing with sara). Not exactly how i’m sure Krystin planned things. I think she wants to try and straighten out the pecking order a bit here under the guise of “helping”.
Brooke’s sitting there laughing like she could get out of it. Maybe she can outwrestle Michael but not Krystin.
Krystin is being pretty mean here. Sabrina let her put the move on, so it’s not like she showed any technical prowess by knocking Brina out. Sabrina continues to be the most naive character in the strip.
I know its been a while since ‘ve posted.. I enjoyed the storyline for them being at the club.. it was important to the growth of the story but kinda made me check out from wanting to see our girls wrestle :). Anyway I am always a fan of Albones art but goodness Krystins legs are all over the place wonky in those pannels. The Gogoplata from the rubber guard has one leg the “choking” leg under the victums chin a brace leg hooked and over the shoulder and pulling the head down with the hands. I am fully aware that in Pro Wrestling choke holds aren’t done “correctly” so they don’t actually hurt or knock someone out.. but I imagine your point was Krystin is TRYING to hurt Sabrina.. or at least punk her out. Krystin wouldn’t ever have two feet “behind” Sabrina in the gogoplata. In the first pannel it looks like the choking leg is in sabrina’s arm pit..and you can clearly see sabrina’s neckline and collar (which should be covered by the choking leg).. 2 pannel is kinda close but I feel with presure being applied there is no reason to have illustrated the controling legs foot (since she is appling torc it would probably be lower than visable) and I still feel like the choke foot should be in “front” of sabrina not behind her. Pannel 3 makes me think Krystin is either REALLLLLLY flexable.. made of rubber or has 4 feet and the feet seem like they were added in after the fact.. I had my gf come over and see if I was crazy and she felt they weren’t needed either and way too small. So yea I just felt like… holy cow there are feet EVERYWHERE! (lol) Sorry to be a downer 🙁
jpiv, the advice might be vague but it’s certainly not wrong. You’ve got Krystin’s intentions and feelings down pretty well there. She does think she’s the best wrestling talent in the Upstarts and thinks that she deserves more praise. What better way than showing that at the expense of Sabrina? She’ll have a chance to show what she’s got against Sara in their upcoming match. 😉
Ken, I would bet money that Brooke can outwrestle Michael. Not so much outwrestle Krystin. Good point too about Krystin’s ‘victory’ here. As for Sabrina being naive, it’s fair to say that she wouldn’t expect anything sinister from her roommate. However, you just might have stumbled upon Sabrina’s krytonite. lol
Hey Drew! Thanks for the critique. Honestly, I did goof up that first panel, which I went and fixed. The only thing I can say about the other two panels is that the reference I was using had the girls in bare feet so I needed to add the shoes. Maybe something got lost in the translation (on my end)? Still, thanks very much for pointing it out. I love having ‘editors’ help me make this best comic. As for the story over wrestling, I needed to develop our girls so you know where they’re coming from. You guys deserve a great story to go along with the action! That being said, the PPV is going to be awesome.
I understand where Drew is coming from. That’s often my initial reaction. But then it’s often my initial reaction, as a submission grappler, to pro moves in general. I have to remember that thinking is really outside the curtains and kayfabe though. One has to let go of it and enjoy the show, not the technique itself. The mechanics of the artwork is yet another matter. But it is true that Sabrina and Brooke have two left feet. Meowwww!
The second to last panel is the point where Sabrina wished she would’ve just stuck with hammerlocks and the occasional sleeper hold.
I like this one! Sexy and sadistic, the way women’s wrestling should be. Thanks.
Doesn’t she have her shoulders in the mat while choking her? Wouldn’t the move, in a match, iniatite a three-count?
you are pulling the head down which is pulling your shoulders off the mat.. thats how the pros make it look “good”
Wow, Champ! LOL As a big fan of UFC/MMA, I know what you’re talking about when it comes to incorporating those moves into pro wrestling and I think TNA has done a better job of it then anyone else.
Chris, I think you’re right! Maybe an armbar in there for good measure.
My pleasure, darkmark. 😉
Archie, I’m not sure if you’re kidding or not, but this is for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAkSnpX85Fg
Thanks for the help, Drew!
Just as I though. If you’d lift yourself up and push forward, the one doing the choke would have his shoulders in the mat. Sure, he’d still be choking the shit out of you, but if you can take it for three seconds, you just won yourself a match. I don’t know who the other guy was but I’ve NEVER seen anyone tap out that fast.
Did she black out trying to get out of this move? Perhaps Friday’s page will explain further.
