One’s career in Rival Angels is over, the other one is up in the air, about to go out on a stretcher. The show must go on though, right?
Wednesday Preview!
Head on over to the Facebook Fan Page for a preview of what’s coming up on Wednesday! (and give a LIKE if the mood suits you.)
Whoa!!! Fired?! Wow!! Gabby does have a pair! Guess the battle for the numba’ one contenda’ starts all over.
I said F
I said F I
I said F I R
I said F I R E
I said F I R E D
FIRED!
I think, that’s Gabrielle’s problem.. firing every possible ‘professional heel’ first Blackwidow… as ‘White Queen’ Chloe De Sade’s career is on the air.
and by the way.. if Blackwidow fired? could it be that Bitsy (IRL) told Albone that she don’t like to be in rival angels anymore.. kinda like kay fabe?
Panel 4: this is tricky.. in Panel 3.. Gabrielle said “fired” then quickly on panel 4, the security grabs Blackwidow, it’s like they warp or teleport themselves behind Blackwidow..
MGC, I bet security was already sprinting that way as soon as the boss got caught up in the post-match assault. You don’t want to be the guy who fails to respond quickly enough to protect the boss.
As for firing heels, well, it tends to happen immediately following grievous injury to the wrestlers Gabby’s the most invested in, achieved via assault outside a match. There’s not many worse offenses these people can commit, and the victims are prime assets within the organization. What do you think is going to happen? What do you feel is an appropriate way to keep the organization going when half the staff feels like they should be able to hospitalize anybody at any time without fear of consequences?
This because Albone didn’t show panels 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3
Also you have to remember several people have gotten fired in pro wrestling over the years but for some reason some of the keep popping back up.
Erm… Is Brenda still breathing?
Good point. I looked at each panel and I don’t see any indication she is breathing.
(IMO)
Gabrielle is like ‘Michael Bay’ don’t like heels, or band guys, villain..
I noticed in Michael Bay’s Transformers.. the decepticons are not colored like the autobots, and what’s in part 3? Megatron got killed not only that Decepticons no more.. wtf…
that’s really a no no..
if Gabrielle keeps doing this, the fall of Rival Angels will be..
You confused me with this post.
Go, Gabby! Make an example of her!
A better example for Black Widow would be her an certain other dirty fighter to do a death match.
Wow, Gabby laying down the law. You want to be a heel, fine. But don’t think you can cost her money by injuring some of her biggest draws just because you’re upset. “Waaah, I was beat. I’m going to hurt her so she can’t wrestle”. And that means lost money out of Gabby’s pocket, and if there’s one thing a businessman/woman doesn’t like being hit in, it’s the wallet. Best of luck in your next career, Widow. Na na na na, na na na na, He heeeeeeeeey, good bye.
I wonder what the Black Widow would look like in a leather maid outfit serving me.
Yay Gabby! Now where’s the medics? It’s gonna be okay Brenda!
Med’s or security? Which do you think is more important at the moment?
*sigh*….
Sounds like someone is a Bitsy lover.
You can almost hear Widow’s mind working:
“What? I dint do nothin’…”
I’d be thinking the same thing. It is only Brenda’s head.
Wow, I guess the Widow’s plan for revenge went a bit too far and cost her the job she loved so much. 🙁
Something tells me Chloe better watch her back along with Sabrina, if they are to repeat this preformance in their own upcoming fight. 🙁
I agree Sabrina can be overly aggressive.
Well hawt damn! A week away and I comes back to this!
Damn, don’t mess with the Commish!
I really hope the Champ is ok, will send her many well wishes!
About. Dang. Time. You can whine about heels being hated when they’re heels, but there’s something you need to remember – This is not a “kayfabe” world here. If Black Widow or Chloe do something like this, they’re NOT pulling the blow or using anything to make it look worse than it is. They’re really trying to cause permanent harm, and really threatening both the fiscal bottom line and a person’s life. You’ve a right to gripe about it, I suppose, but Gabi has GOOD reasons to get rid of these mad dogs.
Well, we saw how long Chloe’s dismissal lasted huh? If Widow follows suit, she’ll be back in a few weeks. Hope so. I know JC’s pulling his hair out cuz his post PPV fan fictions had Widow in them.
i know the feeling there. that’s part of the reason why i’ve slowed down my updates (the other part is laziness) because i’m getting close to the PPV timelinewise and don’t want to catch up til after it’s over. i try to stay within the main continuity as much as possible so i try to make sure i’m well behind where the comic is at 🙂
of course Sara Valentine’s vowed to reform now as a result of the PPV- what could this mean for Too Hott?!?!?!?! :O
Now this is interesting…perhaps the winner of De Sade vs. Mancini is going to be in the running for a title shot?
well good news for Brendamaniacs. she’s apparently still alive and not paralyzed from the waist down. why? in panel 2 her right leg is bent. in panel five both legs are straight so there’s some sort of semi-conscious life-like activity going on. he right arm also appears to have straighetend out between panel 2 and 5 as well. no signs of movement on the left side though. hmmm….
i think Gabby needs a bit more phlegm in her “FIIIIIIIIIRRRRRED!” call though. but fear not, according to the VI it looks like she’s already on the phone calling back to the states to get the replacements called up from the minors while also getting calculations of how much RA is going to lose in merchandise sales if the champ’s out for any length of time.
meanwhile her apprentice Darth Yvonne is backstage ready to pounce on her rematch clause and the 30 day title defense rule to get her title back from brenda if such a rule is in effect in RA.
Gabby could be digging herself a hole though if she goes through with firing Chloe as well now. like i mentioned an update or two ago Chloe may be saved by the BW “sacrifice” here since only Michael knows about the Chloe impending firing so Gabby could just call it off with none but the readers the wiser.
but you know things are bad when even Jeff is-mildly- condemning the heel’s actions. either that or the announce area is just off panel and he doesn;t want Gabby to hear him sounding approving right now. 🙂
Bravo! And this time, let’s hope she means it!
Yeah, like we didn’t see that one coming.
The point of being a heel is to be the “bad boy/girl” the one that people like because of their temper, their out of control antics, outrageous cheating, etc. The point of being a heel is NOT to permanently knock out other wrestlers. The business is dependent on its fighters, face or heel. If brenda doesn’t wake up, then all the money that would be earned by her fans is no longer flowing into the business.
Knocking over Gab and rabbit punching brenda, those were definitely within the bounds of being a heel, and the crowd probably would have loved it. The momment BW inflicted a life threatening injury, however, she crossed the line, and is possibly looking at criminal charges beyond just losing her job.
(OoC since there’s not much I can say atm. And snow can tell you how hard it is for me to stay quiet 😉 ) But thank you all for your wonderful support and well wishes. I’ve no idea how this will turn out. But I hope you know that I will be driven by desire for payback to get better, and better than ever at that.
Now I know some of you think faces are boring and I’m all that. I’ll just say this, and y’all listen up good. The rules are there to protect my opponents. Not me. BW just opened the portal to hell. I’m fix’n to give her a tour.
Hun, what will it matter if BW is fired?
Let me just say that while I do catch flak from a lot of readers for showing stuff outside of the ring/Rival Angels, it does open up the opportunity for us/readers to actually see Black Widow again without her being back technically in a Rival Angels ring. I’m not saying it’s *going* to happen, I’m just saying the possibility is there.
Dyna, it certainly will be interesting to see how Gabrielle takes care of the #1 contender spot. You can imagine that she’s got a good list of potentials to choose from. No worries on the forum fiction. Whether it’s cannon or not, it’s still all good. I mean, it’s always entertaining and in my case, inspirational.
MGC, maybe it’s that sort of thinking that will keep Chloe on the roster. I mean, maybe Gabrielle will be desperate for heels. Or not. As for security, do you remember when Gabrielle screamed at security for not being available quick enough to prevent Sabrina’s beatdown after she lost to Kat? Security isn’t dumb enough to fail twice in one night. As for the decision, Gabrielle has to protect the wrestlers and if they don’t cooperate, she HAS to get rid of them.
Snowy make a good point about fired wrestlers reappearing. O_o I think Black Widow vs Chloe would be magnificent. I know some are biased but really, who doesn’t love Bitsy? 😛
Coel, of course she’s breathing. I think. I dunno….EMTs!!!
DragonMan, I cut a part and may include it later on but Gabrielle is of the opinion that Black Widow will never be in Rival Angels again. I wonder how that bodes for De Sade? But yeah, even the most lenient boss has to draw the line somewhere.
LOL Donny, and well said. Gabrielle loves her ratings and she lets a lot of things go but some things are just too far.
Right on, Vekara and showing that love and support for the champ. The EMTs are in the last panel. They’re on their way!
BBD, I’m glad you’re still here!
Exactly 2O2BC. Exactly.
Marcus Martin, you’d think Chloe and Sabrina would definitely be mindful of this outcome, as well as the rest of the roster going forward.
Welcome back, Golden girl! 🙂
Right on, Cookie Ogre. Well said.
Pip….Hmmmm! That would be a very interesting development wouldn’t it?
jpiv, you show that keen eye as always. Brenda’s alive, but well? Hmmmm, I guess we’ll find out sooner or later. I think this is where we’ll see whether or not Gabrielle is up to the job of GM or not. She’s the one that has to make the tough decisions and she’s just made a big one with more soon to follow. New wrestlers are definitely on the way in Season 2…could this be the precursor? And I think De Sade’s fate is still a little bit up in the air.
Darkmark, I can tell you that she does.
Adder, we’ve seen the Belles push the line not to cross and even got burned when they did cross it. We’ve seen basically Gabrielle with no choice but to cut ties for breaking the rules like this.
Ah, Champ….such a spot to be put in. I think I can safely say that we’ll find out the prognosis before too long. Probably before the end of the PPV for sure. Lots of of love for you on the board, Champ!!!
You’ve got that right about Black Widow. People love her or love to hate her. There’s not much middle ground. It’s much the same with Chloe. That would be a sell out crowd match for sure.
Yeah I didn’t catch that, thanks for the pointing out. c-spine stat! Can’t wait for Wednesday.
Medic!
Shouldn’t Gabrielle had called the other wrestlers to come out of the locker room for a Black Widow beatdown?
That would have been interesting. After seeing what ODB and Miss Jackie did to TNA security on 7/21, and knowing what BW can do, I have to think the locker room call might have been wise as ummm ‘back up.’
One of Randy Orton’s signature moves is “the punt” which is just him kicking someone in the head making it almost guarenteed that they’re injured for some period of time. How about Kane putting a steel chair around Shawn Michael’s neck and stomping on it from the middle rope? Batista gave Goldberg’s leg the same treatment. Sheamus beat Triple H with a lead pipe causing “nerve damage”.
My point is, heels injure faces. Sometimes pretty brutally. The heel sticks around for a while, maybe feuding with someone who wants to avenge the injured party and eventually the face recovers and comes back for revenge. Black Widow fired? For a simple finisher on the outside? Nah…
See previous comments about kayfabe. We don’t whinge about that sort of thing happening in wrestling, television, or movies because IT’S FAKE. Albone-san has apparently chosen to treat this comic as if it were all real, therefore this kind of crap is over the line. If Albone-san declares that Wrestling Entertainment Physiology applies, then I’ll just sit back and boo.
Wouldn’t surprise me, Confection Beast. Sabrina overcoming her injuries to fight not one, but TWO intense high-profile matches on willpower alone means wrestlers in comics can exceed even actual wrestlers in overcoming physical limits – since, y’know, they don’t actually have any. So it wouldn’t surprise me if the crack we heard wasn’t the floor, because NO COWARDLY SNEAK ATTACK SHALL SERIOUSLY INCONVENIENCE THE CHAMP!! (No slight about the density of the Champ’s head is intended, so don’t hurt me much, Brenda!)
Still, Widow and de Sade have made serious attacks on wrestlers with the intent to hospitalize them. Widow even did it right in front of the boss. Gabby would look completely ineffectual if she did less than this, and that’s not the impression we’re supposed to get of Gabby.
Okay if we’re to assume the whole show is real the question is… are only Gabby’s favourites under “protection”? I didn’t see Xtina get any penalty for that backstage ambush. (She got hers in the ring, but no management involvement) And what about what happened to Monica Rumble at the start of this comic? Con-chair-to courtesy of Hell’s Belles? Injured, coming back with a neck brace? That was just as blatant and no-one ever answered for it. All that happened that I remember is Monica coming back and getting ambushed by Brooke, losing that feud this very “night”!
Yep, the action is real and legit! Sabrina’s fighting twice in one night was a nod to the old UFC where they fought 3 or 4 times in one night. It’s also a nod to guys like Paul Daley who got banned from UFC for life for a cheapshot after the fight. Xtina’s a good point, but it would’ve had to get reported to Gabrielle, something Sabrina wasn’t willing to do. As for some wrestlers receiving protection, is it weird that the world champ would enjoy that ‘protection?’ It might not be fair but I’ve said for a long time that the word needs to be re-evaluated.
poor black widow but she made the mistake of doing such a attack while brenda is champ still. if she was just a regular non face of the fed she get off with a supendsion or just a warning. just goes to show she might have had the brain the size of what she was named after. all win for me cause i get to see “the champ” with her lights out haha
Hmmph! How about we knock you back to last week, and you get to relive it? 😛
I don’t black widow proves to be as insane and stupid as De Sade. The only intelligent heels seem to be Damage Inc at the moment
First off, how DARE anyone call the great Chloe De Sade “insane and stupid”! Chloe is one of the bests, and unless Sabrina turns heel, will prove to be the big winner at this event.
As for Gab, she seems to have gone a bit “fire” happy! first threatening Chloe, now this?! Here I thought she wanted what the people want… and obviously we want smart, vicious wrestlers… not wimps who think there’s only three ways to win a match (pin, submission, KO.) there’s many others, my favorite being a steel chair.
Simple, we call Chloe “insane and stupid” because she pretty much is. She’s been letting her jealousy that Gabrielle’s trying to bring in a new girl and make her a main-eventer has over-powered any rational thought she’s had. And even before that, she’s made the mistake that pretty much every head of a Stable has made. No matter how good of a wrestler they are, it’s over-shadowed by her relying on Kat and Jennifer running interferance.
It’s one thing to attack the Champ… But, it’s another thing to piss off the Commish, when she’s standing right there! I mean, you could of at least waited until the locker room to attack her, in the underhanded fashion that you did… Heels these days.
The thing that sticks out to me is that Widow’s attack wasn’t to win the match. It wasn’t even to WIN the match. Underhanded tricks during the match? Sure, go for it. A pre-match ambush to soften them up? Why not? It’s despicable, but expected behavior from a heel.
The difference between proper heel behavior and what the mad dogs de Sade and Black Widow did is that those attacks were not done at all in the context of winning a match, but were instead serious attempts to end a wrestler’s career that left Gabby with no choice but to fire them if she wants to maintain an organization full of healthy, able-bodied personnel. They had nothing to gain from their behavior but the satisfaction of destroying their targets. The Belles in a back alley brawl that was intended to cancel the TV Championship title match – as well as the rest of Sabrina’s career – and Widow, after the match was over, she was beaten, and she had no chance of being awarded the belt for her actions. Not even for a personal grudge. She simply didn’t know that she had to stop when the ref counted her out. Dangerous and stupid. Gabby made a good call.
Maybe, if de Sade gets thoroughly humbled in front of her home town crowd, her attitude will change enough that she can be allowed to stay.
Must’ve been distracted as I tried to start this post. I blame the heat!
Right on, DragonMan!
Ashley Chloe is a loose cannon the commish should have fired her from the first. Threatening the commissioner over a rookie getting a push is not sane behavior. Ambushing someone at an event that wasn’t ring time at all is stupid criminal charges should have been filed. Not only that but she is also a coward to boot. Sabrina 1 on 1 would destroy her. Without the useless slut needles and the stupid bull she’d be mediocre at best.
As for Widow yeah she needs to be kicked to the curb the only scene I hope we see her in is her rotting in jail.
The only good thing I can see from this okay match and its “WTF was that?” aftermath is that Brenda Rua is no longer the Rival Angels champion. Which means that the next champion will have the people glued to their seats instead of rushing to the concession stands. I’ve never seen a world championship match have such a lack of buzz before. Then again, when a stock character is facing a charisma-less midcarder, no wonder the main event scene of Rival Angels is floundering.
Now let me get this straight. After Brenda Who-ah gives Filler Villain the F-U for the 1-2-3 and starts to get cozy with the boss, the stock David McLane character decides to no-sell(?) the F-U and bean Brenda Red in the back of the head with boss lady being collateral damage. This extends the feud another month even though not only did Brenda beat Background Extra #3 clean as a sheet, but she did it at Rival Angels’ equivalent of Wrestlemania. This feud should be over.
And it is over, but not because of any booker’s logic. It’s because the boring heel gave the boring face a brainbuster on the outside, giving the boring face a concussion that will likely sit her out for enough time to get stripped of the title and putting the boring heel out of work.
So the boring face is out and will most likely lose the title. There is a main event match coming up next. Oh, how will this PPV be saved? Oh no…
“Ultragirl” Sabrina Mancini vs. Chloe de Sade in an I Quit Cage Match for the vacated Rival Angels World Championship!
Only slightly agitated about the overuse of the word boring. The only comment I have there is the fact that the signing ceremony that ended with the Widow table plexing Brenda seems like a life-time ago… even with the Jeff/Dawn quick flash before the match.
Personally, I would have loved to have seen one montage pic of Black Widow pounding her competition for the title shot so we get why she’d earned it and if there was any history between the two of them.
There was some thought put into the history of BW and me. We go back 5 years or so and have done it all. But it was either too thin to matter or took too big a piece of the pie. You’re right though that a montage showing BW’s path to this point would have been cool.
As for Mr. JSN/Cole’s comments, I’m expecting any time now for him to stand on the table and shut down the event so he can have the main event match. Then we could have some laughs *grins
I’m not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but comments like JSN, especially such thought out and in-depth let me know that these readers are in for a big surprise. It honestly reinforces my confidence as a writer.
Obviously, these aren’t directed at Brenda the person as with all of her posting and commentating (way more than say, JSN) proves that she’s not 2-dimensional.
Ha! i called it I have been handed enough walkin papers in my time to know what they smell like Al but youknow widow cant be surpised she got canned one she intentionaly hurt brenda for some pay back and two she hit Gabby and she was already having a trying night as it was so she might have walked away with suspension if that brain buster was in the ring but well yeah
It’s about damn time Gabrielle did something to assert her authority. You’d think she’d have learned her lesson the FIRST time a major heel almost ended the career of one of her top sellers. But no, it takes the ending of the career of the reigining World Heavyweight Champion, or at least her definite sidelining, to light a fire under her ass? I call BS.
well Gabby’s still putting Brina through her paces to some extent to see if she’s tough enough to hang with the big girls or get sent back to devlopement (see back in the “If Brina doesn;t wrestle after getting beat up in the alley she’s getting sent down” thing with Marina way back whenever). plus it all happened off camera so Brina getting pulped only rates as a medium level annoyance in Gabbyland. it took a second attack at the PPV before she finally took the soon to be aborted step of actually deciding to fire Chloe.
but brenda’s the bread and butter, face of the promotion, long time vet who probably outsells everyone except maybe the catgirls (<sees tons of young girls with their official catgirl ears on available at RAshopzone.com in the stands>) in the merchandise department and champ on top. No way is Gabby’s cash cow (/ducks) getting mugged like that- on live PPV in front of everyone, right in front of her. And yeah Gabby is definitely going to channel her inner Vince and take drastic steps ASAP. it does’t look good for Gabby to be ineffectual right there.
It’s the principle of the matter, and I’ll say it tilmy fingers break: What Chloe did in the alley was assault, real drama for a professional wrestling promotion or not. She had no business doing that, and testing whether Sabrina can take it or not is all but guaranteeing she won’t see the end of her rookie year. Given some of the injuries that have happened in steel cage matches and I Quit matches, it’s almost a sure thing that Sabrina, Chloe, or both will get hurt badly, even if Katherine and Damage Inc. do get involved.
The fact of the matter is, Gabrielle Reni is too inconsistent in her decision making to be taken seriously as the leader of a professional wrestling promotion. If I were a manager in Rival Angels, I’d have taken my client elsewhere the moment she decided to let Chloe de Sade come back, rather than making her actually pay for what she did and firing her and deporting her at the first opportunity after assaulting Sabrina. Profit is one thing, but the safety of your talent is another that should take precedence, and considering she decided to make Sabrina prove her worth rather than actually taking the matter seriously indicates Gabrielle does not care about anything but profit until something happens where all watching can see it, at which point she is forced to do her job. If I were talent working in Rival Angels, I would not feel safe working under her.
I was actually both sighing because of the firing….and Brenda being dropped on her head hard.
Hopefully Brenda will be okay. I don’t see why anyone would call her mediocre true we haven’t seen her much before but she seems interesting.
