The end of the Rival Angels intermission and I hope you enjoyed and learned a little bit about your favorite Upstart girls and where they might be headed.
Be sure to come back on Monday for the start of Season 2!!!
Voting Incentive!
Gone but not forgotten, vote to see how we’re starting off 2012 and Season 2!
In terms of storytelling and stage-setting, this is the best update so far. Thanks.
Ok, now I’m very intrigued by this upcoming season for Rival Angels 😀 Shaking things up as always aren’t you Al? 🙂
A very nice touch boss. Congrats!
As an aside I have word from Blackwidow that she will be in action again and soon. And you can expect we’ll be bumping heads. As the boss said, she can be the best in the world. But she has to get past me to get there.
As for the new folks, what can one say? I do hear ‘fresh meat’ back in the locker room though hehee
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
If I may ask, instead of showing new talent shouldn’t you be showing off more of the talent already on roster? Or was it really that small?
Can I say that the last panel is a bit… intimidating…
I figured today’s post would be something like this, setting the stage for Season 2, though your ability to hint and obscure at the same time is operating at peak effectiveness, I must say. Well done.
So, what did we learn here? Hmm. Chloe might be back in six months. That’s pretty profound. I know a few readers have got to be delighted about that. I wonder how she’ll react to the current situation in Hell’s Belles. I wonder how Hell’s Belles will respond to her return. Chloe, in peak health and good focus, coming back and dealing with Hell’s Belles having moved on without her… got a lot of story potential.
We already knew that Black Widow wasn’t coming back, though this makes it seem somewhat less likely that she’ll Nash her way back in.
Verified that Sabrina’s still on the roster, and Ms Reni considers her “top talent,” so certain theories, like developmental, seem crushed, but no hints yet on where she’s at. Can’t wait to find out!
The expansion of the roster seems necessary. There are enough current characters to be useful, but their relative strengths seem pretty well set, and the roster seems pretty thin in places, particularly near the top. Brenda needs credible threats to be showcased properly (but for the love of Gog, please, no more heel tag teams!). It feels like a timeskip is coming up, so some people might improve while others stagnate, so the rankings could change up, but bulking up the roster helps make it feel more natural when you shake and shuffle it a bit.
Loved the intermission… despite certain disappointments. 😛 Felt good to get to know the Upstarts a bit more directly, and tonight’s setup is fantastic. Can’t wait to see what happens when 2012 gets here!
I’ve returned from my vacation and am ready for my interview now.
Gabrielle is smart in a good set up for the next Season.
::genuflects to the Strappy Italian Boots:: Aaooooo-ahhh! Aaooooo-ahhh! Deliver us from boredom, oh mighty bosslady!
hmm the mysterious last panel seems to prove the role of the unholy trinity. first we had the three Belles (who quickly bumped themselves back to 3 by adding brooke when Chloe sorts through her issues) and now the three ominous shadows for season 2. note: fear the smiling one.
as for brina the VI clearly shows that she’s given up the sport and went to Australia to vex Brooke by joining her favorite Australian rules football/rugby team meaning that even away from RA Brina continues to haunt Brooke 🙂
well, it’s been a while sense i posted here last. i feel i should offer a belated Christmas gift to you all. I found a Japanise manga about woman wrestling that while not as realistic as rival angels, but an entertaining read none the less. oh, and even though it has been tagged NSFW, it is NOT porn but it is not for little kids either. use your discretion.

enjoy.
Not ominous at all.
This is why I love Gabby. Even when it seems like everything’s going nuckin Futs, she always keeps her cool and always knows what’s going on in her company
Chloe comes back pissed that Katherine has “usurped her position and tarnished the name of Hell’s Belles by adding another useless cow”. Katherine is very protective of Jennifer and their relationship, so this leads to a match with leadership of the group on the line. Katherine’s been impressive enough to be in the main event and the faction could hold her back in the future. Chloe wins, gets her spot back, and has fun torturing the new meat.
Black Widow may become the best wrestler in the world…right.
Sabrina Mancini is one of Rival Angels’ top talents in her rookie year. Save your sanity and don’t even try to figure it out if you don’t get it. At least she’s going somewhere where she can improve and become a better wrestler. I hope she comes back as a well-rounded wrestler and can at least get out of a submission hold without going “ULTRAGIRL SMASH!”
This is what I was afraid of. Instead of looking to her own roster to develop and elevate when necessary, Gabby decides to bring in more rookies and outsiders to run roughshod over Rival Angels. Gabrielle Reni is Dixie Carter, “Monday Night Meltdown” is Impact, and whatever they call the stadium nowadays is really the Impact Zone. She thinks her current roster doesn’t measure up because she tested the wrestlers when they first got to RA, leading to her having no faith in her product and poaching other wrestlers to prop it up. While it does give off the image of RA being the place to go, it also tells you that if you don’t make it here, your career is deader than Samoa Joe’s.
*Pecking order is not set in stone. Wrestlers may move up and down tiers as the situation develops.
With Chloe, Black Widow, and Sabrina gone, at least for a bit, it looks like Gabby’s bringing in new ones to fill those empty spots in the roster.
JSN once again proves he knows nothing. NEW TALENT SHOULD ALWAYS BE COMING IN. Without new talent the sport gets boring and stale, and you see the same match ups over and over again yawn. Cloe would never beat kat smith in a fight cloe is USELESS, without lackeys to help her cheat she has no real talent of her own and has enough mental issues that I hope to god she isn’t coming back ever.
Chloe could potentially be less useless after a six-month hiatus of rehab and retraining. She could be anything, really. She was at a low point in her career, obviously, with drugs and jealousy of new talent. Then, she had a humiliating loss in front of her home town crowd, a complete loss of fan support, betrayal by her followers, and six months off to focus on what she wants to be different when she returns. We know she had the potential to be a top tier wrestler – she was that, in name, when we saw her last. In six months, maybe she becomes more fit, more versatile, and more focused, and shows us what an actual smart, dangerous heel can do in this organization.
Kat Smith, on the other hand, is rather unimpressive. She’s a big strong thug with just enough brain to distance herself from Chloe when it’s far too late to do any good. She may have a belt, but in a one-on-one match, she doesn’t seem a match for people who have a decent combination of power and skill. She also has less reason to grow than Chloe does. I think Chloe may have a good shot against Kat Smith upon her return.
Interesting thought: what about Sabrina and Chloe as reluctant allies against Kat Smith’s Belles?
Happy new year, buddy! Looking forward to season 2 starting soon.
