Cocoa shows more sportsmanship AFTER the match than during it. O_o And it looks like we have someone else joining the party. Any guess who it might be?
Voting Incentive!
Vote to get a sneak peek of Wednesday’s update!
Well, that sucked.
Concur, and utterly unimpressed with Cocoa. A cheap win is a win, but it does not impress the bookers when it comes to giving out high profile matches and title shots. Being a ‘good sport’ after doesn’t help… the bottom line is that she could have put on a good match but didn’t because… why? She was lazy?
I’m not sure it was the intent, but the ref came off not as flustered dealing with something without precedent, but incompetent and indecisive. Making snap decisions is a ref’s JOB. I don’t mind seeing Sabrina lose every once in a while, but that was just weaksauce and made everyone involved — Cocoa for choosing a cheap win that makes her look like she can’t do it without cheating like crazy; Sabrina who was knocked out by a sleeper that can’t have been on for very long; and the ref who was all ‘I don’t know what to do, oh I shall not penalize Cocoa in any way because she’s breaking several rules and I’m not sure which one applies.’
Sorry, this one wasn’t one of the better sequences, IMO.
I agree too. Cocoa comes off as a jobber who got lucky. I wanted to let fly with the zingers coming in, but I think I’ll quietly let myself out.
The ref’s involvement is definitely a topic of conversation between the girls…later. For now, they have unexpected company.
Thank you gentlemen for putting the correct frilling on my own thoughts. And Cocoa’s ‘I’m cute’ attitude at least makes sense since she went ‘gray’ pretty much from the bell.
But, Mo Chen can them becoming friends at some point – mostly because Sabrina is very gullible. It would be one thing to establish Cocoa and Sabrina as rivals from here but if the intention to make them friends at some point – she owes Sabby a LOT for what just happened but she’s already set a bad precidence (JC uses big words) for a shaky foundation.
Also, this means for Sabrina that she’s 1-1 in BRA even though she stayed undefeated in RA until Kat came along. And that W was to the boss’ tramp girlfriend. I think we can call this a career low for Ultragirl. The good side? It’s all uphill from here.
Interesting turn of events. If it was on TV, I’m sure I’d be pretty grumpy about the way it went. In the context of the comic, though, it has the potential to move the story in an interesting way. Sabrina earning respect and making friends outside her worthless stable. Cocoa is adorable here. She’s like a hotter, more impressive Sun – and I’ll hurt anyone who tells Sun I said it.
Pretty sure the mystery speaker is Widow. Ugh.
Still think the ref let Cocoa walk all over her, and needs to be retrained or fired.
Yeah, best to keep that on the down low from Sun. Lil Dragons aren’t nearly as forgiving as Ultragirls. The ref tried to keep order last update, but definitely got rolled, so to speak.
Still love Sun, of course, but Cocoa is amazing. Hopefully she stays and supports Sabrina in the next bit.
Ouch, not a good way to lose.
And…the worst is yet to come. O_o
‘worst is yet to come’ – translation “Another Widow beatdown”
O_o 😛
*Flat sarcastic tone* Oh thank goodness I thought BW would never show.
*Normal excited voice* But now they’ve made friends – UltraCocoa team up v BW! Gooooo!!!
Ultracocoa vs Black Widow FTW! XD That would be pretty epic.
If I were Sabrina I would NOT be making friends with Cocoa. Being nice when you’ve cheated your way to a win is not a good recommendation for a friend.
Despite Sabrina’s well-known disposition, she has no intention of forgetting the cheating nature that got Cocoa the win.
I’m “glad” to see how epicly useful the Elite Stable are at watching my girls back, ‘Brina needs to ditch them quick like!
***
Next time ‘Brina!
Well…maybe it’s Elite that’s coming out to ringside now? Maybe it’s Kaci?
hehehe!!
at least everyone’s happy..
this prove that Sabrina isn’t supergirl, or they call super cena now…
but I can’t still get over from the previous chapter, comparison to this..
Chloe loss to Sabrina, as Cocoa won against Sabrina.. that’s wrong… CHloe should have won that,
since this is Season 2..
hope to see Chloe De Sade winning some matches..
Why would we see Chloe at all? Her part in the story is done, at least for a good long while. I can’t imagine what the point would be.
Never mind… MGC has Chloe on the brain 24/7, and I have to say that his devotion is pretty dedicated considering that we haven’t seen an enormous amount of actual *wrestling* from Chloe, and the one match she did have she was straight up defeated. I do agree that while it’s likely she’ll return, it’s time to mix things up with new scenarios and feuds. Even the classic longtime feuds (Freebirds/Von Erichs, Midnight Espress/Rock & Roll Express) had periods where they would break off and feud with others. Keeps it fresh so that when they do go at it again, it’s exciting for the fans rather than stale.
Oh, I’m sure the haters will find a way to hate. 😛 But yeah, Sabrina’s losing like this may be surprising, but not totally unexpected.
As for Chloe, no plans to see her for a while. As to Cocoa beating Sabrina…Cocoa is better than De Sade. (ducks and runs) LMAO
I agree. Cocoa IS better than de Sade in every way except being a heel! I doubt Cocoa needed to take steroids, and she looks hotter besides.
Anyone wanna’ bet that MGC had to change pants after Brina’ lost?
The emotional support system for Sabrina Mancini grows larger. Silly Lil’ Jimmies (and Lil’ Jennies), did you actually think Sabrina would win this one? She’s not on the Kobe System and this is not Fanfiction.net.
The only thing left to figure out is whether the final confrontation will be 1 on 1 or a tag match.
lolz..
Fanfiction.net
where you we write..
0 wins for Sabrina.. hahahaha!!
glad you’ve return
Dude, seriously, I only understood the first two sentences. And the last one.
I honestly wasn’t expecting Brina’ to win this either but I didn’t see her being put away from a sleeper then the 20-25 seconds it took Cocoa to drag her into the ring and get the count.
Sabrina’s weakness is submission specialist already.. and it a shades of Dejavu.. on what Krystin did to Sabrina (gogoplata) as Brooke pin Sabrina..
now… I want a REQUEST..
Sabrina VS Chloe De Sade (rematch)
THIS TIME CHLOE DE SADE WIN…
CHLOE DE SADE WIN
CHLOE DE SADE WIN
CHLOE DE SADE WIN
Well, it happened. I have a feeling Japan is going to be a learning experience for Sabrina, and Cocoa acted just as I thought she would. Despite other predictions, I think she and Sabrina are going to be friends.
Sabrina’s education started when she set foot in Takashi’s office and the Elite locker room. 😛 The question on Cocoa and Sabrina’s relationship, good or bad, will be the early focus in the next chapter. 😉
Sabrina may have lost the match, but at least Coco is shown as a good sport after it’s all over. 😀
So maybe Sabrina has a chance or two to survive this ordeal if she sticks with the right people, right ? 🙂
Don’t forget that Sabrina was the first person ever to break out of Cocoa’s finisher!
*Long, disappointed sigh, the kind of sigh you only do when someone lets you down in a big way and you want them to know they let you down* Boney, I am disappoint. I can handle Sabrina losing, and I can handle Cocoa winning. I can even handle finding the match to be boring and Cocoa cheating. But what I can’t handle is Cocoa cheating and trying to pass it off as loopholes and gray areas when she knows full well she’s cheating, then turning right around and trying to make nice after that little stunt. I’m not buying it. 😐
And you shouldn’t buy it. At least, Sabrina isn’t. Really, this is Cocoa trying to make herself feel better. Maybe she has a conscious?
Well, she’s certainly got a conscious, but maybe she has a conscience too. 😉
LOL, yes. XD hey, I was just thrilled spellcheck didn’t flag my spelling of the word. 😛
I assume all the folks who are hating on Cocoa right now also despise Sun for her dastardly cheating.
Exactly what I was thinking. Sun’s done worse, using a chair to win the last match we saw her in. I don’t hold it against Sun, and I don’t hold this against Cocoa if Cocoa’s being sincere.
Pro wrestling is weird like that. Everything isn’t always judged on a fair level, but that’s what makes it so fun too.
well i’m in the minority it seems but go Team Cocoa! and to tie into Acoleth’s comment i’m still true to myself- Sun’s still my favorite. 🙂
surprised Brina didn’t kick out and the crowd seems to have not minded/forgiven Cocoa for her shortcuts. i suppose you can say Cocoa was “heel-liting” during the match. no hairpulls, no thumbs to the eyes, no chokes, no cheap shots like more traditional heels, just actual moves in illegal circumstances. Ccoca also managed to completeley keep the ref off her game to her advanatage with her constant chatter.
i do like Brina’s expression at the end “oh great…this again.” Cocoa doesn;t seem to recognize the newcomer though- but Cocoa’s another of the new girls to BRA right? sounds like a BW comment to me though. I expect Cocoa to have brina’s back this time to some degree to “make up” for her shortcuts during the match. so…does everyone BUT Elite have Brina’s back here if that’s the case?
however Brina doesn;t look so hot in the VI so methinks it don;t go too well for her.
The crowd gave a polite applause in the second panel. Not really whole-hearted, if you get my meaning. XD As for the newcomer, maybe it’s Kaci? Maybe Elite finally showed up?
wow sabrina, that was pathetic, gabriella picked you why?
Gabrielle knows talent when she sees it.
I wonder what she thinks of them after they fall flat on their face after so much invenstment.
Sabrina can’t win them all. She’s not Super-Cena.
What Albone said, Tyrannus. I’m not a John Cena fan, but when watching real life wrestling I can get tired of seeing anybody win if it goes on long enough. I think that Rob Van Dam, for example, is a lot more talented and fun to watch than Cena, but after he joined TNA and was made to look unbeatable at the expense of guys like AJ Styles and Abyss I was really hoping to see him lose. I’m also tired of seeing Eddie Kingston win all the time as the champion in Chikara, often making it seem like his opponents never stood a chance.
Heroes in general often suffer defeats. The first time Luke Skywalker fought Darth Vader, he put up a good fight, but eventually he lost. Badly. But, and sorry if I’m spoiling things for people who haven’t seen the movies, they eventually fought again, and Luke won the rematch. I think that made Luke’s victory more impressive, because we knew that Vader was no weakling, that Vader was capable of beating him if he wasn’t careful.
Similarly, Sabrina’s match against Kat could have gone either way, but in the end it was Kat who walked away with the win despite the Belles getting ejected from ringside before they could do very much damage to Sabrina. Kat was better–on that day. If Sabrina learns from her mistakes, if she improves, and if she goes up against Kat again and beats her…then that is going to be awesome, for the same reasons that her defeat of Loretta Diaz was awesome.
Lastly, Sabrina having only two losses and somewhere in the neighbourhood of ten wins hardly qualifies as her falling flat on her face.
“Kat was better–on that day.”
*hug* The whole post was great, but that paragraph is what I’ve been shooting for since the beginning. 🙂
Cocoa’s face in the fourth panel got me to laugh, I gotta admit.
Me too! XD
I’m gonna reserve judgment on Coco, being all “oh gee” after the match could indicate a desire to be professional and leave what happened in the ring in the ring, but it could also just be being a bit of a brat. For those who point out that Sun does worse, yeah, she does, she also doesn’t pretend she doesn’t or wouldn’t do it again.
That said, if that IS Widow coming down to be a ninny, I’d like to see Sabrina and Coco work together to pound her into the mat a few times. 😉
Cocoa doesn’t have the usual mean streak that the normal Sabrina-opponents are known for, even if her methods were ‘gray’ as she put it. You are also completely right about Sun. She doesn’t pretend she’s anything other than she is.
I would also say that the reason Sun is given more of a pass, is that she consistently delivers in the ring. Yeah, she does fight dirty but she actually *fights*. When she comes into the ring you know she’s going to deliver. Cocoa, on the other hand, went for a cheap win right out the gate and pulled it off, so instead of a ‘fighter who will do anything to win’ she looks like a ‘sneak who doesn’t deserve to be in the ring.’ This aside from the fact that Sun doesn’t pretend to wear a halo and her opponents know what to expect from her. Cocoa seems to want it both ways, and it just doesn’t work like that.
Now that’s an interesting angle. The bubbly and polite heel.
That’s a very nice sleeper/ko boss!
I find it nauseating, personally. She looks embarrassed to have won. Own it, or go sit in the back with the “nice girls”.
Thanks Champ!
And to Callie’s point, one should never apologize for winning.
I am SHOCKED that Sabrina didn’t kick out but I am SO happy she didn’t! I like being surprised! GO COCOA! 😀
I love her sportsmanship after the match. Eddie when wrestling his friends was always apologetic to them after the match. It was just him doing what he had to do to win his match. I really think these two could be a great pairing in Japan. Sabrina could use the back up as its obvious that Black Widow is coming to give Sabrina grief.
I’m very confused by the voting incentive. I’ve gotta hope that its Cocoa standing over Sabrina keeping Black Widow at bay. Come on Cocoa! Stand up for your new friend! 🙂
Yeah, even Sabrina can’t win them all. 😛 Sabrina COULD use some help covering her back, since Elite is a little slow on the draw. Unless, this IS them coming down…
MGC and others NO CHLOE should not have won Cloe has no real talent and is crazy.
Yes. LOL
Can’t believe this, I about to not check in today when I see on voting button on Saturday that doesn’t seem to look good on Monday. Now I fear is true now Sabrina lost that match but Cocoa suddenly repect Sabrina and prised that she got out of her finsher move along saying great match and saying is she okay and even apologise. But someone going critics Sabrina, don’t know I be looking forward to Wednesday.
I understand your anxiety of what’s coming, but make sure you check back to see what happens to our little Sabrina!
Albone..
is Cocoa kinda like Waylon Mercy..
I remember..
Waylon Mercy finisher is a sleeperhold,
friendly before the bell and after the bell, but vicious during match..
and I know why Sabrina..
Sabrina don’t have back up.. I mean Gabby to push her, and Marina do dirty work..
Everything lies…in Waylon Mercy’s hands…know what I mean?
Regardless…
She is NOTHING like Waylon Mercy! She is the female Eddie Guerrero and I am sticking to that story.
Waylon Mercy FTW!!!!!
I always thought that Waylon Mercy was a character with enormous potential, and it was sad to see that his WWF run was so short. How everything he said seemed to have a double-meaning, and that completely psychotic look he’d get when he slapped on the sleeper. Yeah, he used that look all the time in the Skyscrapers, but it was more effective when used sparingly. It’s too bad… he could have gone far as one of the great heels, but it just wasn’t to be.
What’s sad is that Waylon was based on the Cape Fear character, but it was his best role. I liked him as part of the Skyscrapers, but he was just a guy in a leather vest. Waylon was top notch.
Hehehe, I remember him better when he was Danny Spivey with the Skyscrapers. Him and Sid Viscious, Managed by Teddy Long. Then Sid punctured something internal when he broke a rib in a brawl with Doom, LOD, and the Stieners, and “Mean” Mark Callous was brought in to replace him
YES! Ah, memories. Man, that was when tag team wrestling was off the hook.
well that obviously can only be widow and Cocoa is kind surprizing me here tho it could be a ruse tho personall I am kinda happy shes being a gratious winner tho she did get kinda cheapinthe end but what ever get you the win I supose tho lookings at 4th panel Cocoa looks like a fan girl and a bit sheepish like she would have prefered to win in a more legitimate way , also I’m not sure how Bree is going to take it could go either way at this point depends on how Cocoa handel’s the widow situation here
No matter who it is coming down to ringside here, what Cocoa does next will establish her as a character in Rival Angels for better or for worse.
That was a pretty low and shady move there, Cocoa. But a wins a win, I guess.
So much for that impressive “unbeaten” record from the first season, Sabby. You only had one loss under your belt, but now there’s another to add to the mix.
You can’t win them all. Even Spidey loses from time to time but comes back stronger. As for Cocoa, you don’t apologize for winning, but yeah, there was definitely a shortcut or two there.
win or lose, I was hoping this one would go farther. I don’t suppose the action is done yet? The Widows going to stir some shit, right?
Is does seem like something’s about to get started with this unexpected/unknown newcomer.
A bit of a stand-up move by Cocoa after the bell. I guess she’s like a reverse version of Xtina. A real rulebreaker in the ring, but she’s a nice gal between the bells
Reverse Xtina! Now I want to see Cocoa vs Xtina.
You’re the Artist, man. You wanna see it, all you gotta do is sketch it out
Well the wrestler that applied their moves the quickest won the match… But, whenever I hear ‘Chosen One’ I always think of the movie: Kung Pow!
LOL, that’s cool! Usually ‘chosen one’ brings up Harry Potter or Buffy. 😛
Nice match.
Id like if Cocoa be interested in Brina and try to date her ;P lol would be an interesting storyline 😛
LOL, I wouldn’t hold out too much hope for that. XD
Cocoa knows better than to risk Sun’s jealous wrath. 😉
LMAO!
Hindsight is 20/20 but, JC had some thoughts on what was being accomplished in this match vs. the impending Black Widow attack.
If the intention was to bring Sabrina down another notch, introduce Cocoa as well as establish her as someone who bends rules, and have another intimidation by Bitsy, here is a variation to consider.
Sabrina breaks the pin and the match continues, she manages to get past another Cocoa cheapshot but before she can nail the Ultrasplash, in comes Bitsy. She grabs the top rope causing Brina to topple and fall. The Widow hops in, NAILS her then gives a quick lecture before bailing out.
Cocoa comes to. She feels guilty but hey a knocked out opponent and a free win. In accomplishes the same without the issues and establishes more of Cocoa’s attitude while not making the ref to blame for letting her get away with something that won her the match.
JC always has great ideas, and this is why it’s a treat to see him in person. XD
I like this scenario a lot but I think the interference win can only be used so many times. Sure, Cocoa bent a lot of rules to get the win, but it was all her. Or I guess, another way to put it is that I’m saving that interference win for something else. XD
But I do like that scenario JC suggested…definitely use that in some Board fiction!
The suggestion was because we already see Widow coming and it takes the blame off the ref. Something I learned very early on… heat is fine. But, if you put the heat on the ref and make it their fault, its never a good thing. And I didn’t realize it was so important the Cocoa win vs. Brina losing.
Well I DO have to keep the Super Cena haters off my back. jk jk jk!
As I read from this: CR bent the rules to win. If she flat out broke the rules, that would be grounds for disqualification, which didn’t happen. So her win might not’ve been the most honorable but it’s not necessarily a black/white thing there. The ref could be forgiven for not being more assertive, mostly because referees are supposed to be just competent enough to count. If they caught everything, then there wouldn’t be rule-breakers anymore because they’d all quickly be DQed to the point of getting kicked out of their places of work.
This first loss here serves to humble Sabrina some more. She was sent to get more experience, this being a learning venture for her. If she comes out of the gate too strong, there’s nothing really for her to learn. But she put up a good fight and did break out of the hitherto inescapable finisher that CR pulled out at the beginning of the match, so it wasn’t a full-on Sabrina bashing.
I’d say this match was more to use Sabrina to establish Cocoa, rather than the other way around. Cocoa may be a rule bender/breaker but she probably isn’t a bad or mean person. Her tactics probably are at least in part from the mention that Sabrina got earlier from… I wanna say it was her Elite stablemate Kaci Alexander (I’m not quite sure what Sabrina actually gets from being associated with them… I’m surprised she hasn’t asked that question yet either) about the fact that, unlike Rival Angels, which is an organization dedicated solely and specifically to women’s wrestling, MWA has men and women competing on the same shows and the women get the short end of the stick on booking and so all of them will fight tooth and nail to keep whatever spot they can get. So in light of that, Cocoa’s actions may not be pleasant or preferable but certainly carry a sound logic to them.
Now we have to wait to see what happens with Sabrina’s call-out. It could be Black Widow, but then it could be pretty much anybody who’s upset that she’s getting booked and they’re not. Although the “chosen one” comment would seem to mock her marketing from Rival Angels, rather than MWA. MWA didn’t really do anything other than tell her to wrestle, RA was the organization that put the marketing campaign behind Sabrina.
Sabrina seems like she’d not be attacked with two other people in the ring with her but the refs aren’t known for their willingness to take hits for the wrestlers, and Cocoa could find retreat to be the better part of valor. Sabrina herself is not likely to bail, although after getting knocked out with a sleeper hold, she probably wouldn’t be in any capacity to defend herself.
I shall await further developments.
